Chapter 167 Serpent Bat Dragon 0

The fog here was thick, making it difficult to find that shadow, and even the exit's glow was nowhere to be seen. With that inexplicable shadow appearing, Lin Chuyu dared not move recklessly. Although she did not know what the Nirvana Fire was, she could only hope that it could kill or drive away the winged shadow. 0

At this moment, Lin Chuyu was already panicking. The Zhuque Chenjing was unfamiliar territory for her, and the unknown brought fear. She hoped that the winged shadow was not far from them so she could strike it with fire and avoid any unnecessary trouble. 0

Though Xiang Bi wanted to set fire to the winged shadow, they first needed to locate their target. They flew through the dense fog for a while, but everything around them was dark and indistinct. After searching for a long time without seeing the winged shadow, anxiety began to creep in. They focused their vision and hearing again, and Lin Chuyu suddenly exclaimed, pointing three zhang away where a shadow flickered in and out of visibility in the fog. 0

The shadow seemed to have horns on its head and appeared serpentine in shape but with wings. Lin Chuyu could not discern what it was, but she knew one thing: this creature was large, significantly bigger than the Zhuque. 0

The shadow circled around them. Li Tang furrowed her brow; she too could not identify what it was, but its circling behavior suggested cunningness, and it had much better vision in the mist than they did. 0

Otherwise, how could it avoid colliding with them while circling? If it wanted to, it could easily shake them off, yet now it not only did not flee but continued to circle them. From its actions, it seemed like this creature intended to... 0

Xiang Bi suddenly understood. "Li Tang, hold on tight! It's about to attack!" 0

Xiang Bi's eyes were fixed on the shadow before them. The circling figure suddenly halted, stopping right in front of them. At that moment, Lin Chuyu noticed that shadows with wings were appearing on both sides as well—then a fourth, a fifth... 0

Soon enough, they saw a swarm of shadows emerging. 0

Lin Chuyu's scalp tingled. "Look! There are so many of them!" 0

The winged shadows charged at them from all directions. At least five shadows surged up from below Xiang Bi, targeting her chest and abdomen, while others dove down from above, attempting to kill or knock them aside. Some flapped their wings, trying to launch a coordinated attack from both sides. 0

Xiang Bi let out a cry and unleashed a burst of flames at the shadow in front of her. Most of it vanished into the fog; however, one shadow caught fire and charged directly at them. This fiery figure revealed its entire form as Xiang Bi exclaimed in surprise, "It's the Serpent Bat Dragon!" 0

As the name suggests, it had the body of a serpent, bat wings, and a fierce dragon head. 0

The Serpent Bat Dragon, engulfed in flames, thrashed through the air like a fiery stick. Lin Chuyu and Xiang Bi leaned to the right just in time as the Serpent Bat Dragon rushed past them, barely half a foot away. As it whipped by, it plummeted downward, the heat radiating from it causing Lin Chuyu's face to sting painfully as she knocked down one of the Serpent Bat Dragons. 0

Suddenly, the remaining Serpent Bat Dragons charged toward them. A sharp spear grazed Xiang Bi's right wing, sending a jolt of electricity coursing through her. She lost control and began to plummet. Xiang Bi gasped, "Where did that spear come from?" 0

Li Tang, with keen eyes, shouted, "There's someone riding on that Serpent Bat Dragon!" 0

As Xiang Bi fell through the air, her wings regained sensation just in time for her to adjust her body and soar back up. The person on the Serpent Bat Dragon waved their spear menacingly toward Lin Chuyu, who let out a shrill cry and pulled herself upward. 0

Seated on Xiang Bi's back, Li Tang saw the spear coming at her and quickly ducked to avoid it. 0

In a hurry, Li Tang reached into her pocket and pulled out three seeds, throwing them toward a nearby Serpent Bat Dragon. The seeds rapidly grew into massive roots, which sprouted vines that suddenly spread outwards. They ensnared eight nearby Serpent Bat Dragons, wrapping around their wings and causing them to plummet from the sky. 0

The riders on the entangled Serpent Bat Dragons struggled against the plants, pulling and hacking at them, but the vines grew faster than they could cut them down. 0

Several vines wrapped tightly around one rider's throat, constricting more and more until there were a few sickening cracks, and that person fell from the back of the Serpent Bat Dragon, disappearing from sight. 0

Some riders found their limbs ensnared while others had their wings tightly bound by the vines, all of them screaming in despair as they fell. 0

Surrounded by Serpent Bat Dragons, Xiang Bi was perplexed about how these creatures had found the entrance to Zhuque Chenjing and who those riders were. 0

"Wait!" Xiang Bi suddenly recalled something. "No! Those riding on the Serpent Bat Dragons aren't human! They're from the divine race! The divine beings look just like humans; only they can tame Serpent Bat Dragons. Humans can never tame them!" 0

Realizing this, Xiang Bi's expression changed drastically. "The divine beings are attacking!" She needed to return quickly to inform her clan, but she knew that the divine beings would not let her go easily. 0

Xiang Bi spotted four divine beings on top of their Serpent Bat Dragons, each holding something that at first glance resembled a pincushion. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was actually a binding rope for dragons. 0

Xiang Bi suddenly turned around, realizing that Lin Chuyu was no longer by her side. "Where did she go?" 0

Li Tang immediately gestured, "Over there!" 0

Xiang Bi followed Li Tang's direction and saw two Serpent Bat Dragons blocking Lin Chuyu from the front and back. Xiang Bi exclaimed, "This is bad! The people from the Divine Clan want to capture her alive with the Dragon Binding Rope!" 0

Xiang Bi quickly asked, "Do you still have any seeds?" 0

Li Tang replied, "No, I only found three in the Vermilion Bird Corridor." 0

Lin Chuyu noticed the individuals on the Serpent Bat Dragons pulling the ropes closer. As she fell rapidly, the two Serpent Bat Dragons pursued her downwards. Below was a thick fog, obscuring the ground, but Lin Chuyu continued to descend. The rush of air generated by her fall began to disperse the fog as she plummeted. 0

As she neared the ground, flying low and straight, the two pursuing Serpent Bat Dragons were unfamiliar with the terrain. When the airflow cleared some of the fog and revealed a cluster of low mountains, it was too late for them to stop. The two Serpent Bat Dragons crashed violently into the sharp peaks of the low mountains, their bellies pierced through, while their riders were thrown off and tumbled onto the rocky ground, bloodied and dazed. 0

Seeing Lin Chuyu use the terrain to her advantage brought a sigh of relief from Xiang Bi. "Be careful!" Li Tang shouted. 0

The magical tools came from the Divine Clan, and they certainly had plenty at their disposal. One of them drew an Artifact Bow and shot a Flying Immortal Arrow. At first, it flew like a swift arrow, but as it approached, a ball at its tip began to grow larger. When the Flying Immortal Arrow was half a yard away from Xiang Bi, the ball suddenly exploded. 0

The force of the explosion left Xiang Bi dazed, as if she had lost her senses. She fell from high above without any awareness of her surroundings, plummeting downwards with her back facing the ground. Li Tang clung tightly to Xiang Bi's feathers as they fell. 0

With no options left, Li Tang could only hold on for dear life. 0

At such a height, even if Xiang Bi were a Phoenix, she would meet her end. Throughout their descent, Li Tang kept calling out Xiang Bi's name, but there was no response. 0

Thinking about the grim fate of falling to her death made Li Tang's scalp tingle with fear. In desperation, she made up her mind and yanked out a handful of feathers from Xiang Bi. The sudden pain jolted Xiang Bi awake; in a panic, she quickly righted herself. Li Tang managed to stabilize herself on Xiang Bi's back as she noticed a bare patch where feathers had been pulled out. 0

"Xiang Bi!" she cried out in pain. "Li Tang! How dare you pluck my feathers!" 0

Li Tang, startled, managed a bitter smile. "If Xiang Bi wants to punish me, we need to make it back alive first." 0

At that moment, Xiang Bi was no longer concerned with Li Tang's grievances. "We must break through! We can't get stuck here, entangled with them like this!" 0

Li Tang, filled with anxiety, replied, "Break through? I don't think it's that easy." 0

Xiang Bi understood the difficulty of breaking free; Serpent Bat Dragons were everywhere. But they had to escape; otherwise, they would die here. 0

She glanced at Lin Chuyu's position. Lin Chuyu was right behind her, a distance away. Xiang Bi quickly retreated towards Lin Chuyu. 0

When Xiang Bi reached Lin Chuyu's side, Lin Chuyu stared wide-eyed at the approaching Serpent Bat Dragons and trembled. "What do we do now?" 0

Xiang Bi gritted her teeth. "Stay close to me. Right now, we have the advantage. This is where I grew up; I'm more familiar with it than they are." 0

Xiang Bi thought about how fighting in the air would be disadvantageous against their overwhelming numbers. The fog that had not been there before now enveloped them, and she wondered what kind of artifact these divine beings had used to create such thick mist. 0

They continued to descend. Kleostratz flapped his wings a few times, but it was only to keep his body from flipping over. For the two on his back, holding on tightly seemed impossible, yet somehow they managed. 0

The fog appeared vast; anyone unfamiliar with the terrain would be trapped within it. However, no matter how extensive the fog or powerful the artifact, they could not change the original landscape. Xiang Bi said, "Follow me to the left. I don't know if it's the right direction, but we have to try our luck. If I remember correctly, that way should lead us to Thunderstrike Mountain." 0

With determination in her heart, Xiang Bi began to flap her wings vigorously, taking advantage of the wind to fly forward quickly. Lin Chuyu dared not lag behind and followed closely, hoping to use Thunderstrike Mountain to shake off those Serpent Bat Dragons. 0
