Chapter 69: The Conclusion of the Incident 0

As Kong Qi saw the Demon-Slaying Sword thrusting towards her, and feeling her body already bound, she closed her eyes and ceased to resist. However, after a few moments, she sensed that her nose could still breathe. A doubt arose in Kong Qi's heart: "Am I not dead?" 0

Kong Qi opened her eyes to find the sword tip halted just inches from her brow. Yet the chill of the Demon-Slaying Sword seeped into her bones, leaving her feeling cold all over. Ji Zichen did not stop the sword out of pity; rather, he had seen the Spider Emblem in the palm of Kong Qi's eagle claw. 0

Ji Zichen had never expected to see this emblem here. The moment the Spider Emblem entered his sight, he immediately recalled the ghost from Corner Lodge and remembered that Ghost Guardian. Surprise and urgency flickered in Ji Zichen's eyes. 0

Kong Qi also noticed the unusual emotion in Ji Zichen's gaze. She looked at him in confusion and asked, "Why don't you stab down?" 0

Ji Zichen's expression tightened as he pressed, "Where is the person who turned you into a monster?" 0

Kong Qi was taken aback. When Shilan thought of that woman with an incredibly pale right half of her face, looking as if she had aged twenty years, she parted her lips, which were even whiter than her face, and softly said, "I don't know. We haven't seen her since that night when we 'rescued' my sister." 0

Meng Hai's hand trembled more and more. Seeing Ji Zichen hesitate to act, he couldn't help but shout, "Hey! Are you going to kill her or not? I can't hold on much longer!" 0

Just as Ji Zichen was left without answers, members of the Crimson Rhino Battalion began to approach slowly. A team of twenty soldiers from the Crimson Rhino Battalion arrived in three groups. Each soldier wore red rhinoceros armor and a helmet adorned with rhinoceros horns, appearing blood-red all over. 0

The soldiers of the Crimson Rhino Battalion marched forward with imposing strides. The leading soldier held a Thousand-Pin Umbrella, which resembled an ordinary oil umbrella. 0

Upon seeing the soldiers from the Crimson Rhino Battalion arrive, Meng Hai inwardly cursed his luck because he knew how formidable they were: "Here comes the tough ones!" 0

Ji Zichen seemed to understand the tactics of the Crimson Rhino Battalion as well; a glance revealed that the front-line soldiers simultaneously raised their Thousand-Pin Umbrellas. Ji Zichen gasped, "This is bad!" 0

He had long abandoned any thoughts of killing Kong Qi and quickly moved his body away from her. 0

The front line of twenty soldiers shouted, "Umbrella Falls with a Thousand Pins!" 0

Twenty umbrellas soared into the air, shooting out steel spikes as large as pig hooves towards Kong Qi. 0

Fortunately, Ji Zichen moved quickly. As he retreated several yards away, he saw steel spikes flying chaotically around him. A few spikes landed just inches in front of his toes, causing him to break out in a cold sweat: "That was close!" 0

At the same time that Ji Zichen evaded danger, Meng Hai also retracted his vine whip. He was only four yards away from Kong Qi; if he had stayed still while those steel spikes rained down, he would have been shot dead by them. 0

Kong Qi suddenly released her grip, spreading her wings as she intended to soar away. However, the steel spikes came at her too quickly. Realizing that she couldn't take flight in time, she could only minimize the area of impact. Rolling to the right, Kong Qi's massive body managed to evade most of the spikes, but ten of them pierced through her flesh, sending waves of excruciating pain coursing through her, causing her to cry out. 0

Lin Chuyu had already been moving alongside Meng Hai, trying to dodge as the steel spikes shot out haphazardly. Her face turned pale as she exclaimed, "They want to kill us too!" 0

Meng Hai, still shaken, glanced at the soldiers of the Crimson Rhino Battalion with a look of disgust. "This Thousand-Pin Umbrella is a siege weapon that can instantly reduce enemy numbers. Without a protective shield, there's no way to avoid it." 0

Seeing Kong Qi injured made Lin Chuyu feel an uncomfortable weight on her heart, as if it were being crushed by a stone. She cried out in disbelief, "Uncle Meng, didn't you say you had hidden away the killing weapons?" 0

Meng Hai could only smile wryly. "It's not just us who seek out weapons; we’re just on a larger scale. To deal with this Green Demon Eagle, even the siege team was dispatched. Such weapons are only suitable for sieges; firing them within the city would harm civilians." 0

He snorted in disdain. "Using such weapons within the city is outrageous." 0

An officer from the Crimson Rhino Battalion shouted, "Don't let that monster escape! Thousand-Pin Umbrella team fall back, Fierce Death Insect Squad move up!" 0

Lin Chuyu watched as a squad of soldiers wearing black gloves advanced. Each soldier held a gray, flat insect in their right hand, about the size of a palm. Not recognizing these creatures, Lin Chuyu asked, "What are those?" 0

Meng Hai focused his gaze and exclaimed in surprise, "They're Poisonous Leeches!" 0

One soldier spotted someone near Kong Qi and reported to the officer, "There are still people over there." 0

The officer coldly replied, "Don't worry about them; our orders are to subdue the Green Demon Eagle." 0

Hearing this disregard for their lives made Meng Hai sneer coldly. "In their eyes, we’re not even worth as much as dogs." 0

Shilan hesitated as she looked at Ji Zichen before finally mustering the courage to ask, "Why do you want to question that woman?" 0

Ji Zichen glanced at Shilan from several yards away and responded, "She shouldn't be alive any more than you should." 0

Shilan appeared sorrowful and forced a smile. "Death is death; living in any form is wrong. Sister, we need to go where we belong." 0

Kong Qi was taken aback by Shilan's words. "What do you want to do?" 0
