In the Otherworld, Yu Tian had once unleashed a spell that created a ruptured space. To him, it was merely a forbidden technique, and the Elemental God had only warned him about it. When he heard that the Demon God Barrier had been breached, he was taken aback, but soon he transformed this shock into motivation for his relentless pursuit. However, this opportunity had been discovered by the demon realm...
“Father! I have good news to share!” Hong Lickqi joyfully entered the Demon Palace, eager to relay the news he had just received. He felt it was important to tell his father right away. At that moment, he had completely shed his previous unfamiliarity; having been saved by S. Rikkichi, he believed that his father truly cared for him.
The Beast King could not shake off the fact that Yu Tian had escaped. He was baffled as to why Yu Tian had vanished just when he was on the verge of capturing him. He knew that both the divine realm and the demon realm possessed time barriers, but he recalled searching many places without finding anything. Moreover, when he stood in front of the Stone House, he did not sense any energy fluctuations from a formation; it certainly wasn't a teleportation array... So what could it be? He found himself questioning this repeatedly, yet no answers came. Upon hearing his son's report, he hesitated for a moment but quickly regained his composure; a hint of vitality returned to his previously withered face.
“What is it?” S. Rikkichi emerged from the inner hall. He asked deliberately, needing more detailed and accurate information. By this time, Hong Lickqi had reached the center of the grand hall and offered a simple bow upon seeing his father. Initially, he felt quite awkward, but soon he adapted.
“Father, the Demon God Barrier has disappeared!” Hong's voice rang clear as he repeated this to his father. As the only son of the Beast King, he enjoyed many privileges, yet this also left him puzzled. According to theories learned from Earth’s civilization, lower civilizations tended to have more wives and concubines. This did not mean he accepted a lowly status; rather, he simply did not understand why his father had only one son. He had tentatively asked Lichki about it before, but his father never provided a clear answer—only that he loved one woman deeply: his mother—and vowed never to marry again. For a magician, breaking an oath was considered worse than death.
“You mean to say the Demon God Barrier has vanished! Is that true?” Lichki still harbored some doubts; it wasn't that he didn't trust his son, but this news was simply too good to be true for him to fully believe it. If this news were indeed true, he could send numerous Beast Soldiers into the divine realm for comprehensive searches. The longer they remained connected to the divine realm, the longer each Beast Soldier would stay there. This would facilitate air circulation and make the atmosphere in the divine realm more compatible with that of the demon realm.
“Yes! I just went to check; aside from a deep trench, there’s no barrier at all!” As he spoke, Hong Lickqi's voice trembled with excitement. This news indicated that implementing his plans would not be overly difficult.
S. Rikkichi felt a surge of excitement as he looked at his son. Hong had once suffered near-fatal blows from Yu Tian and had only survived after sacrificing a high-level magician at great cost. Now witnessing Hong's animated expression and weary features stirred mixed emotions within him.
“That’s wonderful! But what about the reincarnation of the Demon King?” S. Rikkichi recalled the mission imprinted upon him... to resurrect Demon King Lichki. What puzzled him was that they had yet to locate any trace of the Demon King's consciousness; this meant that even if they unsealed energy, it wouldn’t equate to true resurrection.
“Father... I searched everywhere in the demon realm but couldn’t find anything. I wondered if it might be related to Earthlings; however...” Hong Lickqi hesitated to divulge too much about Earth’s civilization to S., viewing them merely as humans who lived using hard special stones (metals). He refrained from mentioning their advanced intelligence and various technologies; instead, he described their so-called barrier-breaking devices as mere modifications of combat machines designed to breach energy shields—something he claimed took him several nights of contemplation to devise.
“Then let’s stop here! I have other methods.” S. Rikkichi remained concerned about his son's well-being; after all, Hong was his only child. In moments of helplessness, thoughts crossed his mind: if only he hadn’t made that vow which led to that divine woman’s demise—he could have had many sons by now. Yet he also felt conflicted; his relationships with half-brothers were always tense. When ascending to the throne, he personally executed one brother and exiled all others without regret—believing it was part of his destiny and mission. Now with only one son left and no rivalries around him, life seemed considerably less troublesome.
The atmosphere was lacking in liveliness, but the Demon Palace had always been shrouded in gloom. What difference would a little excitement make?
"What should we do?" Hong asked, puzzled. He didn't understand why his father hadn't shared everything with him.
"Let the memories seek their master!" S. Rikkichi's booming voice echoed through the Demon Palace as he freed himself from his thoughts.
"What does that mean?" Hong Lickqi was confused; he had no idea what it meant for memories to seek a master.
"It's hard to explain. This time, take more Beast Soldiers and thoroughly search the Divine Realm!" S. Rikkichi urged, a hint of anxiety in his tone. He was still worried that the disappearance of the Demon God Barrier was only temporary.
"Yes, Father!" Hong Lickqi understood his father's concerns and did not linger. He exited the Demon Palace. As he stepped out, he glanced back at his father, who appeared lost in thought, and a wave of sadness washed over him. He could sense the vulnerability within this giant. Mother, you are still so fortunate! But what about my happiness?
Turning away, Hong Lickqi strode towards the gathering place of the Beast Soldiers.
S. Rikkichi fell into contemplation once more. He now had a way to use the Saintess's blood to lift the seal, but that energy and those memories were random; without a guiding consciousness, it would be difficult to find them. Even if he did find them, possessing only fragments of dead memories and energy wouldn’t fulfill his mission. Unless...
"Unless I foster another Demon King..." S. Rikkichi shook his head, seemingly unwilling to admit such thoughts. He glanced at the towering statue of the Demon King behind him and lowered his head in guilt.
Thank you all for your support; I will work even harder...
