Chapter 9 - Divine Alliance Code Pavilion 0

Ji Zichen shouted with great certainty, "No, you take it! Don't let it confuse you! It brought you here to enhance its deception. Grab the Vajra and kill it!" 0

Lin Chuyu recalled the experiences from Jinsi Village, where they had magical tools that were not swayed by fragrant temptations. This memory bolstered her confidence. As she reached for her waist, she grasped the Vajra, her spirit lifting! "Wow!" she exclaimed as the Vajra pierced through the snake's body. The Hook Snake let out a painful and piercing cry. 0

As the Hook Snake cried out in pain, Meng Hai felt a chill run down his spine, for he had seen the Hook Snake. He took down his whip, the Ink Feather Vine Whip! 0

The whip struck the Hook Snake, and upon impact, it transformed into thousands of vine whips that tightly bound the snake from tail to head. Meng Hai's magical tool was the Ink Feather Whip, which could ensnare any object and tear it apart. 0

Seeing the Hook Snake bound, Lin Chuyu pulled the Vajra embedded in its body, severing the snake in two. The Hook Snake let out a choked cry. At that moment, Ji Zichen's vision had returned; he saw Lin Chuyu falling from mid-air and swiftly turned to catch her. "Uncle Meng!" Ji Zichen shouted. 0

Meng Hai responded, "Don't worry! That foul snake is doomed!" 0

Just as Meng Hai was about to pull back the whip to tighten the vines and shatter the snake's body, the Hook Snake realized it was in grave danger. It had to struggle desperately; suddenly, several smaller snakes emerged from its mouth, lunging at Meng Hai with gaping jaws. 0

At that moment, Three Cities Order shouted, "Evil Spirits, you shall not harm anyone!" 0

"Waterbird Divine Technique!" Three Cities Order summoned a Water Ring. As it darkened, dozens of transparent blue waterbirds appeared, pecking at the snakes with their long beaks. In an instant, the snakes were pecked into two pieces. 0

Ji Zichen shielded Lin Chuyu behind him and declared fiercely, "Final strike!" 0

With a flick of his Fire Buddha Bead, a fire dragon emerged and instantly engulfed the Hook Snake. The creature screamed in agony before turning to ash. 0

This was Lin Chuyu's first time witnessing magical tools working together to defeat an enemy. She watched in delight and exclaimed, "Wow... so impressive!" 0

With the death of the Hook Snake, the entire hall rumbled ominously; golden pillars cracked and trembled as if about to collapse. Meng Hai shouted, "This place is going to cave in!" 0

The interior of the stone structure was vast; escaping on foot alone seemed impossible. Ji Zichen activated his Water Buddha Bead while their leader Yu Ren was outside the stone structure. A White Lotus appeared in mid-air, extending a Water Rope into the cave. Just as Yu Ren managed to escape from the hall, he saw that the Water Rope had ensnared their legs. With a swift tug, it pulled everyone away as Lin Chuyu felt the Water Rope pulling her outward while debris from above began to collapse around them. 0

" Ji Zichen " reminded her, "Hold your head! Don't let the shards cut you!" 0

"Lin Chuyu" closed her eyes and hugged her head. In just a few moments, she felt the pulling force disappear. When she slowly opened her eyes, she found herself lying on the ground alone. " Ji Zichen " and "Yu Ren" stood in front of her, while "Meng Hai" was covered in dust and dirt. He grinned and pulled "Lin Chuyu" up, saying, "You were scared, weren't you?" 0

It was then that "Lin Chuyu" understood what " Ji Zichen " had meant that night when they first met. At that time, " Ji Zichen " had said, "Ordinary people would be terrified to hear about the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant, but you seemed so calm." 0

Now, "Lin Chuyu" could finally grasp the meaning behind those words. 0

If the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant was a violent organization, they only needed to use their magical artifacts to conquer cities; there would be few cities that could withstand them. 0

Suddenly, "Lin Chuyu" felt a surge of fear towards " Ji Zichen " and "Yu Ren." It was then that she truly sensed the terror of the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant. 0

The Three Cities Order seemed to have noticed "Lin Chuyu's" thoughts and said, "Are you afraid now? Do you finally understand that the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant is not just a place that sells magical artifacts?" 0

"Meng Hai" stepped forward in agreement, saying, "Lin Chuyu, I believe you now understand why we sealed away the killing artifacts." 0

"Lin Chuyu" nodded seriously. 0

The Three Cities Order stepped closer and said, "Lin Chuyu, this is for you!" 0

The Three Cities Order placed a token in "Lin Chuyu's" hand. She stared at it and asked, "What is this...?" 0

The Three Cities Order replied, "This time it was my oversight that put you in danger. This is a token of the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant. Wherever you go, if you encounter trouble, just show this token and the brothers of the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant will help you." 0

"Lin Chuyu" looked at " Ji Zichen " and asked, "Can I... can I accept this?" 0

" Ji Zichen " chuckled lightly and said, "It's up to you; it's not like it's being given to me." 0

As night fell, Ji Zichen sat by the stone table in the courtyard, gazing at the bright moon. 0

The moon hung low in the west, surrounded by a multitude of stars. 0

The sounds of insects and the wind rose and fell rhythmically around him, full of life. 0

A sense of serene beauty welled up within Ji Zichen; the outside world felt so distant and unreal, while this place was the true essence of "life." 0

Lin Chuyu sat in the guest room, where the furnishings were simple: two chairs, a table, and a large storage cabinet—nothing more. 0

The window was wide open, allowing fresh air to flow freely into the room, carrying with it the essence of The Divine Alliance Under the Covenant. 0

Moonlight poured in without restraint, casting shadows of the trees outside onto the walls and floor, creating an otherworldly beauty. 0

It was a night that required no lamps, yet they were lit. 0

Ji Zichen remained calm and undisturbed, seemingly savoring everything around him. Lin Chuyu noticed Ji Zichen sitting in the courtyard through the windows. She stepped outside; his still figure might have appeared lost in thought to her, but Ji Zichen was simply enjoying the moment. 0

Lin Chuyu approached him from behind. Ji Zichen withdrew his gaze; though he did not turn around, he already knew who was behind him. He said, "We’ll be leaving tomorrow. Why aren’t you resting properly?" 0

Lin Chuyu, filled with concerns, sat down at the stone table. "That large snake is also after the Vermilion Bird Pearl." 0

Ji Zichen replied slowly, "I know." 0

Lin Chuyu felt a chill run through her. "But what does a snake want with the treasures of the ruins and Divine Tears?" 0

Ji Zichen's expression tightened as he said, "The one who wants the relic isn't that snake." 0

Lin Chuyu asked in surprise, "Then who is it?" 0

Ji Zichen replied, "I think it's the woman in the secret passage." 0

"It's her!" 0

Ji Zichen continued, "Aside from her, I can't think of anyone else. She can control the Night Demon, so naturally, she can control that snake." 0

Lin Chuyu's face darkened as she said, "I thought we had shaken them off." 0

Ji Zichen stood up and said, "Shaking them off is impossible. Until we find the relic, they will relentlessly pursue us. You should rest." 0

After taking a couple of steps, Ji Zichen paused and advised, "Next time you hear any noise, don't let your curiosity get the better of you." 0

Lin Chuyu sat there in a daze and replied, "I understand." 0

When Ji Zichen returned outside his room, he saw Meng Hai waiting for him with two jars of wine on the corridor. Meng Hai was sitting on the railing, and as Ji Zichen approached and noticed the jars, he sat down beside Meng Hai and took a sip from one of them. After exhaling a long breath filled with the aroma of wine, he said, "I didn't expect the Three Cities Order to give her the token." 0

Meng Hai smiled slightly and curiously looked at Ji Zichen. "I didn't expect you to blow some wind to give her the Vajra. Isn't that the first magical artifact your master gave you? That artifact means so much to you..." 0

Ji Zichen took another sip of wine and bitterly smiled. "I don't even know why I gave it to her back then. I guess it was just a momentary impulse." 0

Meng Hai laughed heartily, raising his jar of wine. "Come on, let's drink to momentary impulses!" 0

Ji Zichen clinked his cup against another, taking a sip. 0

At that moment, a tall and slender figure approached the two. Though he was tall and thin, he exuded an aura of strength, as if his body were constructed from steel, concealing remarkable power within. One could sense that while he might remain still, once he moved, he would be incredibly swift and agile. 0

His face was long and sharp, with high cheekbones and eyes that sparkled with an unusual brilliance. 0

He wore a smile, as if he had returned home. 0

Suddenly, his gaze collided with Ji Zichen's. Their eyes locked in a fierce exchange, sharp as blades, instantly intertwining. 0

Despite the smile on his face, his tone was devoid of any emotion, sounding like the cold wind of a winter night. He said, "Eight Cities Order, you are here too. It seems both of you are in good spirits." 0

"Qian Feng, why are you out here in the middle of the night instead of staying comfortably in the Regulation Pavilion? Are you looking for the Grand Envoy?" Meng Hai asked sharply, knowing that Qian Feng never came without purpose. 0

Qian Feng remained calm and unhurried, smiling as he replied, "I am here to find the Grand Envoy. I come to convey the decision of the Regulation Pavilion." 0

Meng Hai's heart sank at the thought of how quickly this had come. However, he maintained his composure and asked, "What decision?" 0

Qian Feng's gentle smile remained as he stated, "Grand Envoy, after careful consideration, the Regulation Pavilion has decided to expel you from The Divine Alliance Under the Covenant." 0

Ji Zichen felt as if his world had collapsed in an instant, but his expression remained calm as he took another sip of his drink. The person in charge showed no reaction; however, Meng Hai had already smashed his wine jug and shouted angrily, "What did you say!" 0

Qian Feng shot a sidelong glance at Meng Hai but continued to smile as he said, "The actions of the Grand Envoy have threatened The Divine Alliance Under the Covenant. The Grand Envoy is now a Fugitive named by Corner Lodge and Western King; they have already placed a bounty on your head!" 0

In Fangwen Mansion, Meng Hai's blacksmith was named Chen San. He had gone with two friends to the back mountain of Fangwen Mansion. Known for its abundant bronze resources, Fangwen Mansion was located near Southern Ridge Spring. The spring flowed from both sides of the North Side of Fangwen Mansion's back mountain, creating clear streams that gurgled like pearls and collected into pools. 0

The towering peaks surrounded them, lush with verdant cypress trees. 0

However, at this moment, Chen San did not notice the beautiful scenery, for night had fallen. 0

On this day, Chen San and Yu Ren were in search of bronze. They paused to rest by a clear stream, accompanied by two others named Li Qi and Zhang Ba. Li Qi said, "Brother Chen, we really are lost this time." 0

Zhang Ba chimed in, "I told you earlier; it's easy to get lost in this place." 0

Chen San replied, "It's strange; I often come here. How could I get lost?" 0

Li Qi suggested, "Brother Chen, it's late and we can't see the path. There's no point in rushing; let's find a place to rest for the night and head out tomorrow." 0

Chen San nodded. "It seems we have no other choice." 0

The three crossed the stream and climbed up a high cliff. Under the moonlight, they spotted a large Buddhist Temple. Chen San exclaimed, "When was this Buddhist Temple built here?" 0

The other two had never heard of it either. Zhang Ba said, "Who cares when it was built? It's freezing! Let's just stay here for the night." 0

Li Qi remarked, "I don't know why, but I find this Buddhist Temple eerie." 0

With no other ideas in mind, Chen San said, "We won't leave; we'll rest at the Buddhist Temple for the night." 0

Just as they took a few steps forward, the bright moon was suddenly obscured by something. When the moonlight returned, they saw a Vermilion Bird soaring through the sky. The bird flew over their heads, and a feather fell at Chen San's feet. As he picked up the feather in confusion, darkness enveloped their vision and they fainted. 0
