"Shen Kun" was stopped by "Yang Bing." He paused for a moment, quickly glanced at "Charlie" beside him, then turned to "Yang Bing" with a smile and asked, "Is there something you need, Mr. Yang?"
"Yang Bing" stood in front of "Shen Kun" and "Charlie," looking at the two of them. "Mr. Charlie, Mr. Shen Kun, I just received a call from my family on the way here. There are some matters at home that I need to attend to. I didn’t want to delay everyone’s schedule, so I didn’t mention it earlier. Now that we’ve arrived at our destination, I wanted to let you know that when your helicopter returns, I would like to join you on the flight back. I apologize for the inconvenience."
Upon hearing "Yang Bing's" words, the crowd began to murmur.
"Shen Kun" instinctively looked at "Charlie," his face filled with confusion.
"Charlie" stared at "Yang Bing" for a moment before suddenly chuckling and saying, "Mr. Yang, are you saying that you plan to withdraw from this event?"
"Yang Bing" smiled slightly and replied, "I have no choice; there are indeed some matters at home that require my personal attention. Is it a problem for you two if I withdraw from the event?"
"Charlie" smiled and said, "Of course not. This event is voluntary for everyone; withdrawing is the same."
"Shen Kun," looking displeased, added, "Mr. Yang, if you withdraw now, we won’t be able to refund the 180,000 yuan you paid in advance."
"Yang Bing" smiled and said, "Money is something you can't take with you when you die; I came out here just to relax. I've enjoyed this trip and met so many friends; I'm already very happy."
"Shen Kun" was left speechless and turned back to "Charlie."
"Charlie," grinning at "Yang Bing," said, "Since Mr. Yang has family matters to attend to, we won't insist. However, the plane won't be returning just yet; the staff needs to refuel and maintain it. How about this: Mr. Yang can rest for a while, and once the plane is ready, we'll send someone to take you back."
"I see," "Yang Bing" paused for a moment and smiled, "That works for me; I'll rest for now."
Feeling relieved, "Shen Kun" smiled at "Yang Bing," saying, "Mr. Yang and everyone else, please follow me. The conditions on our island are a bit rudimentary; we may have to squeeze a few people into one room..."
"Yang Bing" chuckled lightly and said he would go get his luggage before turning back to the nervous trio of "Tang Hao'er," whispering, "Something feels off; we should try not to separate too much; it's better for us to discuss things together."
Zhao Jun, Li Wei, and Tang Hao'er all murmured in agreement. From the earlier conversation between Charlie and Shen Kun regarding Yang Bing, they had sensed something unusual. However, Charlie's response seemed reasonable and beyond reproach.
The thirty-two individuals followed Shen Kun to a row of low, simple buildings resembling school dormitories. Upon seeing the shabby accommodations, Ye Tong couldn't help but curse at Shen Kun, "What the hell is this, Shen? You seriously expect us to stay in a pigsty like this? We each paid eighteen thousand; did you think we came here to be mistreated?"
Shen Kun smiled apologetically. "Young Master Ye, the conditions on the island are limited. It's impossible to build accommodations of a star-rated hotel standard. To be honest, these buildings were constructed by the Japanese during World War II as military barracks. Although they are somewhat rudimentary, they are sturdier than most fortifications. Our company has made some repairs, and they are quite comfortable for living. Besides, the theme of our activity is wilderness survival. If you wanted to stay in a star-rated hotel, why did you join our group?"
Ye Tong grabbed Shen Kun by the collar, glaring at him as he scolded, "What the hell do you mean by that? Have you forgotten the promises you made when you recommended this activity to me?"
A flash of anger crossed Shen Kun's eyes as he seized Ye Tong's wrist. He had tolerated Ye Tong for long enough and couldn't understand why Charlie was still being polite to these people now that they were on the island.
At that moment, Cheng Zhengxiong, who was walking beside Shen Kun, stopped and stared at Ye Tong. "Brother Ye, Manager Cheng is right; this is a wilderness survival group. Don't set your expectations too high. Let's not make a scene; everyone is tired and needs to rest. If you don't want to participate in this activity, you can always wait for Mr. Yang and take a flight back together."
Ye Tong knew very well who Cheng Zhengxiong's father was and dared not confront him directly.
With a huff, Ye Tong shoved Shen Kun aside and grumbled, "Hurry up and arrange rooms for us, and bring me two bottles of Lafite."
Shen Kun stepped back two paces, smirking slightly before turning to address everyone in front of the row of buildings. "Due to limited conditions on the island, this row of houses has been reserved for you. Mr. Cheng Zhengxiong and Sister Yebei, please stay in Room One. Sister Tang Hao'er will be in Room Two. Mr. Yang Bing will have Room Three, while the rest will share rooms with four people per room; feel free to pair up as you wish."
As soon as Shen Kun finished speaking, Ye Tong shouted out loud: "What the hell does that mean? I have no issue with Mr. Cheng and Sister Yebei staying in Room One or Sister Tang in Room Two, but why does that guy Yang get his own room while the rest of us have to cram into one? What do you take us for?"
Yang Bing was also surprised that Shen Kun had arranged for him to have a room alone; he frowned and stared at Shen Kun.
Shen Kun looked at Ye Tong with a smile. "Young Master Ye, do you really think Mr. Yang is just anyone who would share a room with you?"
Everyone could hear the mockery in Shen Kun's tone; yet Ye Tong seemed oblivious to it as he glared back at Shen Kun and shouted, "What kind of person is he? Isn’t he just a retired soldier? My dad is Ye Zhou!"
The feeling of being watched was uncomfortable. Yang Bing steeled himself and stepped forward, addressing Shen Kun, "Shen Kun, it doesn't matter who I am. I'm going to leave soon, so there's no need for you to arrange a separate room for me. How about this: I get along well with Teacher Zhao and Brother Li Wei. Let's just share a room together."
Tang Hao'er suddenly wrapped her arm around Zhao Jun's and said to Shen Kun, "Zhao Jun is my boyfriend, so we can share a room."
At that moment, Tang Hao'er needed a strong reason to be with Yang Bing, Zhao Jun, and Li Wei. However, she didn't expect that her words would cause the group of second-generation elites to collapse in shock, their hearts shattering into pieces.
Cheng Kun chuckled at Tang Hao'er and Zhao Jun, waving his hand. "Sister Tang, feel free. I won't help distribute the remaining rooms; you can pair up as you like."
Yang Bing exchanged glances with Zhao Jun and the others before picking up his luggage and heading toward Room Three. As they reached the door, Yang Bing suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to Shen Kun. "Shen Kun, why does the design of this door make me feel like I'm in prison?"
The row of rooms had originally been built as barracks by the RB Invaders. The blue stone structure was relatively intact, but the original wooden doors had long rotted away and were replaced with iron doors. Stepping inside truly felt like being imprisoned; if someone locked the door from the outside, it would indeed become a prison.
Shen Kun raised an eyebrow and smiled cheerfully. "Mr. Yang, don't be suspicious. The wind on the island is strong; it's safer with iron doors."
Yang Bing smiled slightly and turned to exchange glances with Zhao Jun and the others.
Zhao Jun set down his suitcase and reached out to touch the door, startled.
The door was made of thick iron plates welded together. If someone locked it from the outside and there were no tools on hand, it would be nearly impossible to open it from the inside using sheer strength.
These people were indeed up to no good!
