Chapter 99: Escape 0

The Arbitrator had indeed not fully resurrected the Evil God. The Evil God’s human-like, translucent form floated in mid-air above a Formation platform located in a deep valley of the Hall of Malevolence. The Formation was over three yards wide and square in shape. The Evil God had trapped the Blue Shield and looked down from his elevated position at the Arbitrator. "You are the one who has resurrected me." 0

Though the Arbitrator stood at a lower position, his pride seemed to surpass that of the floating Evil God. "I am the one who has brought you back," he replied. 0

The Evil God spoke with immense authority, "I have waited for you for a long time. You have finally come. What are you waiting for? Quickly, fully resurrect me." 0

The Arbitrator cast a disdainful glance at the Evil God. "I am the one who has resurrected you, but I am not your messenger." 0

The Evil God’s expression turned to one of surprise; clearly, the Arbitrator's response was unexpected. "Then why have you summoned my Soul?" 0

The Arbitrator cunningly replied, "If it were the previous Arbitrator, I believe he might have been interested in fully resurrecting you, but I am not. However, I do not wish to seal you away." 0

The Evil God asked, "If you do not kill me or seal me, what is your purpose?" 0

The Arbitrator's eyes gleamed with intent. "Let me become immortal, and we can rule this world together." 0

The Evil God roared in anger, "You vile person! You want my Soul to inhabit your body! This is delusional thinking!" 0

The Arbitrator remained unfazed by the Evil God's fury and calmly stated, "Do you still wish to return to the Underworld Border? I have given you the best choice. You have been sealed for too long; if this continues, you will be forgotten by this world. Let me borrow your power and restore your name throughout the realm." 0

Killing intent flashed in the Evil God's eyes! "You want to replace me and become the god of all!" 0

Upon seeing so many centipedes appear, the four of them felt their scalps go numb. Xia Lian thought to himself that it was bad news. "The High Priest is coming!" 0

Ji Zichen saw that they were surrounded by centipedes closing in on them; entering the secret passage was no longer an option. However, if they wanted to survive and have a future, Ji Zichen could not just sit back and wait for death. Gritting his teeth, he declared, "I'll clear a path with fire dragons; stay close behind me!" 0

Among thousands of centipedes, one of them opened its mouth and a mocking voice emerged from the swarm. "Delusional thinking! You still want to escape?" 0

Lin Chuyu turned pale at the sight of so many centipedes. Shen Bifan tightly held Lin Chuyu's hand, feeling both disgusted and terrified. Xia Lian recognized the High Priest's power and did not want Ji Zichen's efforts to be in vain. He said, "We can't get into the secret passage; the High Priest's centipedes are endless, and with the passage sealed off, even if we could enter, it would be a dead end." 0

"Are we just going to let ourselves be slaughtered?" Ji Zichen knew that the only option now was to obediently listen to Xia Lian. A chilling laughter echoed from the Centipede Swarm, sending shivers down their spines. This laughter ignited a surge of anger within Ji Zichen, who stood protectively in front of the three girls, his eyes blazing with fury. 0

Ji Zichen turned to Xia Lian and asked, "If we don't go into the secret passage, how are we supposed to leave?" 0

The laughter from the Centipede Swarm grew louder. "Exactly! If you don't enter the secret passage, how do you plan to escape? Think carefully about this. But don't die too quickly; that would be rather boring." 0

As the words fell, the centipedes began to hiss, as if joining in on the laughter. 0

The sound was so grating that Ji Zichen felt like he could burst into flames. He shouted angrily, "You think you can make me die? You're dreaming!" 0

A cold voice replied, "Dreaming? Can you really escape?" The tone dripped with disdain. Ji Zichen found himself trapped in such perilous circumstances that he could only endure the mockery. 0

Seeing blood seeping from Ji Zichen's chest, Xia Lian felt an inexplicable flush spread across her face. Suddenly, she reached out and wiped her hand over his wound. Her palm became stained with blood, and without hesitation, she flung it towards the Centipede Swarm. The blood flew slowly at first but then erupted into a mist just inches away from the swarm, shooting out like a rain of needles aimed at the centipedes. 0

The High Priest sneered inwardly, "Xia Lian, what does killing a few centipedes matter?" 0

He made no move to protect the Centipede Swarm. The mist initially appeared to be an attack directed at them, but just as it was about to hit, it seemed to gain a life of its own and veered off towards a shadowy corner of a nearby building. The High Priest thought to himself, "Xia Lian seems to understand me well." 0

Suddenly, his figure sprang forth from the shadows. Though he retained a human shape, he had sprouted eight pairs of arms, resembling a standing centipede. As the blood mist approached him, he merely smiled coldly, confident in his ability to easily block it. When the mist drew near his face, he gathered his energy and saw that centipedes were rapidly gathering around him like a protective shield. 0

Unexpectedly, this soft mist passed through the barrier formed by the centipedes and entered directly into the High Priest's face. A sudden burning pain akin to fire shot through him, causing him to instinctively cover his face and scream in agony. 0

At that moment, Ji Zichen was shocked—not by the High Priest's injury but by how Xia Lian knew his blood was toxic. He had forgotten this crucial detail himself. Cursing himself internally for not remembering that his blood was poisonous to monsters only added to his frustration. 0

The High Priest's cries were filled with unbearable pain. Under the faint moonlight, one could vaguely see holes forming on his face like honeycomb patterns; around these holes, flesh began to rot away as thick purple blood oozed out. Witnessing such a scene made everyone gasp in horror simultaneously. 0

"Let's go!" Xia Lian commanded immediately. 0

Before Ji Zichen stood an opening—a gap created when the centipedes formed their shield. Without further thought, they rushed through it. 0

The four of them dashed into the maze-like secret passageway. Xia Lian led them back to the previous teleportation platform and urged them urgently, "Hurry! The High Priest may be temporarily injured, but he will recover quickly." 0

Ji Zichen was taken aback. "Aren't you coming with us?" 0

Xia Lian forced a smile. "Do you want me to come with you?" 0

At that moment, Ji Zichen hesitated, unable to respond. Xia Lian understood that no one would dare to have someone who could possess them at any moment by their side. "Let's go. If fate allows, we will meet again," she said. 0

With that, Xia Lian turned back toward the entrance. She pressed her lips together as she walked, feeling drained from the earlier blood mist that had taken a toll on her spirit. She struggled to hide her discomfort from Ji Zichen, swallowing the sweetness that had almost escaped her lips. Once Xia Lian exited the secret passage, she found the High Priest still standing there, though the corrosive holes on his face were gradually healing. 0

The High Priest's wounds were not healing due to any regenerative ability of his own; rather, centipedes were continuously crawling in through the holes, assisting in mending his injuries. 0

When the High Priest saw Xia Lian before him, surprise and wariness filled his eyes. "How did you know his blood could harm me?" he asked. 0

Xia Lian coldly replied, "That has nothing to do with you." 0

The High Priest sneered. "You really think I wouldn't dare to kill you just because you're not running away with them?" 0

Xia Lian retorted, "Do you think I'm afraid of death? If I wanted to kill you, I could do it right now." 0

The High Priest fell silent; with the centipedes treating him, he indeed dared not make any rash moves. 0

Xia Lian took a step toward the Evil God Platform. 0
