In the "Beastman Village" of the Demon Realm, Hong stood up and walked out of the grand hall with his father.
Rikichi S. spread his arms and leaned against the stone railing, saying calmly, "He has awakened!"
Hong turned his head in confusion and asked, "Who is it?"
"Your captain, have you forgotten?"
Hong continued to look at his father. "No, it's just that I didn't expect..."
S. Rikkichi kept staring into the distance. "That's fine. Find an opportunity to test his abilities."
Rikichi S. eventually turned his head and walked toward the back hall.
Hong followed him and replied, "Okay."
Yu Tian restored the original programming of the robots and activated the spaceship.
Time was running short; if he didn't return soon, it might raise suspicions from others.
Yu Tian piloted the spaceship at maximum speed while concealing its magical aura.
As he spotted the Mother Ship, he noticed someone wandering outside the spaceship. At that moment, the spaceship had entered its deceleration phase. Yu Tian enlarged the image on the screen and realized it was Lin. He gently lowered the spaceship into the Backup Cabin, turned off the engines, and walked toward the Command Center.
As soon as he stepped out, Yu Tian saw a worried Lin.
"Captain, where have you been? You just got back!" Seeing her concern for him made him smile. "Worried about me? It's only been a little while!" However, Lin's face did not lighten; she still looked somewhat anxious, making Yu Tian feel that something was off.
As Yu Tian opened his mouth to speak, Lin interjected, "Stop joking around! My brother still hasn't returned!"
Hearing this, Yu Tian was indeed startled. "Aren't I supposed to be keeping an eye on your brother? What if something happens?" His voice carried a hint of reprimand, causing Lin to lower her head in grievance.
"I can't help it! He insisted on going, and I couldn't stop him!" Lin murmured softly, still looking down.
"Alright, alright, it's not all your fault!" Yu Tian patted Lin's head and forced a smile, though his heart felt heavy.
"What exactly is he doing out there?"
Seeing Yu Tian smile, Lin lifted her head and said, "I'm sorry, Captain!"
Yu Tian chuckled lightly. "It's fine. Oh, by the way, I have some questions for you!"
Lin's expression brightened significantly at the mention of questions. She quickly replied, "Captain, go ahead!"
As Yu Tian took Lin's hand, he suggested, "Let's find a safer place to talk."
He held her small hand, and despite the complicated emotions swirling within him, his heart raced. Yu Tian led Lin to the food compartment on the spaceship. After discreetly setting up a barrier, he opened the door and walked in with her. He found a box for Lin to sit on while he settled down beside her. Being alone with Lin in such a confined space made Yu Tian feel somewhat uneasy; he didn't know how to start.
At that moment, Lin spoke first. "Captain, just ask whatever you need to know!"
"Oh... right. I wanted to ask if there's anything unusual about your brother?" Yu Tian rubbed his hands together and adjusted his mood before speaking.
"Not really..." Lin's response lacked certainty.
"Then let me tell you a story!"
Yu Tian recounted many events in the form of a story. Lin rested her head on her hand propped against her knee, listening intently. He summarized everything succinctly and quickly finished. Lin raised her head again and looked at him with curiosity.
"All of this I learned from a stone tablet," Yu Tian thought the explanation was terrible, but Lin didn't ask any further.
"So, Lin, is Hong your biological brother?" Yu Tian rubbed his hands together.
"Yes, I suppose! Captain, why are you asking this?" Lin looked at Yu Tian in confusion.
He smiled and said, "It's nothing, just idle chatter. Is he or isn't he?"
Lin thought for a moment before replying. "I once heard a neighbor say that my brother... he was adopted from an orphanage."
Lin shifted uncomfortably, and upon hearing her words, Yu Tian was taken aback. He hadn't expected that Hong shared a similar background with him. Who exactly were our parents? A sense of sadness washed over Yu Tian.
"Lin, what about your parents now..." Yu Tian adjusted his mood and looked up to see Lin's expression change to one of sorrow. He stopped speaking and quickly added, "Lin, don't be sad for me!"
Lin sniffled and wiped her eyes, saying, "No, it's not that. My parents are both dead."
Yu Tian felt a pang of guilt upon hearing this. He then asked, "How did they...?" He couldn't bring himself to say the taboo word, but Lin would surely understand.
Sure enough, Lin fell silent for a moment before saying, "They were murdered. I remember that day very clearly; I went to a classmate's house for his tenth birthday party. But when I returned home, there were many police ships in front of our house. I knew something had happened. When I rushed inside, I found my brother curled up in the corner, trembling. Mom and Dad... they..."
In the end, Lin couldn't hold back any longer and began to cry loudly.
Yu Tian patted Lin's back and comforted her, "Don't cry; let the past stay in the past! Don't be sad anymore!"
He didn't want Lin to relive her painful memories, but this might be their only chance.
Yu Tian thought of many ways to start the conversation but felt none were appropriate. He could only say whatever came to mind: "So did anyone see who did it?"
His heart raced; he hoped the answer would soon reveal itself.
Lin lifted her head, looking at Yu Tian with tear-stained eyes. He noticed the struggle taking place within her gaze. Finally, a spark of light appeared in Lin's eyes. The sadness began to fade as she spoke, "Yes, but his words shouldn't be trusted."
Yu Tian's heart stirred; he finally saw a glimmer of hope. "Why not?"
Lin continued to wrestle with her thoughts.
"He's an administrator. He said it was my brother who killed our parents!" A look of sorrow returned to Lin's eyes as she recalled the harsh past.
"Was there no investigation?" Yu Tian felt a sense of confusion rising within him, unsure when he would find answers.
"The administrator was sent elsewhere. Without evidence, it was all swept under the rug." Lin's heart felt heavy, and Yu Tian could see that.
"Was there no investigation into your brother?" Lin's head trembled slightly as she raised it, their gazes intertwining.
"No, he was just a child back then." A hint of doubt mingled in Lin's expression.
Suddenly, Yu Tian sensed someone breaking the barrier he had set around the spaceship; it must be Hong Likqi. Yu Tian felt that Hong's abilities had changed significantly, unsure if it was due to newfound strength or some form of concealment.
"Lin, let's end our conversation here for today. We can talk more later." Lin's gaze remained locked with Yu Tian's.
"Captain, what do you mean?"
