Inside the gate, in a courtyard, a young man knelt before an imposing elder, tears streaming down his face.
"Grandfather, you must help me! I've suffered enough punishment for my time in Eryuan City. I was bullied there, and even the Jin Family in Eryuan City was wiped out by my enemies. I promise I won't return to Eryuan City again."
It was Wu Yi.
The elder, seated in a grand chair, had a stern expression and piercing eagle-like eyes that made it clear he was not someone to be trifled with. He was Wu Yi's grandfather, a high-ranking figure within the sect and a member of the council of elders.
"Hmph, do you think I don't know what you've been up to in Eryuan City? Yang Cheng has reported the entire situation to the sect. Your mistakes have cost us the vassal of the city lord in Eryuan City. The sect leader is furious, and I cannot shield you from this. Thirty Dragon Whips—you will receive every single one."
Elder Wu's voice was cold as he seized Wu Yi and soared into the air. In just a few breaths, they arrived at the sect's plaza.
"Any disciple who violates the rules and brings harm to the sect must pay the price! Even if it's my own grandson, there are no exceptions! Thirty Dragon Whips—I will personally administer them!"
Elder Wu's voice echoed far and wide, causing many disciples to watch from a distance, too afraid to approach. Wu Yi had a terrible reputation within the sect; he was known for being vindictive, and many had suffered at his hands.
"Wu Yi is back? Great, now the sect will be thrown into chaos again."
"I heard he caused a huge mess in Eryuan City. The city lord's forces were wiped out, and he returned here with his tail between his legs. Thankfully Elder Wu is wise; the taste of Thirty Dragon Whips is not something to be taken lightly."
"He deserves it! That bastard—why didn't he die in Eryuan City?"
"Shh! Keep your voice down; are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Amidst their discussions, Elder Wu shattered Wu Yi's outer garment with a single palm strike. Wu Yi found himself sprawled on the Punishment Platform, his hands and feet bound by steel chains. His protective Soul Power could not escape; the platform was embedded with formations designed specifically to make one endure physical suffering.
Elder Wu glanced around, his eyes finally resting on the Six-Story Pavilion in front of the square, the residence of Sect Leader Zhao Dahai of the Blade Sect and Sect Master Zixiao of the Qingyi Sect.
"The person at the door, regardless of who has made a mistake, must be punished. Old Man will not cover for anyone today; let Master Pan be my witness." Elder Wu's expression was grim as he shouted towards a window on the sixth floor.
Inside the window, several high-ranking members of the sect quietly observed. Among them was none other than the current Sect Leader Zhao Dahai and Sect Master Zixiao, who held absolute authority—Pan Feng!
The position of Sect Leader Zhao Dahai and Sect Master Zixiao had always been inherited by those from prominent families. The first generation of sect masters who founded the sect possessed terrifying strength, reaching the high ranks of the Ninth Rank Earth Soul Realm. However, with each passing generation, there were no longer any Earth Soul Realm experts within the sect.
Pan Feng turned to a few elders beside him and said lightly, "What do you think, how much force will Elder Wu use to punish his grandson?"
"The Dragon Whip is not an ordinary whip; if too much force is used, it could easily kill someone. I guess Elder Wu will personally take action but won't use too much strength," one elder replied.
The other elders nodded in agreement.
Pan Feng shook his head slightly and smiled, "Just watch; Elder Wu may go hard on him to establish authority. With so many grandsons, even if he were to kill one, I doubt he would feel much pain."
"Elder Wu, after all, he is your own grandson. He has quite a bit of talent; perhaps you should go easy on him."
Pan Feng's voice carried across the square for everyone to hear.
Immediately, all the disciples knelt down in unison as they saw a figure flying out—it was none other than Master Pan!
"Greetings, Sect Master!"
Pan Feng waved his hand, and everyone felt a gentle force lifting them up; they found themselves unable to kneel again even if they wanted to.
Pan Feng's strength was truly formidable.
Elder Wu's face shifted from pale to flushed; he never expected that Pan Feng would come out personally.
"Grandson... your talent is impressive... Pan Feng, oh Pan Feng, did you seize this opportunity just to push the Wu Family to their limits?" Elder Wu felt a deep pain in his heart; Pan Feng was forcing him to take ruthless measures.
Wu Yi's talent was pitifully low, and being ridiculed in front of so many disciples showed Pan Feng's malicious intent.
Elder Wu drew the Dragon Whip from beside the platform. The whip was forged from pure steel, measuring ten feet long and about the thickness of two fingers. Every inch of it was covered in barbs, and a single strike would leave flesh torn and bloodied. Even more terrifying was the soul-binding array within the whip; even those protected by Soul Power would find their defenses forced to contract upon impact.
At that moment, Wu Yi's Soul Power was sealed, allowing the full force of the Dragon Whip to be unleashed.
With thirty Dragon Whips, those at the Power Realm could withstand the blows due to their physical strength, but for those at the Fate Soul Realm, it would mean broken bones and shattered tendons. Given Wu Yi's low strength, he likely wouldn't survive.
"Master Pan, rest assured, I will give you an account for the losses in Eryuan City!"
Elder Wu swung the Dragon Whip down hard onto Wu Yi's back. With just one strike, a deep gash appeared, tearing away a large chunk of flesh.
"Ahhhhhh..." Wu Yi screamed in agony.
Another strike! One whip after another!
By the tenth strike, Wu Yi had fallen silent, having already lost consciousness.
It was clear to everyone that Elder Wu was showing no mercy and had truly gone too far.
Bang!
Bang!
The dull sound echoed through the square, sending a chill through everyone's hearts. A pool of blood spread across the ground, and Wu Yi's entire back had been shattered! His spine was reduced to fragments; he was dead beyond any doubt.
After a full thirty lashes, Elder Wu tossed the whip onto the ground and coldly smiled at Pan Feng. "Master Pan, thirty lashes, not one less. Are you satisfied?"
Pan Feng cast a deep glance at Elder Wu before his figure suddenly vanished from the square.
Elder Wu picked up Wu Yi's corpse and flew away.
"Is Wu Yi really dead just like that?"
"Elder Wu is ruthless; his strikes are even harsher than those of the Punishment Elder. If it had been the Punishment Elder, Wu Yi might have survived."
"With Master Pan watching from the side, could he afford to hold back?"
"Ultimately, it's a good thing. With that scum Wu Yi dead, the sect will be much cleaner."
"Find him for me! Track down that kid; you are to eliminate him directly!" Elder Wu shouted at several core subordinates while looking at Wu Yi's corpse.
The few of them nodded with sorrow as they left. They didn't care about Wu Yi's death; in fact, they secretly felt relieved. To the entire faction of Elder Wu, Wu Yi had been a ticking time bomb, and his death was for the best.
What saddened them was the sect master's attitude towards Elder Wu.
A clear signal emerged as Elder Wu's influence within the sect rapidly expanded, prompting the sect leader to take action against him.
Those affiliated with Elder Wu would not have an easy time in the sect moving forward.
Inside the inn, Wei Chen sat cross-legged, each hand holding a Sixth-Rank Soul Stone, steadily and powerfully absorbing its energy. The Soul Power surged into his body, gently impacting his acupoints.
For a full four hours, Wei Chen remained motionless, focused intently on refining the Soul Stone. His Soul Power Realm advanced from the fifth level of Power Realm to the first level of Spirit Realm. His Spirit of Valor had already coalesced, and by continuously refining the Soul Stone, he could smoothly progress toward the pinnacle of Spirit Realm.
Once he entered Spirit Realm, Wei Chen noticed that his rate of advancement began to slow down; he no longer felt the overwhelming momentum he had experienced in Power Realm.
Wei Chen also realized that with each increase in his Soul Power Realm, he required more Soul Power than an average person. The majority of the Soul Power entering his body was forcefully siphoned away by the Demon Lotus, leaving him with no means to counteract it.
"Those juniors from the Major Forces have countless Soul Stones at their disposal, yet their strength isn’t particularly impressive. Absorbing Soul Power from Soul Stones is akin to forcing growth; many wouldn’t dare to do so."
"Refining Soul Stones to enhance one's Soul Power Realm also takes a significant toll on the body. There are drawbacks in every aspect, yet I can’t sense any negative effects at all. My body feels perfectly normal, and there are no repercussions; this must be a benefit brought by the Demon Lotus."
As Wei Chen absorbed the Soul Power from the Soul Stones and gradually elevated his Soul Power Realm, he contemplated internally.
"Each level of advancement in Spirit Realm requires an immense amount of Soul Power. The Demon Lotus has absorbed half of it; I wonder what it’s doing with it. To reach the pinnacle of Spirit Realm, I might need to consume four Soul Stones."
"Damn it, I only have six in total. I might have to seek out that young Beautiful Woman from Elegant again. The Soul Technique I obtained at Sword Mountain is simply insufficient."
If anyone were to learn of these thoughts, they would likely be driven to kill Wei Chen on the spot. Such an unfathomable rate of advancement in Soul Power Realm was beyond anyone's reach. In Ling City, there were many who possessed far more cultivation resources than Wei Chen, yet none could refine Soul Stones without side effects as he did.
A gradual process was always necessary.
In the entire Soul World, Wei Chen was unparalleled, indifferent to any backlash or side effects.
It was the fifth hour of the night.
Knock, knock, knock!
The sound of knocking echoed, causing Wei Chen to frown. That scent was far too familiar. Why had that woman come?
He opened the door to find Elegant standing outside.
"Beautiful lady, coming here at this hour—are you hoping for a little rendezvous?" Wei Chen said with a grin.
Elegant flashed him a seductive smile and replied lightly, "If you dare, I wouldn't mind keeping you company."
"I wouldn't dare," Wei Chen shook his head bluntly. "What do you want?"
"Are you not going to let me in? Afraid that your sister might eat you?" Elegant remained standing outside the door.
Wei Chen stepped aside, allowing Elegant to enter the room.
He quietly assessed her as a wave of heat surged from his lower abdomen. Elegant wore a sheer dress that clung to her voluptuous figure, making her look incredibly alluring in the dimly lit room. Around her neck hung a heart-shaped blue jade pendant, resting in the deep valley of her cleavage, causing Wei Chen to swallow hard.
Especially those gentle, watery eyes made his heart race.
"This woman is truly exquisite; every inch of her is enticing. Coming to find me at this late hour—could it be that she really has taken a liking to me?" Wei Chen's mind wandered off into wild thoughts.
“Master Wei, Elegant has come late at night to discuss something important with you.” Elegant sat directly on the edge of the bed, swinging her smooth legs lightly, her expression gentle.
“Just speak plainly; I don’t like beating around the bush.”
“Alright, I’ll be straightforward. I wonder which Cloud Spirit Sect you intend to join now that you’re in Ling City?”
A hint of bitter amusement flickered in Wei Chen's eyes as he shook his head. “If you could find your way here, you must have quite a network. You should know a bit about my situation.”
“I do know,” Elegant nodded.
“Then what do you think? Which Cloud Spirit Sect could I possibly join?” Wei Chen countered.
Elegant smiled but said nothing. She pulled the blanket behind her for support and elegantly reclined, her skirt riding up high, causing Wei Chen’s gaze to fixate.
He stared intently at her exposed thighs, thinking that since she was deliberately showing them to him, ignoring it would mean denying her face.
“Master Wei, why are you standing so far away? Come sit closer on the bed so we can talk.”
