Chapter 5: The Wings of Samoyan 0

Black Eyes was indeed not dead. Its two front spider legs had reached out of the hole, but its entire body was stripped of skin from the explosion, revealing blood-red muscle beneath. Although its legs could stretch toward the hole's edge, it could not crawl out, as other legs had been blown off. The legs reaching for the edge trembled. 0

The trembling was not from fear; it was born of rage. Black Eyes roared like a creature from hell, "If I die, none of you will live!" 0

With a surge from its abdomen, Black Eyes' fangs bulged like two large buns, and with a sudden movement, it shot a massive web into the air. This web formed in midair, an enormous structure that completely covered the sky above Purgatory Palace. 0

Ji Zichen was the first to rise among the fallen subordinates of Purgatory Palace. Upon seeing the massive web hovering above, Kiko suddenly recalled Old Eight's earlier warning: "Don't get angry; if you unleash that technique, it might destroy the square." 0

At this thought, Kiko felt a jolt of fear. "Is that what he meant?" 0

Regardless of whether it was or not, Kiko had to prepare. Suddenly, he shouted, "Xia Zhou! Come here!" 0

Xia Zhou moved swiftly, racing toward Kiko with unprecedented speed. 0

Black Eyes let out a chilling howl. "Everyone here must die!" 0

The web that enveloped Purgatory Palace suddenly descended, covering the towering Penance Tower and all the buildings below. It was descending toward the ground. 0

Ji Zichen immediately conjured a Wind Barrier to protect both himself and Xia Zhou. In an instant, everything within the range of Purgatory Palace was covered by the web. If someone were to look down from above, they would feel as though this place had been abandoned for centuries due to the thick layer of webbing. 0

The Wind Barrier around Ji Zichen was also filled with spider silk. A strange hissing sound echoed as cracks began to form in the barrier; these cracks originated from the top of Penance Tower. The tower swayed precariously as its upper half split apart. 0

As the top of the tower broke off, it began to wobble dangerously. Inside the tower, Samoyan could no longer remain at the window; shedding its mask and wings, it soared into the air. 0

Once Samoyan reached midair, everything in Purgatory Palace shook violently. The tower leaned more and more due to the relentless pressure from the web. Ji Zichen's Wind Barrier was also being pushed down under the weight of the web. 0

With a loud crash, Penance Tower split in two, sending dust and debris flying everywhere. The buildings in the square crumbled and shattered. The Wind Barrier, originally tall enough for a person to stand in comfortably, was now compressed to less than half that height due to the pressure from the web. Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou could only crouch within it. 0

Kiko exclaimed in alarm, "This is bad! The Wind Barrier can't hold much longer!" 0

Xia Zhou replied resolutely, "Don't worry; my final strike is coming!" 0

Xia Zhou had previously launched the Eight Desolation Needles high into the air, and now they were condensing and falling from the sky. The descending Eight Desolation Needles had transformed into arms thick as tree trunks, piercing through the clouds and plummeting straight towards the deep pit where Black Eyes was located. The Eight Desolation Needles brushed past the soaring Samoyan, creating a thunderous roar that echoed through the air. 0

Though Samoyan was flying high, he too was caught off guard by the explosive force that sent him crashing to the ground, rolling as he landed. Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou were not spared either; the Spider Web on Ji Zichen's Wind Barrier was blown apart by the shockwave, and the Wind Barrier itself was compressed by an even greater force, becoming increasingly uneven. 0

In an instant, the Wind Barrier shattered with a loud crash, sending Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou tumbling across the ground. The air was filled with a howling wave of energy, reminiscent of wailing ghosts. 0

At the bottom of the cliff, Sister Nine and Yu Ren watched as Yangquan Cliff trembled dangerously, rocks tumbling down as people covered their heads and fled. Once they reached safety, Dong Qin looked back at Yangquan Cliff with a face full of despair. However, the towering Penance Tower that had once loomed there had vanished. Dong Qin exclaimed in shock, "The Penance Tower is gone!" 0

Sister Nine's heart raced as she struggled to calm down. "Incredible! Who are those two? They managed to kill three Mo Masters!" 0

Dong Qin, both surprised and delighted, asked, "How do you know those three Mo Masters are dead?" 0

Sister Nine's expression relaxed slightly, as if she had found some relief. "If the Mo Masters were alive, they wouldn't have allowed anyone to destroy Purgatory Palace." 0

Dong Qin thought about it and found her reasoning sound. With joy lighting up her face, she said, "That's great! This means that those from Purgatory Palace can't cause trouble here anymore!" 0

Big Qi lay on the ground, having just emerged from the dungeon. Taking in a few breaths of fresh air, his mind began to clear. He mumbled groggily, "Thirsty... so thirsty... water..." 0

Hearing her father speak, she jolted with excitement and shouted, "Village Chief! Look! My dad is awake!" 0

The village chief saw Big Qi slowly opening his eyes and suddenly choked up with emotion. "It's good that he's awake! Quickly, get some water!" 0

"Okay! I'll go right now!" she replied happily. 0

Amidst the excitement, Dong Qin couldn't help but worry about Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou's safety. "With such severe destruction above and such loud noises, I wonder how they are doing." 0

Lin Chuyu breathed heavily, deeply concerned for Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou. Suddenly, she dashed towards the forest path. Dong Qin shouted after her, "Where are you going?" 0

Sister Nine said firmly, "She's going up. We'll take care of Big Qi; I'm going to check on them." 0

Sister Nine followed closely behind Lin Chuyu. 0

As the dust settled, Ji Zichen lay on the ground, half-conscious, with Xia Zhou not far from him. Both of them were thickly covered in dirt, their faces grimy. 0

Ji Zichen blinked his eyelashes, shaking off a layer of dust from his brow. His sharp eyes opened wide, and as he sat there feeling dizzy, he noticed Xia Zhou lying next to him. He quickly got up and called out to Xia Zhou, who let out a soft grunt and slowly opened his eyes. 0

Xia Zhou inhaled some dust and sneezed, followed by a few coughs. "We..." 0

Seeing Xia Zhou respond, Ji Zichen let out a deep sigh of relief and plopped back down on the ground. "We're fine." 0

Samoyan stood with his back to Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou, gazing into the deep pit where Old Eight and Black Eyes lay. "Old Eight, Black Eyes..." 0

Hearing Ji Zichen's words, Samoyan suddenly turned around, a cold smile creeping onto his face as he said to Ji Zichen, "Are you really okay?" 0

Samoyan's sudden remark made Ji Zichen shiver despite having just relaxed. Xia Zhou reacted similarly, both of them rising to their feet and staring coldly at Samoyan. 0

Samoyan's gaunt face appeared terrifying. "You two have some skills; you managed to kill Old Eight and Black Eyes and even destroy Penance Tower." 0

Xia Zhou glanced at Ji Zichen. "Who is this person?" 0

Ji Zichen shook his head. "I don't know. I saw him standing by the window of Penance Tower earlier." 0

Xia Zhou replied, "Ah, it's that guy. I saw him earlier too." 0

Ji Zichen asked in a deep voice, "Who are you?" 0

Samoyan smiled chillingly. "Well then, I am Samoyan from Purgatory Palace!" 0

Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou both froze in surprise. "You are Samoyan!" 0

"Do you know me?" Samoyan asked in surprise. 0

Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou exchanged glances; this was indeed Samoyan. They had only heard of him in stories, so they did not actually know him. 0

Ji Zichen frowned slightly. "We don't know you. I've just heard about your deeds." 0

Samoyan chuckled. "You must have heard from the villagers of Shangyu Village." 0

It didn't matter who they had heard it from, and Ji Zichen didn't respond directly. Instead, he asked, "Why are you just watching?" 0

With a sigh, Samoyan replied, "I underestimated you. I never thought Old Eight and Black Eyes would fall at your hands. You are indeed a bit tricky, but I'm different. I'm not as pathetic as they are." 0

With a flap of his wings, a cloud of poisonous mist shot toward them. Ji Zichen and Xia Zhou quickly got up to dodge it. As they evaded the toxic fog, Ji Zichen asked, "Do you remember how Tang Dagang died?" 0

"I remember; he died from poisoning," Xia Zhou answered. 0

Samoyan smiled at this. "I didn't expect you to know that. It seems the people of Shangyu Village still vividly remember Tang Dagang's death, but I am not just someone who can use poison." 0

With another flap of his wings, Samoyan increased his mobility. Just as Ji Zichen noticed this movement, he felt a sharp pain on his right cheek. Samoyan's fist struck him hard, sending Ji Zichen flying three yards. 0

Ji Zichen crashed to the ground and lay there for a moment without getting up. Samoyan sneered, "Don't pretend to be dead over there; my punch won't take your life." 0

Ji Zichen wasn't pretending; that punch had been incredibly fierce, and he saw stars in his vision. 0

Xia Zhou dared not move, staring intently at Samoyan. He called out to Ji Zichen, "Are you okay?" 0

After a brief pause to catch his breath, Ji Zichen replied, "I'm... fine..." 0

Xia Zhou frowned and said, "You idiot!" 0

Xia Zhou leaped backward, throwing a needle at Samoyan with a shout, "I'll blow you up!" 0

Samoyan sneered, "A mere trick." 0

With a flap of his wings, Samoyan sent Xia Zhou's Eight Desolation Needles flying several yards away, where they exploded in a sudden burst. 0

The debris from the explosion sent shards of the Eight Desolation Needles flying back, and Xia Zhou could hardly believe it. "You deflected my Eight Desolation Needles!" 0

Watching the smoke rise from the explosion, Samoyan laughed arrogantly. "Your needles may be powerful, but they are no different from an ordinary needle to me. You can't make them explode in front of me." 0

Xia Zhou stared at the wings behind Samoyan and thought, "Those wings not only allow him to fly but can also sweep away anything that comes near him." Holding the needle tightly, Xia Zhou hesitated to throw it. If Samoyan were to deflect it back toward Ji Zichen, it would be disastrous. 0

Seeing Xia Zhou's hesitation, Samoyan chuckled as if he could read his thoughts. "What's wrong? Afraid to shoot at me? Are you worried I might bounce the needle back and kill Ji Zichen? Don't worry; I won't do that. You and your friends are not on my level. I wouldn't need to go through all this trouble to kill you." 0

"Since you won't make a move, then I won’t hold back!" 0

Xia Zhou gritted his teeth, holding the needle firmly. "If I can't blow you up, then I'll stab you to death!" 0

Pushing forward with the needle, Xia Zhou advanced on Samoyan, who stood confidently in front of him. As Xia Zhou aimed for Samoyan's forehead, he saw the tip of the needle piercing between Samoyan's brows. But suddenly, Samoyan swayed and was behind Xia Zhou in an instant. With a chuckle, he said, "You're too slow; you'll never hit me like that!" 0

As soon as he finished speaking, Samoyan kicked toward Xia Zhou's right calf from behind. Xia Zhou fell to his right knee, still gripping the needle in his right hand. In one swift motion, Samoyan seized Xia Zhou's right hand and twisted it painfully. 0

"Ah!" Xia Zhou cried out in agony! 0
