Chapter 68: The True Monster 0

Kong Qi, no, to be precise, it was Kong Qi who felt such emotional turmoil upon seeing Mad Bull. This was because the Tenth Prince had surrounded the Kong Family with troops, and Mad Bull was among them, taking action to kill. 0

Kong Qi extended his sharp claws, glaring down at Mad Bull with a look of resentment. "I will never forget your face! You are the one who killed me, turning me into this!" 0

Meng Hai sensed that Kong Qi was about to attack and quickly pulled Lin Chuyu toward the city gate. "Hurry!" 0

Mad Bull's group felt a chill run down their spines. Although Lin Chuyu had entered the city gate with Meng Hai, she remained filled with doubt. Shilan was clearly not the Green Demon Eagle; how had she transformed into it? 0

No one could provide her with answers. Lin Chuyu could only escape with her confusion. Kong Qi let out a strange cry, and with a swift movement of his eagle-like body and claws, five Sand Bandits screamed in agony as their bodies were severed into pieces. Ji Zichen stood in front of the Sand Bandits, but as the claws swung toward him, he leaped up, kicking one of the Sand Bandits for leverage and darting into the city gate. Mad Bull's bulky frame prevented him from performing light movements. 0

As Kong Qi's claws slaughtered the other Sand Bandits, he crouched low to the ground, narrowly escaping disaster. 0

Having killed several Sand Bandits, Kong Qi appeared extremely exhilarated, seemingly reveling in the thrill of revenge. He howled, "Die! All of you die!" 0

Seeing the situation turn dire, Mad Bull dared not linger and hurriedly made his way into the city. However, upon noticing that Mad Bull was trying to escape, Kong Qi would not allow him to succeed. With a flap of his wings, Kong Qi leaped over the city wall and flew inside. 0

Mad Bull felt utterly humiliated; he had never fled so disgracefully without a fight. He dashed into the main street and spotted a group of Patrolmen approaching the city gate. As he rushed toward them, they noticed someone fleeing in panic during the night and quickly recognized that Mad Bull's size and appearance were anything but innocent. 0

One Patrolman saw Mad Bull charging at him and shouted urgently, "Who goes there! Stop right now!" 0

Mad Bull sneered coldly. Filled with frustration from his cowardly escape, he feared Kong Qi but thought little of this Patrolman. He swung a heavy punch at the Patrolman's face, sending him crashing to the ground as if struck by a boulder. 0

The other Patrolmen witnessed Mad Bull attacking one of their own and quickly drew their weapons. "You scoundrel! Take him down!" 0

Two Patrolmen charged at Mad Bull with their blades drawn. With a powerful swing of his weapon, Mad Bull cleaved through their blades effortlessly. In a swift counterattack, he struck down both Patrolmen before they could react; their heads fell to the ground while the remaining Patrolmen stood frozen in fear. 0

Seeing that the Patrolmen were stunned, Mad Bull seized the opportunity to flee. 0

The captain of the squad was the first to regain his composure and shouted, "What are you all doing? Sound the alarm and pursue him!" 0

One Patrolman removed a gong from his back and began to strike it loudly. Just as the sound echoed through the air, a large shadow descended upon them from above. The Patrolmen looked up and trembled in fear. 0

Kong Qi had completely lost his mind; grinning maniacally, he snarled, "Kill! Kill you all!" 0

Kong Qi, in a frenzy, killed the patrolmen. After she had slain the squad, her face, which bore the features of the Green Demon Eagle, suddenly morphed to reveal Shilan's cheek on the right side. Tears streamed down Shilan's face as she pleaded, "Sister, please stop killing..." 0

Kong Qi's left half, resembling an eagle, widened its eyes in disbelief. "Shilan, how could you...?" 0

With a pitiful cry, Shilan begged, "Have you forgotten about our shared soul? That woman’s death was the price to save you; this is just a side effect." 0

In shock, Kong Qi recalled that their ability to swap appearances stemmed from the fact that when one person died, their soul would attach itself to the living one. They shared a body, and since one body could not contain two souls, it resulted in one face displaying two identities. 0

Seeing that Shilan was now sharing her body, Kong Qi laughed instead of being alarmed. "So I’m already dead? Then let me use your body to unleash my wrath!" 0

Kong Qi's expression shifted dramatically! A previously unseen light ignited in her eyes—one that radiated destruction. "That man! I will kill that man! I will not let him go!" 0

At that moment, Mad Bull had already vanished without a trace. In a fit of rage, Kong Qi demolished nearby houses, causing screams from the residents. She wreaked havoc near the city gates and still felt unsatisfied; her wings flapped as she soared toward the city center. 0

Just as Kong Qi departed, Ji Zichen, Meng Hai, and Lin Chuyu crawled out from the rubble. Meng Hai glanced at the shattered walls and debris; most of the nearby houses had been reduced to ruins. He stood frozen in shock. "It's truly horrific. She has become a real monster, sparing no civilians." 0

Lin Chuyu was equally stunned while Ji Zichen frowned and said, "You see? This is her true nature. Kong Qi cannot bear this fate and refuses to die in vain; thus she accepted whatever force transformed her into a monster. To willingly become a monster speaks volumes of her grief and rage. The Green Demon Eagle is both a symbol of her vengeance and her hatred." 0

"Before Kong Qi died, Mad Bull must have been present; otherwise, she wouldn't have suddenly awakened. Now all that's left for her is slaughter." 0

A strange and complex emotion crossed Lin Chuyu's face as she hesitated before speaking. "I don’t understand Kong Qi well, but I know Shilan. You saw it too; Shilan is desperately trying to stop her. Shilan wants Kong Qi to move past her thirst for revenge—I firmly believe that. So Brother Ji, please help them." 0

Ji Zichen sighed deeply. "I can't help her; I can only stop her. While her plight is sympathetic, I cannot allow her to continue this destruction." 0

Lin Chuyu's heart raced with anxiety. "Brother Ji... are you going to kill them?" 0

The city was in ruins as the Tenth Prince witnessed flames engulfing it from within the palace. Soldiers had already reported the situation to him, igniting his fury. "This damned monster has brought me nothing but shame! Send orders for the Crimson Rhino Battalion to mobilize immediately and eliminate this beast!" 0

Mad Bull aimed for another city gate on the opposite side, hoping to escape through it. As he ran, he could hear continuous screams and the sounds of collapsing buildings behind him. He cursed under his breath, "Wasn't that woman supposed to be dead? How did she become a Green Demon Eagle? Damn it! There's no way I'm dying here!" 0

Ji Zichen showed no intention of leaving; the three of them headed toward the center of town. Along the way, Ji Zichen asked, "Uncle Meng, where's Bifan?" 0

Meng Hai looked southward where everything seemed calm. "You’re only thinking of her now? Don’t worry; she’s at the inn. Look over there; nothing's wrong at the inn." 0

Ji Zichen knew how dangerous it was to stop a mad Green Demon Eagle. "You two go back and take care of Bifan. I can handle this alone," he said. 0

Meng Hai understood what Ji Zichen intended to do and worriedly replied, "Are you planning to use Vortex again? Don't be reckless!" 0

Ji Zichen remained silent, turning his back to the two as he moved forward. Suddenly, Lin Chuyu caught up with him. "I told you not to..." 0

Lin Chuyu interjected, "There's nothing wrong over there. Sister Bifan will be fine. Shilan... Shilan treats me well, and I don't want to run away from here." 0

Seeing that she wouldn't listen, Ji Zichen had no choice but to sternly say, "Staying here won't save her; you'll only watch her die." 0

Lin Chuyu stood still, and Ji Zichen sighed. "Uncle Meng, keep an eye on her. Since you're not leaving either, you'll need to help me later." 0

Meng Hai smiled. "You need help but want to send people away? I really don't know what you're planning. If you're going to do it, then hurry up; every moment wasted means another civilian could die." 0

At that moment, the three fell silent as they rushed toward the center. 0

"Where is he? Where did he run off to?" Kong Qi flapped her wings in the air. "Where did that man go?" Her voice was urgent as she hovered above, her eyes darting around in search of him. 0

Shilan smiled, her lips stretching wide. This wasn't truly Shilan's smile; it was Kong Qi who was smiling because she spotted Mad Bull sprinting down a flower street. The doors on both sides of the street were tightly shut. With a powerful flap of her wings, Kong Qi dove down towards Mad Bull. Before she got close, the wind from her wings shook the lanterns hanging along the street. 0

Mad Bull felt the strange wind approaching but didn't look back as he dashed to the side street, muttering under his breath, "This ghost just won't quit; it's chasing me again! I'm not dying here!" 0

Now that he had been spotted, Kong Qi landed on the rooftop of the side street with a thud, causing the building to collapse just over ten yards away from Mad Bull. Startled, Mad Bull jumped at the sound of debris flying through the air, hitting his cheek and shattering his composure. Seeing Mad Bull flee in panic brought Kong Qi great satisfaction. "Where are you running off to? We should catch up!" 0

Mad Bull's face turned red with anger, but he dared not retort. 0

Kong Qi slammed her palm down several yards behind Mad Bull and shouted, "I told you to stop!" 0

Although her hand struck several yards away without hitting him directly, the force of her palm knocked Mad Bull off balance. He was shocked but stumbled back up and continued fleeing forward. Just as Kong Qi was about to move again, someone called out from over ten yards away, "Shilan!" 0

Kong Qi turned around to see Shilan's familiar half-eagle face. Shilan frowned with concern for Lin Chuyu's safety and said urgently, "You need to leave now; don’t follow us!" 0

Lin Chuyu looked at Shilan's half-eagle face and felt a pang in her heart. "Kong Qi," she said softly, "I can see that you're not truly bad at heart. Please stop; don’t hurt anyone anymore. Do you really want to destroy Qingyang City? This is your home." 0

Shilan gazed blankly at the destroyed house, filled with deep pity. Kong Qi, furious and with nowhere to vent his anger, was abruptly interrupted by Lin Chuyu, which dampened his spirits. He glared fiercely at Lin Chuyu and declared, "This is the real me! A monster stained with blood! When my Kong Family was bullied, did these people ever say a word to help us? They deserve to die!" 0

"I have become a monster! All thanks to these people! I am no longer human! I will tear everyone apart! Including you!" 0

Kong Qi showed no emotion as he swung his sharp claws toward Lin Chuyu. "Get back!" Ji Zichen leaped forward, using the Demon-Slaying Sword to deflect the claws, while Meng Hai stepped in to pull Lin Chuyu back. 0

Seeing Ji Zichen stepping up, Kong Qi sneered, "A broken sword can't kill me! You can die too!" 0

Ji Zichen's gaze darkened as he shouted, "Uncle Meng! Now's our chance!" 0

Meng Hai cracked his whip. "I'll cover you! Ink Feather Vine Whip!" 0

Kong Qi's body was once again ensnared. He roared, "Using the same trick again! Do you think I’ll be trapped by you a second time?" 0

Kong Qi struggled violently, causing Meng Hai's hand gripping the vine whip to ache. "What incredible strength!" 0

Meng Hai shouted, "Hurry up! I can't hold on much longer!" 0

Ji Zichen leaped into the air, aiming the Demon-Slaying Sword at Kong Qi's forehead. "This ends now!" 0

Kong Qi felt a jolt of fear inside. "You little brat!" 0
