Hong Lickqi arrived outside the temple, feeling no change in the surroundings. He led a group of about a hundred people to search around the temple, but they found nothing.
"Young Master... could he be inside?" a squad leader whispered to Hong.
"It's hard to say. Let's keep searching outside for now. If he really went in, there should be some traces left behind..." Hong thought of his captain, Yu Tian. Perhaps he was no longer a captain but an enemy. How he wished it were him; this time, he felt he could surpass his captain. During their days in Dream Seeker One, Yu Tian always stole the spotlight, and Hong had felt a twinge of jealousy back then. After their last defeat, he had practiced magic relentlessly and sought out many magic tutors to teach him.
"Alright..." The nearly one hundred Beast Soldiers spread out, searching the small forest surrounding the temple. Others surrounded the temple, carefully examining the steps in hopes of discovering any clues.
"Stop talking and get on with it..." The atmosphere inside the spaceship became tense as the captain grew angry. The crew complied without question, even Little Knife ceased his usual playful demeanor. Reynold quickly cut off communication and rushed to Fan Qing's side, urging him to immediately locate First Officer Kris using Satellite positioning.
Kris stood frozen for a moment but soon snapped back to reality.
"I am the First Officer; I can't hold everyone back..." Not wanting to worry others, Kris began searching for direction on his own. However, things went awry as he found himself moving further in the opposite direction.
At that moment, Senri and Sain, who had received orders, quickly returned. Sain, who was already veering off course, suddenly noticed his positioning device and hurried back. Although he moved quickly forward, his urgency upon returning caused him to wear a small emergency flight device that minimized unnecessary delays.
Everyone soon gathered in the cockpit, ready to follow Captain Reynold's orders. They all regained their military composure; the situation was dire. Although it was just one teammate in danger, the lives of their comrades were more important than their own in the eyes of the Galactic Warriors.
"Wenke, activate the spaceship immediately... How is Kris running in the opposite direction? Quickly track him down accurately; we’ll send a wave of robots to bring him back..." Reynold spoke rapidly but then added, "No, if he encounters other aliens, things will get worse... First go retrieve Kris. Then we’ll head straight to the pyramid at full speed—hurry!"
"Understood!" The spaceship powered up quickly, its massive external engines blasting strong currents that left deep imprints on the smooth grass below. It took off in a straight line before accelerating towards the west where Kris was heading.
At this moment, the members aboard the spaceship were all on edge. Sain had consulted the captain and then rushed to the launch room, piloting a small spacecraft, waiting until the Mother Ship was close enough to the Vice Captain to retrieve Kris.
Hikamu remained calm despite the chaos. He was sprinting inside, preparing to search for another exit. Trained under the brutal regimen of the CRB Organization, those selected for such high-level missions were elite individuals, rigorously tested for their physical capabilities.
The corridor of the temple was long, with thousands of steps leading down into darkness. Hikamu had only his Laser Emitter to illuminate the way, adjusting its frequency for temporary light. The length of the corridor provided him with some reassurance; such a narrow and elongated passage was ideal for one against many combat scenarios.
Time passed as he raced down the wide steps at a rapid pace. While an ordinary person would surely tire after running so far, Hikamu pushed through, focused on finding another exit at the end of the room.
However, after searching meticulously for over ten minutes, he reached a desperate conclusion: it was a dead end.
“Captain, there are no other passages inside the pyramid; I’m trapped!” Hikamu's voice trembled slightly. In situations like this, fear was inevitable; even if he wasn't afraid outwardly, a deep-seated fear lingered within.
“What? Trapped? This is bad… There are over a hundred of them. How many weapons do you have left?” In the cockpit, Reynold pressed his hands against the control panel, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. Time was of the essence; with enough time, they could surely rescue Hikamu.
“I still have one Laser Emitter left. I’ve used some energy for lighting, so there’s about half an hour of stable firing time remaining. For combat purposes, it should only last around ten minutes!” Hikamu knew that finding another exit in such a short time was unlikely and began to retrace his steps. This way, he could create enough space to fight without being completely overwhelmed.
“Is that all? This is going to be tough… Hikamu, don’t worry; we’ll be there soon. Can you report on the situation in that corridor?” It was nearly impossible to arrive in time for a rescue.
“Captain, we found the Vice Captain!” Lan Liu leaned closer to Reynold and whispered.
“Get him onboard quickly!” At that moment, Sain had already flown out from the Mother Ship.
The small spacecraft soon landed beside Kris. When Reynold noticed Kris moving in the opposite direction, he called out for him to stop and stay put. The two exchanged brief greetings before the spacecraft powered up again and headed back to the recovery bay.
The massive body suddenly swayed, turning its head in the opposite direction and accelerating away. Although the Dream Seeker could reach speeds faster than light, such high-speed flight was nearly meaningless close to the ground. One could imagine that during the process of accelerating to light speed and then decelerating, it could easily fly out of a black hole and reach distant places. However, flying close to the ground while ensuring safety meant that even advanced spacecraft would have significantly reduced speeds. Otherwise, Yu Tian wouldn't have been so easily captured while piloting the ship.
A tremendous airflow stirred up a whirlwind in the air, scattering countless dust particles in all directions.
"Head towards the pyramid!" Reynold's command clearly did not match the reaction speed of the others. At this moment, the ship had already begun its return journey, allowing everyone to breathe a little easier.
"Captain, there are steps here that are less than a meter high, and there’s nothing on either side to hide behind..." Hikamu quickly reported on the situation inside the cave.
"Then just stay as close to the exit as possible; that way you can buy us more time. We'll be there soon... And if it's that high, you can hide at the top of the cave!" After Reynold spoke, he realized that Hikamu would have to analyze and adapt based on his own situation; there was little more he could suggest to help.
At that moment, reports from Hong Lickqi and the Beast Soldiers kept coming in, leading to an immediate decision to enter the temple together. They left only a few outside to monitor the situation before heading into the corridor. A small Magic Sphere floated ahead of the group, guiding their path.
Fortunately, the corridor was tall and not too narrow, making it easy to climb up. Hikamu estimated that they were only about two hundred meters from the outside when he heard continuous footsteps approaching from outside.
"They're here already?" Hikamu calmly placed his weapon into its gear box and used his hands and feet to climb up against the stone wall.
Initially, Hong Lickqi led the way without noticing anyone above and continued moving forward. With nearly a hundred people in such a narrow corridor stretching almost a hundred meters long, Hikamu thought that if any weapons were aimed from outside, they could quickly suppress such a large number of enemies...
However, just as he prepared to closely observe these creatures' appearances, he was startled. A drop of cold sweat trickled down his cheek and perfectly landed on one of the Beast Soldiers' faces. The Beast Soldier looked up curiously at first, surprised for just a moment before shouting loudly:
"Someone's up there!!!"
