Holding the camouflage uniform, Zhao Jun handed it to Tang Hao'er, who was squatting by the campfire adding firewood, before turning and walking over to where Cheng Zhengxiong was lying down.
Cheng Zhengxiong looked at Zhao Jun with a smile and asked, "Did you wake up?"
Seeing Cheng Zhengxiong's meaningful smile, Zhao Jun awkwardly cleared his throat and sat down beside him, asking, "Do you feel any better?"
Cheng Zhengxiong replied with a grin, "Much better. I still have a bit of a fever, but it's nothing serious—just hungry."
Zhao Jun glanced at Su Mei, who said, "I checked his temperature earlier; it's already come down a bit."
Zhao Jun nodded and said, "By tomorrow morning, you should be fine. I'll help you change your medicine, and later I'll go out with Li Wei to find something to eat."
Cheng Zhengxiong smiled and said, "I feel like I'm not in too bad shape. How about we all go out together later?"
Zhao Jun reached out to loosen the bandage on Cheng Zhengxiong's shoulder and chuckled, "You should rest a little longer. We might have to engage in a prolonged battle with those guys this time. You need to be in good shape for that."
Cheng Zhengxiong laughed and replied, "Alright, I'll listen to you. But when the time comes, I want to personally avenge this injury. I just hope those bastards don't run away too soon."
Zhao Jun smiled slightly; it seemed Cheng Zhengxiong was still a fighter at heart, which was a good thing. It looked like they couldn't rely on Li Wei alone to rescue Yang Bing and the others.
After tending to Cheng Zhengxiong's wounds and rebandaging them, when Cheng Zhengxiong tried to sit up, Zhao Jun helped him get up and walked him over to sit by the campfire.
Lying down all the time wasn't good for his health; he needed some proper movement.
Li Wei came from the cave entrance and winked at Zhao Jun, saying, "Awake now? You really are quite fortunate..."
Li Wei chuckled as he glanced at Tang Hao'er, who was washing clothes not far away with Zhao Jun.
There was no need to hide this matter, but Zhao Jun didn't want to discuss it further with Li Wei. He smiled and asked, "Have we accounted for all our belongings?"
"This is nothing to worry about; just look over there, everything is neatly arranged," Li Wei replied, pointing to a spot near the cave wall.
In truth, Zhao Jun had already seen the items placed against the cave wall; he just hadn't had the time to examine them closely.
Zhao Jun stood up and smiled, saying, "These are all we have now; let's see if there's anything useful."
Li Wei followed behind Zhao Jun, scoffing, "A pile of junk. If we were at home..."
Li Wei couldn't keep his mouth shut, but everyone knew what he was thinking. Zhao Jun gently shook his head. If we were at home, I fear I would have already reached the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by now.
Zhao Jun squatted down to inspect their belongings, and Cheng Zhengxiong came over to squat beside him, casually rummaging through the items. He looked at Zhao Jun and asked, "Zhao Jun, what are your plans now?"
Zhao Jun sighed and said, "Right now, we can only take it one step at a time. With our current strength, we can't confront those bandits head-on. We can only ensure our safety while slowly wearing them down."
Li Wei interjected, "You mean like kiting BSS?"
Kiting BSS was a term from the game; players considered BSS relatively weak, especially in the early stages. This required players to lure BSS to a specific location where they could be trapped, allowing players to minimize damage or avoid it entirely. Once BSS was properly kited, players could adopt a spirit of perseverance and slowly wear it down.
Zhao Jun glanced at Li Wei and shook his head with a wry smile. "It's somewhat similar to kiting BSS. The situation on the island is currently favorable for us; we are in the dark while the enemy is in the light. We can look for opportunities to ambush them. We don't need significant results; just hit and run. This way, we can continuously deplete their forces."
Li Wei chuckled, "This is good. We hit them and then run, taking advantage without any loss. By the way, when you sneak up on those guys, make sure to call me. Let's go tonight, wait for the right moment to take a few shots at them, and then we can head back. The forest is so big; they won't be able to catch us."
Zhao Jun patted Li Wei on the shoulder and turned to Cheng Zhengxiong, saying, "The first time we ambush the enemy might succeed, but once they are on guard, it will be much harder to catch them off guard again. Plus, we don't know if those bandits have night vision equipment; ambushing them carries significant risks. Honestly, I'm more worried about Brother Yang and the others trapped inside. If we provoke those bandits too much, I fear they might retaliate against Brother Yang and his group."
Cheng Zhengxiong frowned and nodded, "Your concerns are valid. However, even if we don't ambush them, they won't spare the people trapped inside either."
Zhao Jun sighed lightly with worry, "We need to find a way to get Brother Yang and the others out as soon as possible."
Hearing Zhao Jun's concern about the bandits having night vision gear made Li Wei feel uneasy. When he heard Zhao Jun mention rescuing Yang Bing and the others, he couldn't help but grin nervously and mutter, "How do we rescue them? There are so many of them."
Zhao Jun exhaled deeply, "I have no idea either. It would be great if we could force them out of the Bandit Nest."
"Force them out?" Cheng Zhengxiong shook his head with a bitter smile. How could they possibly drive them out of the Bandit Nest?
Li Wei scratched his head and whispered to Zhao Jun, "Aren't there still a boat anchored in the bay? Can we sneak out with it under the cover of darkness? With a whole night ahead of us, we should be able to get far away. As long as we can escape, we can call for help. When the military arrives, will those bandits dare not surrender?"
Zhao Jun looked at Li Wei and replied, "That boat looks like an ordinary fishing vessel. How fast can a fishing boat go? Can it outrun a helicopter? And can you be sure there aren't any bandits guarding that boat? Do you think we could just take it without any issues? Once gunfire erupts, the bandits in the Bandit Nest could reach that boat in minutes. Where would we run then? Even if we manage to steal that boat without being detected by the bandits, do you know how much fuel it has? Is it enough for us to reach a populated area? We're in the middle of the Pacific Ocean; crossing it in a fishing boat would take at least several hours. How will we manage food for that long? What about fresh water? Not to mention that this season is right in the middle of typhoon season—what if we encounter a storm at sea? Have you thought about all this?"
Li Wei was left speechless by Zhao Jun's questions and took a while to respond. He sheepishly scratched his head and said, "I was just saying that offhand."
Cheng Zhengxiong nodded in agreement from the side, "I think Zhao Jun makes valid points. We need to consider this matter carefully. However, if it turns out like Li Wei suggested and we can call for support, that would be the best outcome."
