“Why fear that guy? It’s just him; why should we worry?”
On the Sea Vessel, Ken stood angrily on the deck, watching the distant island fade away, his expression filled with reluctance.
The addition of Dragon, along with Queen's persuasion, had led to a temporary ceasefire between both sides.
Soon after, the Northern Fleet and the main Fleet arrived to take Ken and his people away from the island.
At Dragon's request, they had to retreat to twelve nautical miles but were allowed to monitor the area from five nautical miles in the air.
“One person is enough.”
Queen stood beside him, coldly stating, “We must treat him as if he were one of the Four Emperors. Such a powerful figure can change the course of battle. With Kaido not here, we cannot engage him in combat.”
Ken replied coldly, “He’s no match for Kaido.”
“As long as he can kill you, that’s enough for him,” Queen said. “Sabo and Ace are not inferior to us. If he teams up with someone, they could take us down. Do you think the rest can withstand them?”
Dragon, Sabo, and Ace were all incredibly strong and particularly skilled at group attacks.
Especially Ace; once he had the chance to unleash his power, his destructive capability was astonishing.
When Dragon arrived, it signified a shift in the battle's dynamics.
Continuing this fight would lead to casualties on both sides.
However, their side would inevitably lose high-level combatants, while the enemy would only lose ordinary fighters.
"We lost so many people."
Ken said angrily, "First Jack, then my subordinates and so many pirates. Did they die for nothing?"
"Don't be hasty," Queen replied. "Let's fall back for now and wait for Kaido to arrive. We can launch another attack at any time."
"Damn it."
Ken's expression was filled with rage, but he felt helpless. He knew he was no match for Dragon; if Dragon hadn't intervened earlier, he might already be dead.
"Icarus, go monitor from above."
After comforting Ken, Queen issued the command and then halted the Fleet, waiting for Kaido's arrival.
...
"They're gone."
At the edge of the island, Law sat down heavily on the ground, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.
"If it weren't for Mr. Dragon's arrival, we would have failed completely."
Heckler said, still shaken.
If Dragon hadn't come in time, they would have suffered casualties by now. Heckler had reached his limit with Icarus, and Ace was also at a disadvantage. If they died, Sabo's side wouldn't hold out either.
At that point, very few would survive.
"We're here."
Sabo arrived with the Baroque Agent and the injured Cecilia Haku, reuniting everyone once again.
"Where's your ship?"
Dragon stepped away from Luffy and addressed the group, "We need to leave this place."
"Leave?"
Everyone was taken aback by his words.
Heckler said, "The boss is still underwater; we can't leave."
Ace added, "Yeah, what about the boss if we leave?"
"We can't abandon Qiu," Nico Robin said seriously.
Dragon replied, "But if Kaido wins, we won't be able to leave at all."
If Kaido emerged victorious, Dragon would be restrained, and the tide of battle would shift once more.
"Are we just supposed to give up on the boss?" Cecilia said coldly.
"It's not about giving up."
Dragon looked at everyone and asked, "Is there anyone here who can assist Mr. Xia in battle underwater?"
"I can help, but I probably won't be of much use," Eight said, clutching his chest. After a brief struggle underwater, he had sustained some injuries.
Compared to Haku, he could still move, but even if he were uninjured, joining the battle between the two would only lead to his demise.
"Dragon Road," he continued, "we have no way to assist him in his fight against Kaido. We can only leave it to him. If Kaido wins and we stay, we will undoubtedly die."
The others frowned slightly upon hearing this. Heckler asked, "What if he wins?"
"If Mr. Xia defeats Kaido, he will naturally be able to leave at ease."
Dragon replied slowly, "He can breathe underwater; no one can stop him."
"That's right," Christmas added. "If the boss wins, with his strength, even if he encounters Queen and Ken, he can easily triumph. Moreover, he is like a fish in water here; he could destroy the Fleet. Even a single Fleet wouldn't stand a chance against him. Staying here would only disrupt all his plans; leaving is our best option."
"But leaving means we don't trust him," Christmas said. "Are you planning to betray the boss?"
Cecilia said coldly from a distance. Queen and the others had already retreated from the Twelve Seas; they were temporarily safe. Waiting for the boss to arrive was the right choice.
Leaving might seem like a good way for them to survive, but it was really just their concern that the boss might lose.
And losing meant death.
"Exactly," Nico Robin sighed. "If we leave, it's equivalent to giving up on him."
"We're just looking for a way out."
"Dragon Road": "Whether you believe it or not is no longer important; what matters is surviving."
"We can wait a little longer."
Vivi said, "Maybe the outcome will be decided soon."
Dragon sighed and replied, "If a winner is determined, we won't be able to leave."
He continued, "Moreover, I can't stay here for too long. Once the outside world knows I'm here, it could cause quite a stir."
"Your president established Baroque Works not to send you to your deaths," Kera said coldly.
Sabo looked at them and said, "Let's go. If the outcome truly exceeds our expectations, at least we can take revenge."
"Exactly."
Law added, "Baroque Works saved my life and helped me deal with Doflamingo. I owe the president two favors. Even if Mr. Xia fails, we can still seek revenge, but first, we need to recover."
Everyone fell silent as Heckler hoarsely asked, "But if we leave, how will the president find us?"
"We can send you to a designated location. Do you have...?" Dragon looked at Heckler and the others.
"No."
Heckler shook his head, while Nami said beside him, "But for now, you can take us to Dad's place. When the time comes..."
"No need."
Christmas smiled and said, "You all leave here; I'll stay behind alone. Just leave me some food and give me a Transponder Snail. I'll wait for the president to arrive."
"You alone..." Heckler looked at Christmas, a hint of worry in his expression.
Christmas smiled and said, "Don't forget my abilities. Even if they come ashore, they won't be able to find me."
"I'll stay too," Nico Robin said seriously. "I want to wait for Autumn here."
"No, my abilities will be a bit strained with just one person, and it will be very difficult with two. So it's better if I stay here alone."
At this point, Christmas added, "Besides, you hold a significant place in the president's heart. If anything happens to you, he would be extremely angry."
"Then let Christmas stay."
Heckler stood up and said, "Leave the Transponder Snail and the Life Card, along with some food. Everyone else should leave."
"Let's set off now."
