In Queens, New York, the largest of the five boroughs on the eastern side, thunder rumbled ominously as dark clouds, thick as ink, obscured the sky. Under the thunderous sound, countless souls wore expressions of bewilderment.
"Is this the end of the world?" This absurd thought arose in the minds of many.
The thunderclouds appeared suddenly and vanished just as quickly, briefly asserting their presence in the sky before disappearing without a trace. If millions had not witnessed it firsthand, no one would believe what had just transpired.
The person responsible for all this stood there, equally perplexed, gazing at the dissipating thunderclouds above.
"This cheat is too powerful. It seems I'm not even a son of heaven, nor do I have a pig horn template. How did I end up with this ability?" Chen Fan, who stood barely a meter tall, looked up and muttered to himself.
Chen Fan was not from this universe; to this world, he was an undocumented resident. His arrival here was purely accidental.
—Transmigration
In short, Chen Fan had accidentally crossed over into this world and was then forcefully given a cheat package by an extremely irresponsible transmigration company. The apocalyptic scene that had just unfolded was a result of Chen Fan activating his newfound powers from that package.
Godslayer Cheat Package, Exclusive Ability—Thunder!
As Chen Fan stood there in confusion and uncertainty, several satellites hovered above him, observing his every move.
…
In America, at the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D., within a building marked by the trident emblem, Director Nick Fury sat in his exclusive office. Dressed in his ever-present black coat despite the sweltering thirty-degree heat outside, he remained as steady as a rock. Well, one could only say that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s air conditioning was excellent!
"Director, we've found the source of the anomaly in Queens!" Agent Coulson said with an odd expression. If he hadn't confirmed it countless times, he wouldn't believe that the cause of such an apocalyptic scene was merely a boy barely ten years old.
"Is it a mutant, a superhero, or an alien?" Nick Fury's lips twitched slightly. This group that spent all day either causing trouble or plotting world destruction truly gave him headaches.
"None of those." Coulson's eyelids twitched; even he found it hard to believe: "As unbelievable as it sounds, the cause of the anomaly in Queens is just a ten-year-old boy."
What can a ten-year-old do? He remembered playing in the mud at that age...
Today's kids are terrifying; they can stir up earth-shattering events at any moment!
"Coulson, are you joking with me? Seriously, this joke is a bit cold!" Director Nick Fury tapped on his desk, his single eye fixed intently on Coulson. After a moment of shock, he asked incredulously: "Is it true?"
His tone of skepticism and uncertainty was interrupted by Coulson's voice: "Director, it's true!"
“Target Individual, Chen Fan, age ten, an American of Chinese descent. His father died in a car accident five years ago, and he currently lives with his mother. Until just before ten fifty-five today, he showed no signs of abnormality. However, just now, this Little Mister triggered a world-shaking event, fortunately without causing any damage. Initial speculation suggests that his ability is related to lightning.”
Nick Fury drummed his fingers on the table before retracting his hand and rubbing his forehead. “I think we need a nanny, a qualified tutor, and a building that can withstand electricity. We can arrange the rest after we bring back the Little Mister you mentioned!”
If the anomaly had been caused by an adult, Nick Fury would likely have outlined an observation period to determine whether to absorb them into S.H.I.E.L.D. or throw them in prison based on their behavior during that time.
But since the target was a ten-year-old boy, that approach was no longer applicable. He couldn't guarantee that during the observation period, Target Individual wouldn’t recklessly use his powers due to certain circumstances. The Thundercloud capable of covering an entire city could have unimaginable consequences, even without offensive capabilities.
“Well, Director, I think our Little Mister really does need those things!” Coulson said with a wry smile. The current Brat was truly terrifying, especially one with special abilities.
……
Having received a gift package from the traverser, Chen Fan regained his senses after using his powers. Although he possessed extraordinary strength, Chen Fan had no intention of using it.
As the son of a founder of a Fortune 500 company, he felt that he could live without doing anything for the rest of his life; the wealth was enough for him to enjoy for several lifetimes. Though hard to admit, Chen Fan’s goal was simply to live off others and wait for death.
Having been in this world for a month, Chen Fan finally adapted to his current life. Aside from the daily school routine and playing with the Brat, which troubled him, the life of a rich second generation certainly satisfied this former overworked office worker. Overall, he was quite content with this unexpected journey.
However, when he turned on the television, a news report caught his attention.
The protagonist on screen wore a red and blue costume with a small spider perched on a Spider Web emblazoned on his chest. He waved his hands as white webs shot between skyscrapers while swiftly darting through the steel jungle, disappearing into the shadows of the buildings in an instant.
The reporter excitedly recounted tales of the hero's exploits.
With a look of realization on his face, Chen Fan finally understood why he had received the Godslayer gift package. As a traverser, if he were to die immediately upon arrival, it would reflect poorly on the traverser company. Thus, they had given him a physique capable of self-preservation.
The Godslayer physique ensured that as long as he didn’t act recklessly, most accidents wouldn’t be fatal; at least he could survive through many episodes.
“I knew it! I’m not some divine being or protagonist; why would I receive such an extraordinary ability? Turns out it was all waiting for me here!” Chen Fan glanced around nervously; sitting here felt unsafe. Was there going to be a car falling from the sky?
Or perhaps some terrorists would suddenly appear for a kidnapping…
Or maybe…
Ding-dong—
The doorbell rang suddenly, startling Chen Fan. Did he have some kind of jinx?
Miss Silphy, the maid and part-time nanny, set down the vacuum cleaner and turned off the power before heading to the door. She looked outside through the monitor screen at the unexpected visitors—three men in black, each one suspicious, causing her hand to hesitate on the doorknob.
"We are from the Department of Homeland Strategic Defense, Offense, and Logistics. I am Tefer Coulson, and we have important matters to discuss with Mr. Chen Fan and his guardian, Ms. Katie Raphael," Coulson said, looking at the hesitant Maid Miss through the screen.
"Um... um... that Homeland? Defense? Logistics department has a name that's too long to remember. What questions do you have for Ms. Raphael and Little Mister Chen Fan?" Maid Miss stammered, struggling with the lengthy title—not because of her memory, but simply due to its length.
"Because the matters we need to inquire about involve global security, only Ms. Raphael and Mr. Chen Fan have the right to know!" Coulson replied calmly.
"Uh, then please call Ms. Raphael. Otherwise, I won't open the door! Absolutely not! You are too suspicious!" Maid Miss exclaimed, feeling both anxious and agitated; the three men outside seemed far too dubious, and that long-winded department name sounded fabricated.
In the living room, Chen Fan frowned slightly. He could hear every word exchanged inside and outside; that convoluted name was just S.H.I.E.L.D., wasn't it? Had his earlier activation of the big gift pack been exposed?
After a moment of thought, Chen Fan concluded that this was likely the only reason they would come knocking.
"Silphy, open the door. They are from a national special department; let them in," Chen Fan said lazily from his position on the couch. Since they had come to him, there was no point in hiding; he might as well see what these individuals wanted.
"Young Master... are you sure? What if they are terrorists?" Silphy's beautiful face flashed with fear. As a charming and lovely girl, she worried about what might happen if those who entered were indeed terrorists.
Chen Fan rubbed his forehead; Silphy was great in many ways but had a tendency to be a bit naive and paranoid. In this world, only he and his mother could dispel her fears since her life had been saved by Chen Fan's mother, Rafael.
"How about this: wait for my mother to return before letting them in. For now, go make some coffee to serve our guests later." Seeing Maid Miss's frightened expression, Chen Fan decided against opening the door right away. Compared to a group of agents with ulterior motives, he preferred Silphy's adorably naive demeanor. After all, she was a youthful beauty—just with a few personality quirks.
