Chapter One Hundred Eighty-Three: Moonlight Moria
"You can't go past."
Perona stood there, looking at them and saying, "Lord Moria is still asleep, and I will stop you."
"Are you one of Moria's subordinates?"
Heckler suddenly stepped forward and said, "In that case, I'll be your opponent."
With that, Heckler sprang forward, appearing in front of Perona, and threw a punch.
Whoosh.
Perona's body was pierced, yet she remained unharmed.
"Hehehe."
Perona laughed, looking at Heckler and said, "I am the Ghost Princess who ate the Soul-Soul Fruit; you can't touch me."
As she spoke, several ghostly figures reached out to Heckler, and then Perona snapped her fingers.
Boom, boom, boom, boom.
The sound of explosions rang out as Heckler stumbled back to Xiaqiu's side, his clothes tattered but his injuries not too severe. "Sorry, I... I couldn't hit her."
"Such a peculiar ability."
Ace raised his right hand and smiled, "I wonder if you can withstand flames."
"Firearms."
Ace held up his thumb and index finger, bringing the other three fingers together to form a shape resembling firearms, then shook his fingers.
Bang bang bang bang.
Flames shot towards Perona.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh.
These flames pierced through Perona and her spirit, landing on a distant door and igniting it.
"Not effective?"
Ace frowned slightly, feeling a bit troubled.
"A user of the Flame-Flame Fruit?"
Perona raised an eyebrow and looked at Ace, asking, "Are you Fire Fist Ace? The captain of the Whitebeard Second Division? What brings you here?"
"I have temporarily withdrawn from the Whitebeard Pirate Crew," Ace shrugged.
"Is that so? No matter what you came here for, I will defeat you quickly and then extinguish the flames."
Perona glanced at the flames burning behind her, as several spirits rushed toward Ace and Heckler.
Facing the howling ghosts, Heckler sprang into action, disappearing in an instant to evade their assault.
His Two-Step Shave was far faster than the spirits' movements.
Meanwhile, Ace raised his right fist and struck forward.
Boom.
As his arm swung out, it suddenly transformed into a massive fiery fist, engulfing both the souls and Perona in flames.
But it was ineffective.
The fire passed through the ghosts and Perona, directly hitting the large door behind them.
Crash.
The door shattered, and the surrounding walls crackled as they were scorched by the flames, which spread outwards, igniting the ancient castle.
"Damn it."
Perona snorted coldly as her spirits surrounded Ace, lunging toward him.
"It's still useless."
Ace felt a bit troubled, but looking at the spirits, he said coldly, "Even though I can't hurt you, you can't hurt me either."
The spirit passed through Ace's body, and in the next moment, he suddenly knelt on the ground.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what right I have to live as such trash. I deserve to die; I repent."
Ace spoke in a low voice.
"Your destruction is too great; you truly deserve to die."
Perona declared, and countless spirits surrounded Ace before exploding all at once.
Boom, boom, boom, boom.
Ace's head was blown apart, his arms were blown apart, his chest was blown apart, and his legs were blown apart.
Yet the places that had exploded continued to regenerate.
Relying solely on explosions would not harm Ace, unless one used Haki or had a burning ability with a higher temperature, or something that could affect flames, like freezing air or snowflakes.
"Is it useless? A Natural Element User is indeed Trouble."
Perona felt somewhat troubled as she looked at the building behind her engulfed in flames, her expression grim. "I have to go back."
She was a user of the Soul-Soul Fruit, but instead of becoming a spirit herself, she remained corporeal.
However, she could separate her soul from her physical body; the body could not be harmed or moved, while the soul clone would not suffer physical damage.
Perona flew directly backward, and just as she was about to return, Xiaqiu appeared behind her in a flash.
"Huh?"
As Perona turned around, she saw a massive figure looming behind her, and then it charged toward her.
"It's useless; you can't hit me."
Perona smiled, but in the next moment, an immense force struck her.
"That hurts."
Perona felt as if her spirit was being torn apart. She quickly retreated and floated upward.
“Armament Haki can touch.”
Xiaqiu nodded, not pursuing further, allowing her to return.
“Fire Fist Ace, why are you here?”
At that moment, a figure appeared on the Bridge of the mansion, standing nearly seven meters tall with a devilish face.
It was Moonlight Moria.
“I’m here simply because my captain chose you.”
Ace had recovered from his passive state. Looking at Moria, he smiled and said.
“Captain?”
Moria paused slightly, then asked, “Could it be that Whitebeard sent you? Why?”
“Of course not,” Ace replied. “My current captain is him.”
Ace pointed at Xiaqiu in the distance.
"Ha?"
Moria's expression froze for a moment, his face turning angry as he said, "Are you mocking me? I don't care who you are. You killed my subordinates and set my home on fire. I will kill you."
As he spoke, he jumped down from the upper floor. In mid-air, shadows emerged beneath his feet, transforming into massive shadowy birds that cushioned his descent.
"Die."
With a sweep of his right hand, the shadow birds shattered, morphing into a swarm of bats that lunged toward Ace.
"Shadows?"
Ace suddenly opened his mouth wide and exhaled toward the bats in front of him, unleashing a torrent of flames that engulfed the space ahead.
Boom.
The flames consumed the bats, which shattered and fell to the ground.
"I can handle fire."
Ace felt relieved, but in the next moment, the shadows reformed once again, transforming back into bats as they charged at Ace.
"This..."
Ace found himself in a difficult situation as he observed the scene before him.
The shadows had detached from their physical forms and could be attacked; physical strikes were effective. However, once they were hit and fell to the ground, they reverted back to being mere shadows, impossible to eliminate.
"Fire Fist!"
Ace unleashed another punch, engulfing the shadow in front of him.
Yet, he failed to notice that behind him, several shadows were slowly gathering, taking on the form of Moria.
"Shadow Swap."
The shadows transformed into the real Moria, who then reached out his hand toward Ace's shadow.
"Shadow Cut."
Moria grasped Ace's shadow, preparing to pull it up.
But in that instant, a massive figure charged straight at him.
"This is bad."
Moria quickly swapped places with his original position.
Crack.
The shadow was shattered by Xiaqiu, not falling to the ground but exploding instead.
Moria appeared in the distance, looking at Xiaqiu with a hint of lingering fear. "What a powerful beast, capable of instant movement and able to crush my shadow."
"Absolutely perfect."
Moria smiled and said, "Your body and shadow will belong to me, but I won't be your opponent. I'll let someone else deal with you."
Boom.
Xiaqiu crashed into Moria again, but Moria had already released another shadow and vanished into the distance.
"Did he run away?"
Xiaqiu shattered the shadow and shook his head.
"That was dangerous. I didn't expect him to be able to swap shadows; I almost lost mine."
Ace wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"Heart Point."
Xiaqiu looked into the distance and said, "His abilities are quite strange. Let's coordinate and take him down quickly."
"I understand."
Ace nodded, but at that moment, the wall above the mansion exploded, and a massive figure descended, landing right in front of Xiaqiu.
Whoosh.
Xiaqiu had sensed it long ago and immediately dodged to the side. Heckler, who was behind Xiaqiu, hurriedly retreated as well.
The enormous figure stomped down, cracking the ground beneath it, with fissures spreading outwards.
"OZ."
Seeing the giant figure, Xiaqiu raised an eyebrow; Moria actually sent him.
"In that case..."
Heckler looked at OZ, who was carrying him, and raised his right arm to fire at his ankle.
But just as he was about to move, he suddenly lifted his right hand.
Clang.
A long knife struck against his right Gauntlet.
"I'll be your opponent," a Zombie Ronin said, gripping the blade as he stood there.
"Fire Fist."
Ace clenched his fist, intending to unleash it toward Odin, but at that moment, he directed it backward.
The Fire Fist shattered countless shadow bats, which converged and ultimately transformed into Moria's form.
"Ace, I'll take you on."
Moria grinned wickedly as the shadows lunged at Ace once more.
