It was the moment when the Dream Seeker II spaceship had fully entered the deceleration and landing phase. Reynold's expression turned serious at the words of crew member Wenke. He truly did not believe that any living beings could exist here; even landing on a black hole seemed questionable to him. According to the spaceship's report, the gravitational pull of this black hole was entirely escapable. But how could there be life here? There was no sun, which surely meant a lack of many conditions necessary for life.
However, as the spaceship continued its descent, he witnessed the beautiful sky surrounding the black hole. Many rays of light swirling around it formed a colorful ribbon, which could serve as a source of illumination. Additionally, data from the Oxygen Reactor indicated that oxygen comprised half of the atmospheric composition in this area. This meant that the external environment was likely better than that inside the spaceship. The possibility of life existing here made Reynold feel excited yet compelled to become serious. If that were the case, the difficulty of their mission would increase significantly.
“Wenke, Fan Qing, you two along with Gideon, focus on piloting the ship and ensure a safe landing,” Reynold instructed quietly as he approached them from behind.
“Understood…” The three responded in unison before burying themselves back into their array of buttons.

“Everyone, we initially did not anticipate life existing here, and now we do not know whether they are friend or foe. However, I believe we are all elites; this little challenge is nothing! Lan Liu, you will handle the detection data and report to me at all times.” Reynold stood alongside Kris, and the two captains were discussing strategies. Kris appeared to be inexplicably fatigued and authorized Reynold to take full control of the ship's affairs temporarily.
After hearing her assignment, Lan Liu felt somewhat reluctant but recognized it was a task only she could perform. She quickly settled beside the analyzer, her fingers tapping away at buttons or gliding across the screen as she analyzed various data.
“Sward, you and Sain will go down to assess the situation after landing… I’m talking to you! Little Knife!” At that moment, Little Knife was lost in thought, his face still flushed as he seemed to be immersed in the scene where he had just been teased. Hearing his captain call out specifically snapped him back to attention, and he replied with a hesitant “Hmm.”
However, he genuinely did not understand what command had been given and had no choice but to ask Sain beside him. At this point, Reynold sternly repeated his command, causing Little Knife to stand straight up, not daring to breathe.
“Sain, data analysis; one person should be enough for Alan.” Seeing that Sain was not looking towards another data processing machine next to Lan Liu, he understood his thoughts.
“Got it!” Noticing Little Knife's discomfort, Sain had a sudden idea. He immediately pulled Little Knife along and said, “Captain, um… they went to the aft cabin to get tools…”
"Captain, what are we staying here for?" Hikamu broke the temporary silence, his gaze sweeping over his captain Kris before settling on the ship's commander. This was his immediate superior, and he admired this legendary figure of the galaxy. However, he couldn't understand why the captain always mentioned someone named Yu Tian during his stories, as if that person were even more impressive than himself.
"We're here to protect the ship. Our large weapons are limited... Senri, you need to find an energy extraction point within a hundred meters of where the ship is stationed. Only then can we plan for the long term. Otherwise, relying on this little stored energy won't allow us to fight or even return to the Galaxy System," Reynold quickly identified another pressing issue that needed addressing. If they encountered other life forms on this planet, a battle was likely inevitable, despite their proficiency in close combat. However, limited by human physicality, they had no countermeasures against larger opponents.
"Understood!" Senri recognized the seriousness of his task and immediately responded, taking a seat in front of the Satellite's data return screen, ready to execute his mission.
"You can let... oh right, Hikamu, you and Sward—Little Knife—switch tasks, okay?" Reynold suddenly remembered that Little Knife was a decent programmer but had been slacking off during training sessions, consistently underperforming in martial arts. He felt uneasy about sending him out, especially since he had been a teammate for so many years. From First Officer Kris, he learned that Hikamu was a martial arts expert and should be more suitable for the task.
"Absolutely!" After receiving a nod from his captain Kris, Hikamu immediately replied loudly and prepared to open the hatch to retrieve combat gear from the aft cabin.
"Then call Little Knife over and have him write several detection and combat programs. We may need to utilize some robots if necessary," Reynold instructed Hikamu to relay this command to avoid wasting time.
"Got it!" Hikamu said before opening the hatch and quickly running toward the aft cabin.
"Senri, take a moment to rest," Reynold thought it best to assess the ship's condition before proceeding with the detection mission.
"Kris, you monitor the front of the ship... I'll also keep an eye on the rear. If anything happens, we'll notify each other!" Reynold looked at the First Officer.
"Understood!" Kris replied as he headed toward the aft cabin.
"Wenke, you will pilot the ship with Fan Qing and Gideon. Ensure that you can respond promptly in case of danger..."
"Yes!" The three were focused on resource allocation and navigation adjustments without lifting their heads. Seeing everyone so diligently at work reassured Reynold; with such hardworking subordinates, they would surely handle any unforeseen circumstances well.
"Captain! The ship has successfully landed; there are no life forms within a hundred kilometers," Wenke's voice came through the Nano Communicator in his ear.
At that moment, Reynold picked up a miniature Laser Gun and an infrared detector while securing a nuclear launcher at his waist. He was fully equipped and felt confident with these tools. Suddenly noticing something shiny in a small box, he walked over to investigate—it was a sharp dagger. A smile crept onto his face as he skillfully picked it up and spun it around in his hand before placing it into an empty pouch.
"Tell them to get ready quickly!" Reynold informed Fan Qing, sending a message to the other team members.
"Yes!"
Hearing the response from Wenke, Reynold stepped out of the armory and headed toward the cockpit. As he walked down the corridor, he noticed the First Officer gazing out at the scenery through the glass window, and a strange feeling washed over him. Despite their brief encounter, it felt as if they had known each other for ages.
He chuckled to himself, thinking it was just his infatuation with this handsome man! Shaking off his thoughts, he continued on his way and encountered Hikamu and Sain, who were jogging toward the exit.
"Good luck to you both!" Reynold called out.
"We'll complete the mission, Captain!" The two paused momentarily to salute.
"We all need to come back home together! Make sure you return safely..."
"Understood!"
With that, they dashed out of the spaceship.
Watching their retreating figures, Reynold felt a fleeting sensation, but it quickly vanished.
Here’s hoping that the reconstruction efforts in Yushu continue to improve and that those who have lost loved ones can soon find solace...
