After a night of rest, the group set off once again on their journey to Roswaal Mansion. They spent half the time traveling and finally arrived at their destination before noon.
This was a territory located on the border, desolate and only home to a town of modest size, comparable to a rural village on Earth. Only Lai Yueang occasionally gasped in surprise.
The Dragon Car passed through the town without stopping, moving steadily along a quiet road. At the end of this path stood an ancient and towering castle.
"Wow! Wow! What a big house!" Lai Yueang continued to exclaim, not having stopped since entering the town.
This drew disdain from Tang, who thought it was merely a wealthy person building a villa in the countryside—there was no reason to be shocked.
How embarrassing it was for someone from modern times to behave like this!
"Lord Chen Fan... you will be staying here for now. If you need anything, feel free to let me know; I will do my best to assist you!" Emilia said with a slight smile.
"If I need anything, I will!" Chen Fan nodded, his tone filled with indifference.
After all, his purpose had nothing to do with this other world from the very beginning.
All he needed was a place to shelter from the wind and rain!
If it weren't for the two burdens and one reckless individual by his side, Chen Fan would probably have found a more comfortable way to spend these few months.
"Lady Emilia... welcome back!" As they pushed open the grand doors of the castle, they were greeted by a girl who bore an identical appearance to Rem, with one distinct difference—she had shoulder-length pink hair.
After speaking with Emilia, she turned to Rem and smiled, saying, "Rem too, you've worked hard on the journey!"
"These must be the guests that Lady Emilia mentioned!"
"Due to some recent anomalies in the Beast Forest, my master has gone to investigate the cause and is expected to return tomorrow. He is already aware of your presence and has asked me to welcome you on his behalf!"
With that, she glanced over Chen Fan and the others before adding, "By the way, I am the maid of this mansion and also Rem's sister. You can call me Ram!"
"If possible, could you arrange our accommodations?" Chen Fan nodded lightly, his gaze shifting away from Ram. Another non-human being; as for her true nature, he couldn't determine it, only sensing her unusual aura.
The castle was vast but sparsely populated. Aside from Chen Fan and his companions, the only other occupant was Roswaal, the Border Count, who had yet to return.
Thus, there were plenty of vacant rooms available.
What surprised Chen Fan was that Ram seemed to have known about their arrival well in advance, even preparing the rooms ahead of time.
After Ram led them to their assigned rooms and gave a few instructions to the others, Chen Fan disregarded them and returned to his room alone to strengthen his connection with the Thunder Book.
Last night, he had already sensed 007 within the Thunder Book. With a bit more enhancement of their connection, he estimated he could initiate cross-dimensional communication.
Time flowed differently between worlds; he might spend months here while several years passed on Earth. Such a scenario would be mild compared to what could happen.
He certainly didn't want to return to Earth only to find that all his familiar faces had turned to dust.
...
In one of the rooms of the castle, or perhaps in a separate space, countless books filled the area—ranging from ordinary historical records to mysterious magical knowledge.
At the center of the room, near the entrance, a girl with golden curly hair was flipping through a book resting on her knees. It had a black cover and exuded an air of mystery.
"Why is there no record in the Gospel?"
"Clearly, it was one person, yet four have come... Could there be an issue with the records?"
In her eyes, there was confusion, but also a hint of solitude. Four hundred years had passed, and she had finally waited for the information in the Gospel to begin changing. However, the information displayed in the book was completely different from reality.
This Gospel, left to her by her mother, was also a book of fate, recording information about those related to her destiny. According to what her mother had left behind, as long as she found that person, she could free herself from the long passage of time.
But... the information in the book was wrong from the very beginning...
"I wonder what Roswaal's Gospel shows?"
A faint sigh, carrying an indescribable flavor, echoed in the vast and dense library—
...
In the kitchen, twin sisters were cooking and discussing a few unexpected guests.
However, their conversation was only audible to them; this was a special ability of the twin sisters, a telepathic connection that allowed them to share thoughts over a certain distance.
This had nothing to do with magic; it was purely their unique gift as sisters.
"Rem... have you investigated their intentions?" Ram's voice resonated in Rem's mind.
"I haven't discovered much, but one of them requires attention—it's that child. According to Lord Park's law, this person is comparable to Sword Saint Reinhardt."
Rem reported the intelligence she had gathered while also warning her sister Ram that among these unexpected visitors, there existed a very dangerous individual.
After a brief exchange, both sides had already merged their recent information.
...
With more than an hour until lunchtime, the three modern individuals arrived at the castle's garden.
Accompanying them were Emilia and the Spirit Cat, Peter Parker.
"Lord Park, please test my magical affinity!" Lai Yueang said confidently. As a rare traveler who had gained extraordinary abilities upon crossing over, he believed he was comparable to certain protagonists from stories.
It was important to note that Chen Fan had abilities even before his journey, while the Tang siblings were ordinary people; their uniqueness stemmed from the powers granted by Chen Fan.
"Alright, just call me Peter Parker!" the Spirit Cat replied with a smile, extending a paw to rest on Lai Yueang's forehead and squinting. "Oh! You actually have a shadow affinity! That's quite rare!"
"Is it really impressive?" Lai Yueang asked, noticing Peter Parker's surprise and looking at him with excitement.
Rare... in other words, precious. Things are valuable because they are scarce; that much was clear.
"It's pretty useless!" Peter Parker rolled his eyes, realizing that aside from Chen Fan, the others were completely ordinary.
"Haha!" Tang chuckled happily, leaning in for Peter Parker to examine him. His inner unease was evident to anyone watching.
After all, this was magic! Tang sighed inwardly.
"Hmm? You do have potential for learning magic!" After examining him, Peter Parker showed a thoughtful expression. Moments later, under Tang's anxious gaze, he said, "You originally lacked any magical affinity, but the mark on your head carries an elemental property!"
"If it weren't for this mark altering your constitution, you wouldn't be able to learn magic with your non-affinity body!"
This revelation surprised Peter Parker, but considering that the one who bestowed the mark was Chen Fan, his curiosity faded.
"You are the same; it's because of the mark on your forehead that you can learn magic!" This was Peter Parker's conclusion after examining Tang Xin'er.
"That's not fair! Why can you two learn magic even though you don't have magical aptitude?" Lai Yueang's lips twitched. He felt a mix of bitterness and jealousy. Did the luck of the wealthy still prevail over ordinary people in this other world?
"There's nothing unfair about it. They do have the aptitude to learn magic, but unfortunately..." Peter Parker chuckled lightly, his tone causing unease in the siblings. He continued with a smile, "Unfortunately, in this world, there is no magic they can learn!"
"The magical elements consist of four basic attributes: earth, wind, water, and fire, plus yin and yang, making a total of six. However, the mark on your foreheads represents a new element beyond these six, which means there is no corresponding magic available!"
Despite this outcome, the siblings did not show any disappointment. After all, who lacked corresponding magic?
There was clearly a humanoid walking spellbook available!
They could swallow their pride and seek out Chen Fan; what magic couldn't they learn?
Lai Yueang smiled, casting a sympathetic glance at the siblings, but was met with disdainful looks and mocking smiles in return.
He couldn't understand why these two showed no signs of disappointment in the face of such disheartening news.
"Don't worry about it; even if you can't learn magic, you can still acquire other skills!" Emilia thought Peter Parker's tone was a bit harsh and smiled apologetically.
