The Wind Elemental departed, leaving behind a rather nice bracelet for Yu Tian, simply referred to as the Wind Bracelet. Although he had no idea what it truly was, Yu Tian guessed it must be valuable; after all, it was a gift from an Elemental God. After leaving the Wind Elemental Realm, guided by Shui Er, Yu Tian arrived at the perilous Thunder Domain. What kind of place was this? As one of the last two Otherworlds, what challenges awaited him?
Shui Er soared through the air effortlessly, having adapted to this sensationless existence, while Yu Tian struggled to keep up and had to use the Gale Technique to follow her from a distance.
Before long, Yu Tian felt himself pass through an invisible barrier. Looking down, he saw rocky terrain instead of desert, indicating he had exited the Wind Elemental Realm and entered the Thunder Domain.
Yet here, apart from the scattered rocks, there was nothing but desolation.
"Is this really the Thunder Elemental Realm?" To Yu Tian, these places where Elemental Gods resided should have been filled with vibrant environments. Even in the Wind Elemental Realm, despite the desert below, the sky was beautiful. But at the edge of this Thunder Elemental Realm, the sky was dark and the ground rugged.
Suddenly, Shui Er let out a loud howl. Yu Tian looked ahead but couldn't see her figure. Turning around, he found Shui Er gazing upward.
While Yu Tian was lost in thought, Shui Er had fallen behind significantly. What had caught her attention? Curious, Yu Tian also looked up and was taken aback.
Above them were not white clouds or gentle light; instead, dark storm clouds loomed ominously.
The rolling clouds churned like boiling water. Lightning crackled within them, striking the rocks below and igniting bursts of fire. Upon closer inspection, each rock hit by lightning shattered into pieces instantly.
"Shui Er, is this really the Thunder Elemental Realm?" Yu Tian's heart raced in fear. If his luck ran out and he got struck by lightning, would he still be standing here?
"This is indeed the Thunder Elemental Realm! We should get down! Brother Tian, being up this high makes us easy targets for lightning!" Upon hearing Shui Er's warning, Yu Tian quickly descended onto a nearby rock as she did too. Watching the increasingly close lightning and the fragments of stone scattered around him made him feel as if his spirit was being struck along with each shattering rock.
The Cosmic Pearl around Yu Tian's neck combined with the Earth Spirit Shield to form a protective barrier around him. These items sensed the pressure he felt and began to fluctuate in energy, ready to offer their protection.
As the scattered light illuminated his surroundings, Yu Tian could still vaguely see what lay around him. He actively raised another barrier; the Earth Spirit Shield appeared outside his body. Surely these defenses would keep him safe? Yu Tian reassured himself.
"Shui Er, can you take me to meet the Thunder Elemental?" At that moment, Yu Tian felt that being with this Elemental God might be his safest option. He grew anxious; after all, lightning was endless while his energy was limited—especially his mental strength that governed his energy.
"Of course! Brother Tian! But you need to be careful; the Thunder Array here is very complex. Getting hit would be disastrous! Just stick close to me!"
"Oh... so it's a Thunder Array..." Only then did Yu Tian understand why there were so many lightning strikes. It was terrifying to witness; it turned out to be just a formation. "I thought this Thunder Elemental lived in such an environment? It seems they are just putting on a show for me; what a splendid welcome ceremony..." With that thought in mind, Yu Tian felt relieved. This lightning-filled Thunder Array must be controlled; everything that is controlled has its weaknesses.
Yu Tian activated the Gale Technique again and floated slightly off the ground. Walking on this rocky terrain was indeed challenging; flying through the air would allow him to move much faster while constantly dodging nearby lightning strikes.
Shui Er leaped over a large rock and ran ahead. Yu Tian immediately flew in her direction, catching up with her.
Around them, glowing lightning illuminated the pitch-black ground, accompanied by deafening thunder. With each flash of lightning came a loud crash. The lightning and thunder seemed to be mocking the newcomer, Yu Tian.
Suddenly, when Yu Tian was not paying attention, a flash of light appeared. It was a bolt of lightning that struck unexpectedly, hitting the barrier with a heavy impact.
"Earth Spirit Shield!" He quickly activated the shield to block the current. Fortunately, the electric sparks danced on the barrier for a moment before diving underground. At that moment, Yu Tian felt as if he had been struck on the head. He warned himself again: if he continued to be this careless, he would surely meet an untimely end!
"That was close! If I had faced the Thunder Elemental Realm at the beginning of my journey in the Otherworld, it would have been disastrous!" Yu Tian thought as he saw Shui Er darting left and right, already a distance away from him. He quickened his pace to catch up. Indeed, if it weren't for the training he had undergone earlier that helped him adapt to this environment, along with the magical artifacts gifted by the Elemental God, he would have struggled much more.
Shui Er seemed to be joyfully bouncing forward while Yu Tian dodged the lightning and chased after her. A wolf appeared to be playing in the game, but the figure behind seemed somewhat disheveled.
After flying for a long time, Yu Tian finally caught up with Shui Er.
Taking a deep breath, he asked, "Shui Er, how much longer until we reach the residence of the Thunder God?" He was indeed growing impatient; if it remained this dangerous, he feared he might exhaust himself before even reaching his destination for the trial…
"The Thunder Elemental Realm is vast, and the Thunder Elemental doesn't have a fixed residence, so finding him can be a bit tricky. However! I can smell his presence; just follow me and we'll find him soon!" Shui Er said as she proudly flaunted her backside at Yu Tian, as if showing off.
"Alright!" Yu Tian could hardly tolerate Shui Er's dry humor when another explosion echoed nearby. He immediately dispersed again. As he continued to dodge, the lightning became increasingly dense, constricting Yu Tian's range of movement.
At that moment, Shui Er also sensed the pressure and had to revert to her original form. Although her body grew significantly larger, a thin mist surrounded her after returning to her original state. The lightning disappeared upon entering this mist, allowing Shui Er to bounce forward joyfully once more.
Though Yu Tian was protected by the barrier, it seemed that the power of the Earth Spirit Shield was weakening; occasional sparks of lightning slipped through the shield and struck him. Although it was just a slight jolt, Yu Tian knew that if he didn't end this soon, the pain would only intensify. The healing ability of the Cosmic Pearl could restore him instantly, but no one wanted to endure such suffering: it was like being stabbed and then healed only to be stabbed again repeatedly—an endless cycle that could drive anyone mad, reminiscent of characters from Greek mythology.
In addition to healing wounds, the Cosmic Pearl also provided energy to keep Yu Tian's mind alert. The bracelet gifted by the Wind Elemental also transmitted energy intermittently; at this moment, Yu Tian felt no effects from the lightning but rather an increase in his strength.
"No matter how difficult it is, I must push through! Besides, my contract with the elements hasn't been dissolved yet!" Yu Tian still worried that his contract might affect his grand ambitions but decided he needed to find a way to break it.
"Brother Tian! Come quickly; we're not far from the Thunder Elemental!" Shui Er's voice pierced through the flashes of lightning and reached Yu Tian's ears.
This invigorated Yu Tian once more as he swiftly flew toward her voice. They were finally nearing their destination; it was getting closer…
Indeed, after flying for a short while longer, he could vaguely see a shadow weaving through the dark clouds, occasionally emitting flashes of light.
It seemed that this fellow was making things difficult for himself! Yu Tian really wanted to challenge the Thunder Elemental one-on-one, but thinking of its overwhelming power, he decided against it.
Shui Er suddenly stopped, crouching among the stones and said, "Brother Tian, quickly get on my back! This will be faster!"
Yu Tian thought for a moment and then leaped onto Shui Er's back. It turned out Shui Er was quite large! Riding on Shui Er, they sped up significantly. Despite its massive size, it was surprisingly agile, and soon they caught up to the shadow.
"Thunder Elemental! Don't run away! I'm in a hurry; let me pass through here!" Yu Tian shouted loudly.
Hearing Yu Tian's desperate call, the shadow came to a halt, and the flashes of lightning and thunder diminished considerably.
The Thunder Elemental flew towards Yu Tian. At that moment, Yu Tian jumped off Shui Er's back and stood on a large stone, raising a protective shield. The power of the lightning had lessened enough for the shield to hold.
Shui Er also shrank its body down and sat beside Yu Tian, watching as the Thunder Elemental approached.
Yu Tian floated up into the air, maintaining the same height as the Thunder Elemental, gazing at it intently.
"I know, young man! The Fire Old Man has already given me a heads-up. Even so, Yu Tian still needs to undergo a small test," the Thunder Elemental said, its form becoming strangely distorted under the lightning, surrounded by jumping bolts. Anyone who got too close would be in serious trouble. Yu Tian couldn't fathom how other Elemental Gods communicated with this dangerous being; surely they didn't just extend their hands for a handshake!
"What is it?" Yu Tian was already prepared and summoned Little Ru, ready for battle.
"Lightning Punishment!" The voice of the Thunder Elemental rang in Yu Tian's ears like two heavy bells tolling! What could this terrifying thing possibly be? Yu Tian looked at the Thunder Elemental in confusion as cold sweat began to rise from his feet to his head...
