Yu Tian once again collapsed from exhaustion. Fortunately, he finally encountered a living person instead of pursuers.
It was unclear how much time had passed when Yu Tian stirred.
As he opened his heavy eyelids, Yu Tian realized that he was facing a shiny metal wall—no, it should be called a ceiling. He was lying on a rather comfortable large bed. That seemed right, he thought.
"Yu Tian, you're awake!" Just as Yu Tian sat up, he heard Dr. S's voice behind him. The old man seemed to have taken some elixir of immortality; he was as spirited as when Yu Tian last saw him. After all, he had been away from the galaxy for hundreds of years, and of course, he was referring to Yu Tian!
Yu Tian propped himself up and turned around to see Dr. S walking in.
At that moment, Yu Tian realized he was lying in the Research Center of Cosmic Headquarters. He recognized the large Azure Hawk emblem on every room; it was an ancient creature, but its significance was immortal, and its spirit was revered. Similar to another creature—the Snow Wolf. "Doctor! How did I end up here?" Yu Tian got out of bed and adjusted his newly replaced combat outfit, which had been entrusted to Dr. S when he triggered it. Having no parents, Yu Tian had always treated Dr. S as his father. He had discovered his origins upon arriving at Kadar Planet, but he knew that Dr. S had always taken good care of him. Moreover, with his biological father already deceased, he felt at ease considering the doctor as his family.
"It was an employee from the spaceship company who happened to be on vacation on Earth and ran into you all; he brought you here." What else could I do? Should I go pick you up myself? "Many things happened at the black hole. I came back through the Time Teleportation Array; otherwise, I might have already perished," Yu Tian said with a sorrowful expression, recalling his parents and the fact that his entire clan had perished. Of course, he had forgotten that the remnants of his father's soul had once told him that the divine race had not been wiped out; his father had deliberately erased that memory to allow Yu Tian to fight without worry. Only by being in the most dangerous situations could he receive the best training and unleash more potential.
"What exactly is the Time Teleportation Array? Also, our researchers discovered that your skeletal structure is nearly perfect. There’s also abundant energy within you; what’s going on?" Dr. S asked, still maintaining his usual irreverent demeanor, teasing Yu Tian even in such a serious moment.
Yu Tian moved slightly and realized his injuries had healed completely. The battle armor that bore witness to his past glory made him feel a sense of familiarity and comfort, like returning home after a long absence. He didn’t know where home was now! Only through constant fighting could he feel fulfilled. Perhaps this was a sign of a war fanatic, but our protagonist was not like that. Having faced setbacks, he could no longer be as lofty as before; instead, he had become somewhat mischievous. A mysterious memory within him was eroding his soul, but thanks to Little Ru's indirect protection, Yu Tian only experienced a change in personality. Speaking of which, I almost forgot about Little Ru. This fellow was the one who activated the Time Teleportation Array; fortunately, it awakened under crisis and activated the formation to rescue Yu Tian, although its own Dragon Soul was still in recovery.
"Thank you! My dear Doctor!" Yu Tian said with a spring-like smile on his face. This tactic worked wonders; even Dr. S felt his heart race a bit.
"Alright, alright, let’s get back to my serious questions!" Strangely enough, Dr. S suddenly seemed afraid of Yu Tian's frivolity—or perhaps he feared that Yu Tian might suddenly transform into a giant and—
Yu Tian walked over to the automatic coffee machine and poured himself a cup of coffee. After taking a sip, he said, "Doctor! Do you know about magic? The Time Teleportation Array is one such form; it’s a time-space tunnel opened by ancient powerful magicians—similar to a small wormhole."
"Magic?" The doctor looked at Yu Tian with confusion. "Isn’t that something from popular novels of the old world?"
"Yes! I originally belonged to Heavenly Kadar—the king from that black hole we just visited," Yu Tian replied, seeming somewhat melancholic again. What kind of king was he? Without any clansmen or subjects, poor protagonist was indeed all alone!
"You’re from the black hole? Are there people there?" Dr. S sat down, displaying an expression of confusion mixed with surprise or skepticism as he stared at Yu Tian, making him feel quite uncomfortable.
"Of course there are!" Yu Tian took another sip of coffee. "They include me and many people from the current Solar System; we are all descendants of humanity from Earth who left for refuge! Although my memories are hazy, I can infer from a book that they were part of an ancient civilization on Earth—strange beings indeed, and so am I! There are thousands of magical beasts there; according to records, their original biological forms were similar to dinosaurs but could control their body shapes at will once they reached a certain level of ability. Right now, I’m in human form; if I were to break my seal, I would transform into a gigantic monster while still resembling a human."
"I'm still a bit confused; it sounds like a story," the doctor said as he scratched the back of his head. This was indeed the reaction of an ordinary person—just like someone standing in front of you claiming they could perform magic and make you disappear; would you believe them? Of course not! However, Dr. S's gesture of scratching his head was peculiar—it was an ancient body language that had persisted for thousands of years!
"I didn't believe it at first, but after encountering some things, I had no choice but to accept it! By the way, Doctor, what year is it now?" Yu Tian truly worried about his companions.
The Doctor sat down, and Yu Tian slumped into his seat.
"It's been two hundred thirty-six years!"
Two hundred thirty-six years—
