With Tang Jingshu's help, Xu Nuan quickly bandaged her wounds. After drinking the Antidote and calming her breath, she felt her strength returning, giving her the energy to continue. Only then did she reluctantly look at the five people waiting for her response.
"There’s nothing much to explain," Xu Nuan said calmly, her expression betraying no emotion.
"As the System stated, the only way to exit this game is to clear the levels. Given the circumstances, you shouldn’t be angry about who designed this situation. Just focus on playing the game and strive to survive."
Xu Nuan glanced over the formal attire of a few individuals, ignoring the intense gaze from a man named Gu Ze. She raised an eyebrow slightly as a reminder.
"You should proceed with the challenges like this. Once you clear this level and reach the Supply Station, you can change into clothes suitable for the game."
With that, Xu Nuan hoisted the heavy backpack onto her shoulders again. She had grown accustomed to its weight; it was this burden that gave her the courage to move forward.
Seeing that Xu Nuan intended to leave alone, Deng Yinyin anxiously stopped her. The beads of sweat forming on her forehead revealed her agitation. Her tone was a mix of disdain and pleading, which made Xu Nuan want to laugh.
"Hey, Xu Nuan, we’re all part of the same group here. You might be calm because you entered for the money, but we were forced into this. Considering we’re in this together, shouldn’t you help us out?"
"Deng Yinyin, don’t say that."
Tang Jingshu stepped forward to pull Deng Yinyin back, offering Xu Nuan an apologetic smile.
"Sorry, we’re just a bit panicked and unsure. As newcomers, we would be very grateful if you could assist us."
Xu Nuan paused and looked past Tang Jingshu at the three silent men. One was named Gu Ze; aside from his initial gentleness, he had been staring at her with an intense gaze. Another was Xu Hang; he had unremarkable features but exuded a sense of stability. The last one was Xie Huai; he wore gold-rimmed glasses and appeared thin and timid, almost shrinking back slightly.
With a barely audible sigh, Xu Nuan turned around, her tone unchanged.
"We'll go through this together. I'm in a hurry, so if I've offended anyone, please speak up directly."
Xu Nuan took a couple of steps before stopping again, glancing at the five people following her with an inexplicable tone.
"I need to clarify something in advance: please do not treat this as a Survival Game."
This sudden shift left several of them puzzled. Xie Huai, who had been huddled and observing the surroundings, spoke up with a slight tremor in his voice.
"What should we treat it as then?"
A hint of fear flickered across Xu Nuan's calm expression, quickly fading as her tone grew somber.
"A Death Game."
Those simple four words plunged everyone into silence. In the quiet jungle, the sound of a gentle breeze rustling through the leaves echoed like the grinding of a beast's teeth.
It was Deng Yinyin who broke the tension first.
"Please don't scare us. The System has labeled this as a Survival Game, and it looks like just an ordinary jungle. What we need to do is merely survive in the wild; nothing serious will happen. Your words are going too far."
The others remained silent but seemed to agree with Deng Yinyin's sentiment. Even in a survival-themed Game Base, they were still in a legally governed society of the twenty-first century, where their lives were at least not in immediate danger.
Xu Nuan suddenly smiled, like a night-blooming cereus, elegant and serene, yet reminiscent of a plum blossom in the cold winter, carrying a hint of chill.
"I hope you can think this way in the future too."
