Chapter 14: The End of the Battle 0

The Arbitrator watched as Canglin remained standing amidst the thunderstorm. More bolts of lightning struck down, their deafening roars shaking the very ground. Each strike exploded upon impact, leaving a scene of carnage around the Divine Chamber, where only corpses littered the area, with Ji Zichen and Yu Ren being the exceptions. Those alive within Fierce Death Valley fled in all directions, desperately trying to escape. 0

Prince Huixin had not yet reached the vicinity of the Divine Chamber, but he was already dazed by the earlier thunderclaps. His face was covered in sand and dirt. Seeing his soldiers panic and run aimlessly, Prince Huixin felt helpless to stop them; all he could do was watch them scatter. He searched for Wei Deputy, who lay not far from him. A surge of fear gripped his heart as he hoped that Wei Deputy had not been struck by lightning. 0

Hurriedly, Prince Huixin ran towards Wei Deputy, relieved to find that he had avoided the thunder's wrath. By the time Prince Huixin reached him, Wei Deputy had already gotten back on his feet. Grabbing Wei Deputy's arms, Prince Huixin asked urgently, "Are you alright?" 0

Wei Deputy was about to respond when his expression changed dramatically. He noticed a wooden shard embedded in Prince Huixin's waist, protruding about two fingers' length deep into his body. Shocked, Wei Deputy exclaimed, "Your Highness!" 0

At first, Prince Huixin hadn’t realized he had been impaled; he felt no pain initially. However, following Wei Deputy's horrified gaze to his waist, the pain suddenly surged through him. Suddenly unable to stand, darkness enveloped him as he collapsed into Wei Deputy's arms. In a panic, Wei Deputy scooped up Prince Huixin and rushed towards the exit of Fierce Death Valley. 0

Canglin focused intently on the Arbitrator, who wore a smile as he regarded him. Xia Lian glared at the Arbitrator, knowing that sealing him was impossible since Xia Lian's Sealing Technique was effective only against Evil Gods. 0

The Arbitrator addressed everyone, "From your expressions, I can tell you find me quite distasteful." 0

Regardless of what others thought, Ji Zichen indeed felt this way. The Arbitrator treated his own body like an inn, allowing anyone to possess it at will. Although Canglin stood before the Arbitrator, Ji Zichen could see that Canglin was already at his limit; if the Arbitrator unleashed another bolt of lightning, Canglin would surely be unable to evade it. Thus, Ji Zichen decided to act first. 0

As the thunder faded away, Ji Zichen unleashed a Thunder Pearl aimed at the Arbitrator. The power of the lightning summoned by the Arbitrator surpassed that of Ji Zichen ’s attack. Regardless of who resided within him at that moment, the Arbitrator was still flesh and blood; he would die if struck by lightning. Although Ji Zichen ’s attack bore down on him with fierce intent, the Arbitrator chose to evade. 0

Seeing that the Arbitrator had moved five paces away from him, Ji Zichen called out, "Xia Lian! Saint King! Protect Canglin and get out of here!" 0

Though Canglin stood before them in human form, Kai Zhou Shen remained formless and intangible. Canglin felt no fear regarding this; however, fatigue began to set in. What truly frightened Canglin was that if he could not contain the Arbitrator, great danger would befall this world. Suddenly, without any control over it, a fissure appeared in Canglin’s abdomen. 0

A sudden gravitational pull emanated from this fissure began to draw him in. Canglin's body gradually became transparent and distorted as he declared, "My spirit is damaged; I cannot maintain my human form any longer! You must leave quickly!" 0

As soon as Canglin finished speaking, his entire body was consumed by the fissure and vanished from sight. 0

Ji Zichen gasped in shock. "What was that fissure...?" 0

Saint King replied calmly, "It's alright; Canglin has returned to the Spirit Immortal Realm." 0

“Spirit Immortal Realm?” The Arbitrator heard the Saint King and continued, “So that person is from the divine race. No wonder my lightning couldn't kill him.” 0

The Arbitrator was no longer afraid of those from the divine race. He felt a sudden surge of power within him and thought about how to make good use of this strength, envisioning himself shifting the sun, moon, and stars, arranging them as he pleased. 0

The Arbitrator shouted without regard for anyone around him, “I am unconquerable! I am the strongest!” 0

With the Evil God leaving his body, the Arbitrator lost his immortal form. Although the Gravel Demon could not grant him immortality, he had gained immense power. 0

The Arbitrator immediately glanced at the three people before him. He could see the fear in their eyes directed at him. He thought, “They must also feel the surge of power within themselves.” 0

The Saint King struggled to calm himself and suddenly realized that the Gravel Demon and the Arbitrator were one entity. If the Arbitrator were to die, then surely the Gravel Demon would cease to cause trouble as well, since possession implied a certain level of connection. 0

The Saint King cursed himself for panicking; how could he forget such a simple truth? The departure of the Evil God meant that for Ji Zichen, his training had been in vain. Their purpose was to seal away the Evil God, but unexpectedly, things unfolded in a way they could never have anticipated. However, this was not necessarily the worst outcome. 0

Though powerful, the Gravel Demon did not require as much effort to seal as the Evil God. The confidence and determination returned to the Saint King's eyes. He called over Ji Zichen and Xia Lian, whispering a few words to them. Suddenly, both Ji Zichen and Xia Lian found renewed confidence for battle. 0

After a great upheaval, drums began to sound again. Due to the indiscriminate thunder strikes in the Fierce Death Valley, everyone who wished to survive fled from the Mountain Valley. The Cult members and soldiers stood together, panting heavily. For a moment, they felt a sense of shared suffering; at that instant, there was no urge to kill. 0

But as the drums sounded louder, both sides remembered their positions. The soldiers let out a collective roar first; having just escaped death's grasp, they now raised their weapons against each other once more. In this chaos of slaughter, neither side understood what this sudden change meant. 0

Regardless of anything else, their positions remained adversarial. A soldier shouted out, “Kill them! Avenge our fallen brothers!” 0

The soldiers echoed in unison, “Kill them! Avenge our fallen brothers!” 0

Seeing themselves surrounded by soldiers, the members of the Cult suddenly felt an unprecedented panic. Many were killed before they could even fully lift their weapons. As soldiers' blades fell one after another, members of the Hall of Malevolence Cult dropped like flies, beginning to flee as they were gradually annihilated. 0

When Wei Deputy found the Military Doctor with Prince Huixin, there were already some doctors treating him. Although worried about Prince Huixin's injuries, Wei Deputy did not choose to stand by and protect him; he knew that if Prince Huixin had not lost consciousness, he would not be idle in this situation. 0

Most of the members of the Cult had been dealt with, but some remained. Wei Deputy could not give them a chance to regroup; he swung his weapon relentlessly against the remaining members of the Cult. 0

“Kill them all!” shouted Wei Deputy. “Leave no chance for survival!” 0

This is not a massacre, for if the situation were to reverse, those from the Hall of Malevolence and the Cult would treat them the same way. Upon hearing Wei Deputy's call, the soldiers finally regained their sense of purpose and began to regroup. Despite some members of the Cult being quite large in stature, the soldiers advanced fearlessly. 0

Wei Deputy continued to strive for victory. He raised his head and saw several Cult members charging toward him as if they were risking their lives. However, those Cult members did not get close to Wei Deputy; they were swiftly dispatched by other soldiers. 0

Wei Deputy could see inside Fierce Death Valley, where there were thunderous caves. He thought to himself, "Who is fighting in there?" but he had no idea who was battling within. He glanced briefly and chose not to dwell on it. 0

Around Mountain Valley, more than twenty Cult members attempted to break through the soldiers' encirclement from different directions, but they had no chance of escaping. It was becoming increasingly difficult to spot any remaining members of the Hall of Malevolence outside Mountain Valley. The deputy officer looked far into the distance and saw the dawn of victory. 0

Ultimately, under such brutal attacks, there were no survivors from the Hall of Malevolence. However, on Wei Deputy's side of Mountain Valley, there were certainly still some fleeing Cult members in other directions, though they posed little threat now. Resistance remained in various places but was quickly quelled by the soldiers. Wei Deputy gazed at the field littered with corpses. 0

The bodies of Hall of Malevolence members lay atop those of soldiers, and some soldiers' bodies were also buried beneath Hall of Malevolence members. Although Wei Deputy knew they had won, he felt no joy; those soldiers who died here would never reunite with their friends and loved ones. 0

Despite being enemies, both sides were human. To Wei Deputy, it felt like fratricide; these Hall of Malevolence members had merely been misled by the Arbitrator and fell victim to his deceit. Wei Deputy understood that although they had won this time, other battles awaited him. The war would continue if this could even be considered a battle. 0

When the horn of victory sounded, Wei Deputy's expression grew complex. At that moment, the Military Doctor had finished treating Prince Huixin, yet he still had not awakened. Wei Deputy ordered a cavalry unit to escort Prince Huixin back to the city. Some cavalrymen still had plenty of energy left, while others felt utterly exhausted. 0

Wei Deputy also felt utterly drained; his body was soaked with sweat, and he felt dizzy as his focus waned. Yet he reminded himself that he could not afford to collapse just yet. 0

Under the escort of the cavalry, Prince Huixin was now far from Fierce Death Valley. After this battle, he had achieved great success, which would significantly impact his future ascension to the throne. 0

Prince Huixin could rest at this moment, but Wei Deputy could not. He quickly summoned several squads of soldiers and planned to send some of them to disperse news of their victory to Desolate Central Plain while dispatching others to distant cities in search of allies to regroup and form a stronger army. 0
