Cui Ming replied, "Eva is different from you all, different from what you see. I used to think that Eva was carefree and lived a lavish life, with nothing good in her head. But actually... well, let's put it this way: when we meet occasionally, she might tease me a bit, but after spending a few days together, she shows no interest in me at all."
Li Qing nodded. "Mi Xiaonan, do you get what he means? He’s saying that he thought he couldn't fight alongside us in the Competition Match, so he just found any team. Right, junior?"
"Yes."
Li Qing was satisfied. "Good, then you can just make a change in Hero City."
Cui Ming was taken aback. "Is it that casual?"
Li Qing said, "Temporary changes are allowed. Unless you like Eva and were just lying to us."
Vlad, who had been quietly observing the four of them discuss, interjected, "I don't think Cui Ming likes Eva."
Li Qing looked at Vlad. "What do you know? Just cool off." This is a conversation between my fellow disciples; it’s none of your business.
Vlad shrugged and sat down next to Wei Wei. Wei Wei whispered, "Do you think Cui Ming doesn't like Eva because he likes Beiyue?"
Vlad nodded and glanced at the four of them. "It's strange; they’re all young. I feel like Beiyue has some feelings for Cui Ming too. Although their relationship isn't deep enough for tragic love, under normal circumstances, they should open their hearts and become lovers. After they start dating, they can see if they're suitable for each other."
Wei Wei leaned against the railing and said, "Beiyue herself is quite confused. She realizes her potential is very strong, but to utilize that potential, she can't have too many emotions." Beiyue was about to become an Alliance Hunter, gaining access to a lot of information and privileges. With her strength guaranteed, if she finds out her father's whereabouts and Cui Ming still holds onto some feelings without any other women involved, there would still be a good chance for them.
At that moment, Cui Ming's voice came through clearly, evidently pushed to his limits. "Senior brother, what do you mean by your comments about me and Sister Wei Wei? You’ve been silent all this way, yet your expressions say so much. What do you mean?"
Li Qing argued back, "This judge refuses to let you change the topic."
Beiyue slammed the table. "This juror is very interested in the new topic raised by Cui Ming. Now I propose we remove Li Qing from his position as judge and make him the defendant. Cui Ming will temporarily take on the role of judge." She enjoyed stirring up trouble; the key was that Li Qing was being cornered. Beiyue could sense that Cui Ming still had some feelings for her but regrettably couldn’t accept them.
Mi Xiaonan chimed in, "This secretary agrees to change the topic."
Wei Wei calmly turned around, her interest piqued as she looked at Li Qing. Li Qing's right hand remained stiff in the air for a long moment before he said, "The defendant has nothing to say and firmly pleads not guilty."
Before anyone else could speak, Wei Wei asked, "On what grounds do you plead not guilty? Do you remember what you did to me at Yunzhushan?"
"Wow." Cui Ming and the others exclaimed in unison, turning to stare at Li Qing.
Li Qing hurriedly replied, "I didn't do anything."
Wei Wei smiled as she walked over and sat on the back of Mi Xiaonan's chair. She asked, "Have you forgotten about Yunzhushan?"
"..." Li Qing gritted his teeth for a long time before slamming his hand on the table and angrily asking, "What's wrong? You had a man first; I didn't betray my promise."
"Wow." Everyone turned to look at Wei Wei.
Wei Wei was even more furious, gritting her teeth as she shouted, "You bastard! Let me tell you, if you dare to harm yourself, I will find a man to sleep with that very night. You really dare to do this!"
Everyone looked at Li Qing, who was blushing furiously for a long time before saying, "But you can't go sleep with another man."
Wei Wei asked, "Do you have any evidence that I slept with a man?"
"..." Li Qing was taken aback.
Wei Wei slammed the table again. "Do you have any evidence that I didn't sleep with a man?"
"..." Li Qing was speechless.
"Besides, whether I even find you appealing is still up for debate. You blinded yourself to show your sense of responsibility. But what about your promises to me?" Wei Wei became increasingly upset. She slammed the table once more. "What did I do to deserve this? Why should I bear the pain while you gouged out your eyes to balance your own feelings? Since we’re being honest now, explain yourself!"
"I... I..." Li Qing didn’t know how to respond.
"When you took off my clothes, didn’t you say all those sweet things? Something about swearing by the moon and the earth that you, Li Qing, would protect Wei Wei for life and never let her suffer any grievances? Just one month later, you went blind and ran off to become a monk. My innocence has been tarnished—who am I supposed to turn to for justice?"
Cui Ming exclaimed in astonishment, "I can't believe that sixteen-year-old Li Qing has such skills. What a beast!"
Li Qing's face turned crimson as he rested his forehead on the table. "I confess, I plead guilty."
Cui Ming slammed his hand on the table. "After this court's deliberation, Li Qing is found guilty of seducing a minor... Furthermore..."
Wei Wei exchanged glances with him, and Cui Ming continued, "Li Qing is sentenced to rekindle the old relationship and seek forgiveness from the harmed female for a period of one year. If he fails to comply, he will face castration, stripping him of his rights as a man. Court adjourned."
Half-serious and half-joking, Li Qing awkwardly said, "Xiao Wei, it's been over ten years; isn't it meaningless now?"
Wei Wei scoffed, "Whether it's meaningful or not, you decide." She turned and walked away.
Just as Li Qing was about to speak, the ship's alarm suddenly blared. The crew sprang into action, beginning to lower the lifeboats hanging around the ship. The captain announced over the intercom, "Ladies and gentlemen, the hull has sustained unknown damage, and the engine is severely damaged and cannot be repaired. As captain, I have decided to abandon ship. Please remain calm; we have plenty of time. First, assist the elderly, children, and women onto the lifeboats. There are enough lifeboats for everyone. First mate, be advised: if any crew members or staff attempt to board before all passengers have evacuated, you have my permission to use force."
Despite the captain's reassuring words, chaos erupted as passengers rushed out of the cabins. Soon there was a scramble and shouting echoed throughout the ship. A few practitioners remained calm; their Force ensured they wouldn't drown. Cui Ming remarked, "I didn't feel any impact."
Wei Wei nodded in agreement. "I didn't feel anything either. It's strange; if the engine is broken, how could the hull be damaged too?"
Beiyue asked, "Should we go ask the captain for clarification?"
Wei Wei shook her head. "No, we already know the situation with the ship. The captain is organizing an evacuation; we shouldn't disturb him. How well can you all swim?"
Cui Ming replied, "I'm okay in a swimming pool; we won't drown. The Force acts like a natural life jacket; with a piece of wood or something similar, we can use it like a speedboat." The Force was continuous; they could run on water or float on the sea with almost no risk of drowning. The surface of the sea felt no different from solid ground.
The captain's voice came over the intercom again: "Ten nautical miles away, a cargo ship has received our distress signal and is on its way here. Please remain calm. By the way, if any strong men try to board forcibly again, don't blame me for being rude. For everyone's sake, we need order—order."
As they were about to discuss further, another announcement came from the captain: "Strangely enough, water intake has decreased... Our crew is currently making emergency repairs. For safety reasons, please proceed to the lifeboats."
There were not many passengers on the ferry—just over a hundred—and with the captain's firm attitude, more than ten lifeboats were quickly deployed as passengers boarded them. The ship's crew prepared additional lifeboats but showed no intention of evacuating immediately.
Wei Wei and her group of six did not leave because they needed to prove their identities to the first mate. At this moment, they should allocate necessary resources to those in need; even the captain needed to evacuate more than they did.
The six had not yet come to any conclusions when the captain declared, "Pirates sighted, all personnel prepare for battle."
The captain commanded respect, and although the crew was somewhat dazed, they quickly began to drag out their weapons and arm themselves.
Cui Ming suddenly clapped his hands, a spark of realization hitting him. "The Pirate King Ronk has arrived." Although Cui Ming knew that the Force could not stop the flooding or destruction, this was the Pirate King. The first step was to separate the passengers from the ship's body, simplifying the robbery. The rescue cargo ship was clearly Lank's vessel. This area of sea was already on the edge of Lank's pirate threat zone; however, due to the joint efforts of the navies from various countries on the Eastern Continent, there had been no reported pirate attacks in this region for several years. Thus, the ferry from Twilight City to Divine Island ran daily without fail.
The six immediately went on high alert; Lank was not alone. He had companions who were practitioners as well, though few in number. Considering they were fighting at sea, it was hard to say who would be in charge.
At that moment, a massive wave surged up, and about ten meters from the ship's side, a figure emerged from the water. It was a giant, standing around three meters tall, with a bronze-colored upper body exposed. In his right hand, he hoisted a gigantic anchor; the weight of the anchor and chain was estimated to be several hundred kilograms.
The giant's force was extraordinary; he clearly wasn't a common creature found in Eternity. Given his physique, it could be confirmed that he was an intelligent being from another realm. The giant pointed his anchor at Cui Ming and the others and said, "We mean no harm; we only want to take something back. You'd best not try to be heroes."
Suddenly, a stream of water shot toward the six from thirty meters away. A Yorkian appeared—tall and scaled, with large eyes resembling those of a Fishman. He landed on a harpoon and swiftly flew toward them. Li Qing moved first; he kicked out with such force that it seemed as if he struck nothing but air. The Fishman halted mid-air, shimmering with golden light as Li Qing's flying kick passed through him. The Fishman was sent flying off the ship. Li Qing wasn't inexperienced either; he paused in mid-air, turned around, and returned with a flying kick. The Fishman hesitated momentarily before soaring over their heads and landing gracefully on the other side of the ship in the sea, riding the waves with ease on his harpoon.
Cui Ming and his companions remained still because Cui Ming had suggested they observe first—playing dumb while assessing their opponents. Clearly, their adversaries recognized that they were practitioners while they themselves knew nothing about their foes' capabilities; thus, it was wise not to act unless they all acted together.
Wei Wei stood on one leg atop the ship's railing with her Force Bow from the Transformational System in hand and asked, "What are you trying to steal?"
"We're just here to retrieve our brother," replied the giant as he turned to look at the astonished people in the lifeboat. It was then that Cui Ming noticed something unusual about those aboard the lifeboat. There were twelve people in total: two at both the bow and stern holding pistols while ten others sat in the middle with their hands clasped behind their heads.
Wei Wei whispered, "It seems these people are pirates; they must be those meant for transport to The Hague." (To be continued.)
