Chapter 11: The Gravel Demon 0

Indeed, Prince Huixin could not afford to be complacent now; otherwise, he would only face the terrifying reality. 0

Wei Deputy finished clearing the Divine Eagle from the hill and rode down to join the chaotic battle. He raised his long sword high, and the cavalry behind him held their breath, focusing intently on Wei Deputy's sword, waiting for his command. Behind the cavalry, the Artifact Archer Soldiers stood tall and calm, now filled with confidence. 0

The Artifact Archer Soldiers prepared for another round of shooting. Prince Huixin issued the order, and the horns sounded in unison. The Artifact Arrows soared into the air once more. Wei Deputy led the cavalry team charging towards the Hall of Malevolence Cult, as horse neighs and human shouts intertwined. 0

As both sides closed in for the clash, arrows began to rain down. The Hall of Malevolence Cult, positioned at the center, was distracted by the Artifact Arrows. Just after dodging them, they were immediately struck down by swords and blades. This was precisely the chaos Prince Huixin desired. 0

The speed of Wei Deputy and his cavalry allowed them to penetrate deep into enemy territory quickly. Although the Cult's formation was tight, gaps were still created by the cavalry's charge. The cavalry's diverse spears pierced through the heads of the Hall of Malevolence and into their bodies. 0

In a flash, the cavalry surged into their ranks, forcing the Hall of Malevolence Cult to temporarily retreat. Wei Deputy displayed exceptional bravery; his long sword seemed to have a mind of its own, tearing into the flesh of the Hall of Malevolence Cult. The cavalry proved their might as infantry flanked from the side, thrusting wildly wherever they found openings that weren't occupied by their own. 0

This strategy was indeed effective: with cavalry charging in front and infantry on the flanks, while Artifact Arrows continued to rain down from afar. Prince Huixin stood at a distance from the battlefield, observing every combat process intently, searching for any weaknesses. 0

Everyone was giving their all; despite their fatigue, they persevered. As the numbers of the Hall of Malevolence Cult dwindled, their expressions grew increasingly excited. 0

Suddenly, a soldier let out a horrific scream as he fell backward. His body turned blue all over and collapsed to the ground as nothing but a skeleton. The other soldiers stared in shock at this sudden turn of events. Wei Deputy was equally astonished but quickly suppressed his emotions and ordered them not to freeze up but to return to their positions and continue fighting. 0

This strange occurrence caught Prince Huixin's attention as well. He swiftly scanned the battlefield for the source of this anomaly. It didn't take long before he spotted an exceptionally conspicuous Demon Beast—the Dark Cunning Insect. This creature could spit out a venom that turned a person’s body blue in an instant, reducing them to bones. The Dark Cunning Insect was notoriously difficult to catch; it was unexpected to find one here. 0

The Dark Cunning Insect was as large as a horse but lacked its strength. Its appearance resembled that of a silkworm but with limbs. Someone rode atop it, watching over the battlefield from behind the Hall of Malevolence's ranks. This person wore a black robe that concealed their entire form. Although Prince Huixin could not see their eyes, he sensed that they must possess a pair of gloomy orbs. 0

Prince Huixin speculated, "This person might be one of the leaders of the Hall of Malevolence." 0

He knew that there was a Great Seat within the Hall of Malevolence; he had seen it before, but this figure was clearly unfamiliar to him. 0

Prince Huixin had never seen this individual in person before, but his commander recognized who it was and said, "That person is a Dark Priest; their status within the Hall of Malevolence is similar to ours as Deputy Officers." 0

"So he is the Dark Priest," Prince Huixin said. "I've heard of them but never seen one. I heard there are many different High Priests in the Hall of Malevolence, each with their own duties. This Dark Priest's main task is to hunt the Dark Cunning Insect." 0

The commander replied, "It's not surprising that the prince hasn't seen them; those High Priests spend most of their time searching for Demon Beasts. Now, they must have all returned." 0

Prince Huixin nodded. "Large Demon Beasts are difficult to catch, so there can't be many Dark Cunning Insects left in the Hall of Malevolence. This Dark Cunning Insect is quite troublesome, but if we can kill this man, we can finish this battle in one go." 0

The Dark Priest led the Cult into the fray, and the Dark Cunning Insect continuously sprayed venom from its mouth. Anyone touched by the venom would surely die. Wei Deputy was in the midst of it all, witnessing the Dark Cunning Insect rampaging and killing numerous Soldiers. His eyes turned red with anger, but he had no way to deal with the Dark Cunning Insect, knowing that if he got too close to its spraying range, he would have no chance of survival. 0

Prince Huixin kept his gaze fixed on the Dark Priest and reached out to a nearby soldier. "Bring me the Artifact Bow!" 0

Seeing Prince Huixin's actions, the commander was startled. "Your Highness! The battle is now leaning in our favor; you must not put yourself in danger!" 0

Prince Huixin smiled slightly. "That's exactly why I want to show my skills. Watching the soldiers fight here makes my hands itch." 0

A soldier handed over the Artifact Bow and arrows. Prince Huixin steadied the bow and urged his horse forward. Just as Wei Deputy was contemplating how to deal with the Dark Priest, Prince Huixin galloped past him. Wei Deputy's face changed dramatically upon seeing Prince Huixin there. "Your Highness! Get back!" 0

Determined, Prince Huixin would not retreat without achieving something. As he sped past Wei Deputy, he was now close to the Dark Priest. The Dark Priest sensed someone approaching and glanced over just in time to see Prince Huixin shooting Artifact Arrows at him. He sneered inwardly, thinking, "One arrow won't take my life!" 0

The Dark Priest turned his Dark Cunning Insect around and prepared to sweep away the Artifact Arrows with his spear. However, when his spear made contact with an Artifact Arrow, it suddenly exploded. The Dark Priest had no time to react and was blown apart, while the Dark Cunning Insect was also torn in half. The last thing the Dark Priest did was open his mouth wide, as there was nothing left to support his jaw. 0

Wei Deputy gasped in shock and thought, "How could these Artifact Arrows explode?" 0

But then he suddenly burst into laughter. "So that's how it is! The prince must have hidden explosive Black Iron within the Artifact Arrows!" 0

With the Dark Priest gone, most of the Cult in the Hall of Malevolence lost their direction. Prince Huixin led his team forward aggressively while the Cult members could only retreat step by step. 0

Prince Huixin shouted loudly, "Seize this opportunity to pursue! Their defeat is certain!" 0

Seeing that it was indeed the prince who had slain that vicious Dark Priest, the soldiers' spirits lifted, and they charged forward without hesitation. 0

"Charge forward and don't stop!" Deputy Wei shouted to Prince Huixin as he stood beside him, urging his cavalry, "Don't give them any chance to turn the tide!" 0

The soldiers grew more courageous with each battle, and before long, the formation of the Hall of Malevolence Cult had been torn in half. 0

Canglin and Saint King, who were infiltrating the Hall of Malevolence, also saw the direct beam of green light. They moved closer to it, and on the way, Saint King remarked, "Did you hear that? There's the sound of fighting outside." 0

Canglin nodded. Although the noise was faint, he could still hear it. "The people inside the Hall of Malevolence are resisting the attackers, which is why the defenses within Evil Spirit Hall Mountain Valley are so weak." 0

"Who is attacking the Hall of Malevolence?" Saint King asked. 0

Canglin closed his eyes for a moment, his consciousness seemingly returning to Kai Zhou Shen. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and said, "It's soldiers from Qingyang City. I can also see soldiers from other cities; they are gathering together to attack Fierce Death Valley. However, they are suffering losses." 0

Saint King nodded. "What are their chances of success?" 0

Canglin replied, "I can't be distracted right now. Based on what I just saw in the battle situation, they will soon breach Mountain Valley." 0

"Good," Saint King said. "This increases our chances of winning." 0

Canglin furrowed his brow. "Did you figure out what that green light is?" 0

Saint King shook his head. "I don't know. You're the Prophet God; if you can't tell, then I certainly can't. However, judging by its direction, it seems to be coming from some Divine Chamber or temple." 0

Canglin shared the same view as Saint King. 0

The green light was not what Prince Huixin had speculated—a summoning ritual—but he was partially correct; it was some kind of ritual, though not a summoning. The High Priest looked at the Arbitrator lying on the platform; the Arbitrator appeared lifeless as he lay there. 0

Since the Evil God attached itself to the Arbitrator, the Arbitrator's health had been deteriorating. Last night, the Arbitrator suddenly collapsed and fell unconscious, which startled the High Priest. However, earlier today, the Arbitrator opened his eyes, appearing extremely weak. He instructed the High Priest to bring him to the Desolate Divine Chamber, where a beam of Green Light from outside appeared to be seven or eight feet wide. 0

Inside the Divine Chamber, this Green Light was only as big as a thumb. The thumb-sized Green Light shone down on the Arbitrator's forehead. As the Green Light illuminated him, the Arbitrator gradually regained some strength, but his expression was one of great pain. Seeing the Arbitrator in such agony, the High Priest felt an urge to end his suffering quickly. 0

Yet, the High Priest did not act. The Arbitrator had previously told him that all of this was caused by the Evil God. Knowing the Evil God's intentions, the Arbitrator was determined not to let it succeed. This Green Light was known as the Light of Gravel Demon; simply put, the Arbitrator intended to draw the Gravel Demon into his body to suppress the Evil God. Currently, a struggle for control was taking place between the Evil God and the Gravel Demon within him, which explained the Arbitrator's torment. 0

The Green Light appeared to be directed towards the sky, but in reality, it originated from even farther away in the Nine Nether Maze, where the Gravel Demon resided. If given a choice, the Arbitrator would prefer not to provoke the Gravel Demon, but he had no other options left. 0

Lying down with his eyes open, the Arbitrator said, "You haven't slept all night; you should rest." 0

"I'm not tired," replied the High Priest. "But Arbitrator, when will this ritual end?" 0

"I can't say for sure; it depends on who among them wins. However, I can sense that this ritual will conclude soon," said the Arbitrator before pausing to ask, "Why is it so noisy outside?" 0

In truth, no sounds from outside penetrated in; at least for the High Priest, everything was silent. The Arbitrator could hear noises from outside—perhaps this ritual heightened his senses or perception. 0

Although unable to hear anything himself, the High Priest already understood what was happening outside. "It's Prince Huixin leading an attack on Fierce Death Valley," he informed. 0

The Arbitrator smirked coldly. "Very well. Once I suppress the Evil God with the Gravel Demon, I will personally deal with him." 0
