Chapter 212: The Strongest Man
“Dad, I’m back!”
Nami stood in front of Whitebeard, grinning widely.
“Gurala La La.”
Upon seeing Nami, Whitebeard let out a hearty laugh. “Nami, you’ve done well.”
“Hee hee hee.”
Nami stepped aside and said, “These are the members of Baroque Works.”
“Greetings, Captain Whitebeard.”
Heckler stepped forward and bowed slightly, while the others looked at the towering figure of Whitebeard with a hint of awe.
Finally meeting this legendary powerhouse, they had heard countless stories about him.
“He doesn’t look like much,” Whitebeard scoffed. Heckler didn’t dare to respond, and then Whitebeard continued, “What about that Lizard? What’s he sneaking around in the sea for?”
“Old man, who do you think Lizard is?”
Xiaqiu suddenly emerged from the water. With six legs, he stomped on the surface of the sea and propelled himself upward, rising above Moby Dick before crashing down onto the deck with a thunderous thud.
The Moby Dick was long, about one hundred and forty meters, with the back half of the deck consisting of rooms, while the front half was empty, roughly seventy meters long.
Xiaqiu stood there, its ten-meter-long tail exposed, perfectly balanced as it fixed its gaze on Whitebeard.
The strongest man in the world, Edward Newgate.
"Quite a massive figure," Jozu remarked, raising an eyebrow at the sight.
"But what kind of creature is this? It's so ugly."
"So ugly."
Voices echoed around them, and upon hearing this, Xiaqiu suddenly let out a roar.
Boom.
The immense sound carried with it a wave of Conqueror's Haki that swept through the area. While it couldn't knock out the ordinary pirates above like Red could, it was enough to silence them.
"Is that Conqueror's Haki?" Marco exclaimed in shock. "How could a giant beast possess Conqueror's Haki?"
"Very Haki-like," Whitebeard said coldly as he looked at Xiaqiu. "So it's you who made Ace leave the Whitebeard Pirates?"
"That's right, it's me."
"He's now under my command," Xiaqiu said, a grin spreading across his face.
"You have quite the nerve," Whitebeard chuckled, then added, "If you dare to let my son join your ranks, let's see if you truly have the strength to back it up."
With those words, Whitebeard stood up and instantly appeared in front of Xiaqiu, raising his right hand and bringing it down with tremendous force.
"Come at me," Xiaqiu responded, already prepared as Whitebeard rose. He gauged Whitebeard's movements, his six legs alternating to build up power. In an instant, he lunged forward, lowering his body and concentrating all his strength into his head as he charged at Whitebeard.
"Not bad," Whitebeard remarked as his fist connected directly with Xiaqiu's head, producing a resonating sound.
Boom.
The noise erupted suddenly, sending shockwaves radiating outward and knocking people around them to the ground.
"Are they fighting?" Heckler observed the scene, clenching his right fist and readying himself for battle.
Cecilia lifted her right foot, Vivi drew two knives, Christmas gripped his twin guns, Elken raised both fists, and Feng Kelei watched Whitebeard's muscular form with drool pooling in his mouth...
They were ready for battle, while Marco and the others remained calmly watching from the side.
After the impact, both a person and a beast froze in place.
"Not bad strength," Whitebeard said as he instantly disengaged and returned to his seat, then began to cough.
Meanwhile, on the ground, with a thud, Xiaqiu rolled his eyes back and his massive body collapsed, unconscious.
"This..."
Heckler looked at Whitebeard, who waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry, he's fine. He'll wake up after a while. You all should come with us for now; once he wakes up, we can have a proper discussion."
"Don't worry," Nami said cheerfully. "Dad knows what he's doing."
"Then we'll wait for the boss to wake up," Heckler nodded. As long as the boss was not seriously injured, they could afford to wait; after all, the power disparity was too terrifying.
If he decided to fight upon waking, they would have no choice but to join in.
"Let's go," Marco said as he stood up. "We should head back."
“Whitebeard is actually coming to assist?”
Sengoku and Sakazuki looked at each other in confusion upon hearing Kizaru's words.
“That's right.”
Kizaru sat there, crossing his legs and said, “Moby Dick has appeared in the distance, and Marco came to assist. I already have a hard time dealing with him and Ace, so I came back to report.”
Sengoku felt helpless about Kizaru's procrastination, but there was nothing he could do.
Sakazuki added, “The information from Fishman Island indicates that Whitebeard Pirate Crew’s Eighth Division Commander, that Mule, has arrived and rescued Ace. However, I think things are not that simple; we need further information.”
“Then we will have to wait for the investigation results from the World Government,” Sengoku said.
Sakazuki narrowed his eyes and replied, “We'll see then. As long as I can prove my theory, this situation can be fully utilized.”
Sengoku frowned and asked, “Are you still planning to do that?”
Sakazuki responded, “As long as Whitebeard is alive, the chaos of this era will not cease.”
Sengoku snorted, “But the era may become even more chaotic.”
“Yet the Navy will become unprecedentedly strong.”
Sakazuki stood up and said, "The Navy needs to become stronger, and to do that, we need to use people as sacrifices. The remnants of Whitebeard's era are the best targets."
With those words, Sakazuki turned and left the conference room.
"That guy, Akainu."
Sengoku's expression darkened, but he didn't know what to say.
"It seems like something big is going to happen in the future."
Kizaru stood up and said, "But it's almost time to clock out, so I'll be heading back now, Sengoku the Admiral."
Once the room was empty, Sengoku felt a sense of frustration. He realized he could no longer adapt to this era, or perhaps there was no place for him and Whitebeard in the future.
...
"Roar."
Xiaqiu flipped over and got up with a loud shout, immediately spotting a figure not far away.
Whitebeard?
Am I on the Moby Dick?
I remember...
Remembering what happened before losing consciousness, it seemed that I had a confrontation with Whitebeard, and as a result, he knocked me down.
Impressive indeed.
To think that I knocked myself out without using any Devil Fruit abilities.
It's important to note that in terms of physical strength, I would not be inferior to an Admiral right now. Especially considering the impact from my Shave and the collision from my headbutt; the force was so great that even an Admiral would find it difficult to withstand it with just their body. Except for Akainu, neither Kizaru nor Aokiji could block my physical strength.
Yet Whitebeard managed to knock me out with just one punch.
My impact was certainly more than ten times stronger than the collision from the Moby Dick in the original story.
Truly, he is worthy of being called Whitebeard.
"Gu la la la, you woke up after just two hours of being unconscious. You're tougher than I expected," Whitebeard's voice echoed from a distance at just the right moment.
