The President picked up the list beside him and flipped through it. "049, Cui Ming, the gap in strength with the Crow is too large. The Crow alone could probably take on this Bone Dragon."
Dina interjected, "Uncles, I don't quite agree with your viewpoint. The Bone Dragon's disadvantage is its size. Mi Xiaonan hitting its six seals is practically impossible in actual combat. Yellen's sword strike, if not for the Bone Dragon's size, wouldn't have landed either. Li Qing has speed but lacks damage. 049 has no basic means of escape; once targeted, there's no way to save himself. Raefus's move is powerful, but it takes several seconds to charge at close range—normally, no one would give him that opportunity. Among them, Wind is the most balanced."
The bald man nodded. "Nana makes a good point. Each of them has weaknesses. There's no rush; the Assessment Match has just begun. If we can't see clearly, we can assign them more tasks. However, it's not ideal for the Cao Family and Liu Family to just pass each other by like this. Nana, what do you think?"
"From a rules perspective, Cao and Liu did nothing wrong," Dina replied. "But from a human perspective, that move lacks generosity. The biggest threat in Sin City is the Bone Dragon; while others are fighting it, they rush off to complete their tasks."
The bald man sighed. "The Four Great Families are essentially defunct. It's hard to come by a batch of young people like this; one can only imagine the pressure they feel inside. Yet they brought along a burden like Mi Big Head."
Dina laughed. "Uncle, you may not know this, but the President held a meeting where they decided to include Mi Big Head in the alliance without limits. However, there must still be some boundaries in doing so, so each scoring judge will ease up a bit to let Mi Big Head's team pass. Cao and Liu clearly know about this matter. As for the second half of the match, it will be individual battles; Mi Big Head and Yorkian are kind-hearted—whatever benefits we send to Mi Big Head will likely end up in their hands. So Mi Big Head is not just a burden; he’s actually a blessing for their team."
The bald man looked at the President, who nodded in agreement. "There are many reasons for giving Mi Big Head special treatment. First of all, he is one of the planet's most outstanding scientists and has made significant contributions to humanity; the Eternity Alliance puts pressure on us regarding this matter. Secondly, the alliance desperately needs scientific researchers—we're severely lacking in professional talent. Who knows? Mi Big Head might completely transform Hero City. Lastly, if you think Mi Big Head is a burden, you're gravely mistaken. His true strength hasn't been revealed yet; you'll see it during the individual battles in the second half."

The Main Magic Array of the arena was a replication array that mimicked a city scene. However, being inside as a person felt very stiff; the hospital staff appeared zombie-like in expression and drifted around like souls without purpose. Cui Ming couldn't help but pinch a girl's cheek; it felt alright to him. The girl looked at Cui Ming and replied, "Get away."
The people inside the city only knew these few phrases: "I don't know," "Get away," "Scram," etc.
Since that was the case, there was no need to treat them as real people anymore. They barged into the hospital, checked the map, and headed straight for the basement Morgue. The Morgue was located in the basement of the inpatient department and consisted of a long row of cabinets—over a hundred cabinets by number. The Morgue was empty; there were no people or other items inside. Li Qing listened for a moment and responded, "Nothing." Mi Xiaonan was outside scouting.
Cui Ming grabbed his walkie-talkie: "Beiyue, we've arrived at the Morgue; how's it going on your end?"
"Have you found anything yet?" Beiyue replied. "Can a Ghoul change? Could it disguise itself among humans?"
"It shouldn't be possible," Cui Ming said. "I haven't heard of any practitioners mastering such advanced techniques. Let's check back later."
Li Qing added, "We need to pull the cabinet open." There was a barrier, preventing Force from sensing anything.
Cui Ming nodded and opened the first cabinet. Inside lay a body covered with a white cloth. He lifted it slightly and saw an old man, completely naked. Not the one.
He moved on to the second, then the third...
By the forty-second cabinet, Li Qing said, "I'm hungry."
Cui Ming replied, "There's fresh meat; just start a fire yourself."
Li Qing shot back, "That joke isn't funny at all."
Cui Ming laughed heartily and opened the forty-eighth cabinet. Inside was another corpse. As he lifted the cloth, he asked, "How strong is this Ghoul really?"
Before Li Qing could respond, something flew at Cui Ming and kicked him hard. Almost simultaneously, something burst out from under the sheet—a creature resembling a human but with a larger head, sharp teeth, and claw-like fingers. It moved with incredible speed, darting out and slapping Cui Ming's body with its claws.
Li Qing reacted quickly, delivering a flying kick that sent Cui Ming flying, tearing away a large chunk of flesh along with his clothes.
The Ghoul retaliated by grabbing Li Qing's body with its claws. Li Qing clasped his hands together and shouted, "Iron Cloth!" The sound of metal scraping against metal echoed in the air. The Ghoul jumped back onto all fours and looked up at Li Qing.
Li Qing asked, "Cui Ming?"
"He's done for," came the grim reply. The Life Stone showed only twenty remaining and was steadily decreasing. This was due to the Ghoul's infection; any wound that was torn would cause ongoing damage.
Li Qing sensed danger and warned, "Prepare yourself."
Cui Ming immediately entered a state of focus, the drop rate of the Life Stone slowing down. The Ghoul lunged at Cui Ming, who remained motionless. Li Qing flew to Cui Ming's side, summoning a golden shield to protect him, delivering a punch to the Ghoul's head and then kicking it away, causing the Ghoul's attack to miss.
Cui Ming looked at the Ghoul and said, "Paralysis, this isn't an ordinary NPC; it's role-playing. This guy truly exists."
The Ghoul chuckled and turned to leap out of the window, sprinting away.
Li Qing grabbed the walkie-talkie. "It's out, Mi Xiaonan. Beiyue is with us."
"That was fast," Mi Xiaonan replied as a creature burst out of the hospital, moving with the agility of Tarzan. In mere seconds, it climbed to the top of the seventh floor and jumped off the rooftop. Mi Xiaonan immediately pursued, looking down from the rooftop but saw no trace. Alarmed, Mi Xiaonan thought, this is an open area; how could it disappear so quickly?
Li Qing arrived shortly after, scanning with sound waves and asking, "Where is it?"
"Four seconds, and it's gone," Mi Xiaonan answered.
"This is bad, Cui Ming." The Ghoul hadn't fled outside but had jumped down and returned to the hospital, heading for the Morgue to attack Cui Ming, who was in a state of recovery thanks to the Life Stone.
Cui Ming was right; this Ghoul was indeed real and a member of the Alliance Otherworldly Beasts Department, possessing considerable intelligence. It quickly deduced that Cui Ming was the easiest target to bully and decided to lure Li Qing away before pouncing on the Morgue. At that moment, Li Qing had just left.
However, there was no one in the Morgue. The Ghoul felt a pang of unease; this kid was incredibly cunning—where could he be hiding? In which cabinet?
The Ghoul sneered and grabbed a cabinet, yanking it hard until it toppled over, dozens of corpses covered in white cloth falling to the ground. The Ghoul glanced around before jumping toward another row of cabinets. Just then, one of the bodies under a white sheet sat up—it was Cui Ming. A card labeled Draw a Line to Trap flew through the air and locked onto the Ghoul.
The Ghoul turned in shock. "Did you use Extinction?"
"Heh heh." Cui Ming turned and ran out of the corridor before extinguishing his Force and stealthily returning outside the Morgue, pressing against the wall. Seconds later, the Ghoul roared and charged out of the door in pursuit. Cui Ming turned back into the Morgue, sitting atop a fallen cabinet with a sigh: "Intelligence is a hard flaw."
Li Qing arrived, sensing the situation and exclaimed, "How are you still alive?"
"It would take a while to explain. I have a plan, but it requires your cooperation."
...
In the small park outside the hospital's inpatient department, Li Qing and Mi Xiaonan surrounded the Ghoul, while Cui Ming was drawing cards from a distance. This wasn't something you could just grab at will. Previously, Cui Ming had drawn "Draw a Line to Trap" before sitting up to attack. He shouted, "Hey, little ghost, your IQ isn't up to par."
The Ghoul didn't respond, merely snorted in irritation. He had no intention of fleeing immediately; after being tricked by Cui Ming, he was filled with rage. He had calculated Li Qing's speed and planned to take out Cui Ming as soon as Li Qing moved aside. As for Mi Xiaonan, although fast, she lacked any means of protection. Cui Ming knew he had to provoke the Ghoul to keep him around. Thus, Li Qing received the hint that he needed to feign indifference while subtly protecting Cui Ming, lingering in positions where he could intervene.
"Haha." Cui Ming was overjoyed as he clutched a Yellow Card and ran forward. Upon seeing this, the Ghoul turned and fled. This tactic was ineffective when paired with Li Qing but terrifying when combined with Mi Xiaonan. The Ghoul had witnessed Mi Xiaonan activate "Ultimate Thunderstorm" after marking with six "Chidori." Once trapped and marked, there would be no escape...
Li Qing and Mi Xiaonan coordinated their pursuit when suddenly the Yellow Card in Cui Ming's hand vanished. He turned and ran. The Ghoul noticed Li Qing's position and was elated, pivoting to chase after Cui Ming. Li Qing rushed forward but couldn't catch up to the Ghoul. Just as it seemed the Ghoul would reach Cui Ming, he turned around with a goofy smile, twirling his fingers as the Yellow Card reappeared in his hand and flew out.
Mi Xiaonan seemed to have anticipated this; bolts of Chidori shot toward the immobilized Ghoul, transforming into a ball of lightning that struck him down. Upon landing, she formed seals and slapped her palm against the Ghoul's body: "Ninjutsu Secret Technique: Thunderstorm."
Just as she spoke, the Ghoul suddenly lunged forward; Mi Xiaonan's Thunderstorm exploded in mid-air. Despite this, countless bolts of lightning still lashed out at the Ghoul, who curled into a ball and rolled forward, crashing into a large tree. He was injured but considered himself lucky. The Ghoul quickly assessed his situation. He needed to run but saw an excellent opportunity—Cui Ming was unprotected. Just two moves...
Fueled by anger from being toyed with by Cui Ming twice, the Ghoul lunged at him. Just as he was about to reach him, Cui Ming suddenly smiled and flipped his right hand over to reveal a Yellow Card.
Damn humans! The Ghoul used his limbs to propel himself sideways and crashed into the hospital, sprinting wildly. Wait? That Yellow Card didn’t carry any force; it was just an ordinary yellow paper card—another trick played on him...
Mi Xiaonan lamented, "So close." Although the Ghoul wasn't immune to the Yellow Card's effects, it did have some resistance against it. For Li Qing, trapping a thief took seven seconds; for Beiyue, six seconds; yet this Ghoul only had four seconds left. (To be continued.)
