Chapter 11 Azure Blaze Lizard 0

Ji Zichen stared in astonishment at Xia Lian. The wind was filled with a sweet scent; could it be that she had hidden something in the breeze? Xia Lian smiled and winked at him, softly saying, "Save them." 0

Ji Zichen quickly came to his senses and nodded eagerly, "Yes." 0

The two of them climbed onto the platform. Although the militia members were unconscious, Ji Zichen kept a close watch on their movements. They were only a few feet away from the militia, who were deeply asleep and unaware of their presence. 0

Ji Zichen thought to himself, "That sweet scent must be some potent drug; otherwise, they wouldn't be sleeping so soundly." 0

Xia Lian was opening the cage when Ji Zichen quietly asked, "Is Zang Da unconscious too? It's so big; how are we going to carry it?" 0

Xia Lian had already opened the door of the Formation Cage and replied, "Of course, we’ll wake it up. Who has the strength to drag it away?" She took out a vial and held it to Zang Da's nose for it to sniff. After a moment, Zang Da began to regain consciousness, opening its eyes but appearing dazed and unable to focus. Ji Zichen called its name, but there was no response. 0

Ji Zichen asked, "Is it awake or not?" 0

Xia Lian frowned and said, "I think I might have given it too much of the drug." 0

Ji Zichen gently shook Zang Da's massive body, but it barely moved. Xia Lian let Zang Da sniff the vial again, and finally, it woke up, its eyes wide open. 0

Ji Zichen exclaimed, "It's awake!" 0

Zang Da moved its mouth as if trying to speak. Ji Zichen hurriedly said, "Don't talk; your voice is too loud; you'll wake everyone else." 0

Zang Da fell silent, blinking at Ji Zichen and Xia Lian. It could hardly believe that these two had come to rescue it. Filled with gratitude, Zang Da nodded at them. 0

Ji Zichen reached out his hand to Xia Lian and said, "Give me the vial; I'll go wake Lin Chuyu." 0

Xia Lian handed the vial to Ji Zichen. As he went to wake Lin Chuyu, Xia Lian turned to Zang Da and said, "Come on; we need to hurry and leave." 0

Zang Da nodded slightly. As Zang Da stepped halfway out of the cage, the blue Formation Cage emitted a yellow light, signaling an impending alarm. Xia Lian was very familiar with the Formation Cage and knew how to handle it. A purple glow emanated from her hands, completely enveloping the cage. By the time Zang Da was fully out, beads of sweat had formed on Xia Lian's forehead. 0

Xia Lian retracted the glow, and Ji Zichen supported the still-dazed Lin Chuyu as they approached. Ji Zichen said, "Everyone's here; let's go." 0

Xia Lian replied, "You all go ahead; I can't leave." 0

"Why not?" Ji Zichen asked. 0

"If I leave, it would mean I saved it. You all should hurry; I'll find a way to catch up with you," Xia Lian insisted. 0

Ji Zichen thought about how if Xia Lian left with them, her tribe would definitely connect the dots, which would cause her a lot of trouble. "Then you stay behind. If they don't believe you, just pin everything on me," Ji Zichen suggested. 0

Xia Lian smiled and said, "I know how to handle this; you should leave quickly." 0

The three of them departed from the Open Zhou Divine Platform and arrived at the stables in the village. At that moment, Ji Zichen heard the sound of a horn, indicating that someone had awakened. Ji Zichen and Lin Chuyu mounted their horses, while Zang Da obviously did not need a mount; its size surpassed that of a horse, and its agility was far superior. In the wilderness, it could certainly outrun any horse. 0

The horn echoed throughout every corner of the village. If they didn't leave soon, they would be trapped inside. The three hurriedly set off. Ji Zichen had no idea that rescuing Zang Da would put Xia Lian in such a difficult position. Although Zang Da had never posed a threat to the village and its fate wasn't particularly important to them, for Xia Lian, this was tantamount to betraying Flying Wolf. 0

Betraying Flying Wolf meant betraying the village—a bold act indeed. Xia Lian could very well face condemnation from Flying Wolf. As soon as Flying Wolf awoke, he fixed a fierce gaze on Xia Lian. Though she didn't want to confront him, she wasn't afraid. Unexpectedly, Flying Wolf did not immediately reprimand her; instead, he ordered the village militia to assemble. 0

In the village, Flying Wolf's commands were nearly absolute; his words carried as much weight as those of the chief—if not more. 0

Flying Wolf wasn't interested in questioning anyone right now; he only wanted to capture those who had escaped. However, there were many ferocious Demon Beasts in the Opening of the Zhou Wasteland. Acting recklessly could provoke an attack from them, so recovering the people without incurring too great a cost was paramount. 0

As soon as the chief awoke, she returned to her Stone House. Flying Wolf didn't ask but knew she must have gone to seek help from Kai Zhou Shen again. Although Flying Wolf was a loyal follower of Kai Zhou Shen, he didn't like having to consult him for everything; he preferred to rely on or trust himself. 0

The militia had gathered and looked nervously at Flying Wolf. He did not scold them but instead greeted them warmly. This was Flying Wolf's way of managing people; no matter what happened, he always maintained an attitude of control over the situation and could not let his own unease show when facing the militia. 0

"Flying Wolf instructed two members of the Militia to bring over the Azure Blaze Lizard. The Azure Blaze Lizard, a burrowing beast native to the Opening of the Zhou Wasteland, was adept at digging and preying on snakes and ants. Originally harmless to humans, the Azure Blaze Lizard had developed a taste for meat after undergoing secret training in the village. 0

Transformed into a nightmare creature that craved flesh, the Azure Blaze Lizard was longer than two adults combined and quite robust. Two members of the Militia led one such lizard, its neck bound by a chain that made it extremely uncomfortable. The lizard was restless throughout the journey; if it were to clash with a human, the odds of survival were slim. 0

Despite its terrifying appearance, the Azure Blaze Lizard had been trained by humans, which meant the Militia had ways to control it. Its agitation was met with a familiar sound—a thick whip cracking against its body. The lizard flinched, clearly fearful of the whip. 0

"This one is newly trained and not very obedient yet," one Militia member remarked, "but it should be useful." 0

"Very good," Flying Wolf nodded in approval. 0

He continued, "Have them release more Azure Blaze Lizards; we need to capture those people." 0

The Azure Blaze Lizard let out a roar, visibly excited. At this moment, the Militia refrained from striking it, as they needed to harness this heightened state. 0

Soon after, three more Azure Blaze Lizards were brought in by the Militia. Flying Wolf acknowledged them with a nod, and the Militia gave commands to the lizards. The four Azure Blaze Lizards began digging into the ground. 0

"They know what to look for," Flying Wolf told his Militia. "Follow the Azure Blaze Lizards closely." The Militia gripped their whips tightly; it was their only means of keeping the lizards in line. Without them, they might become prey themselves. 0

"Begin the capture!" Flying Wolf ordered." 0
