Chapter 167: Exchange
Swish, swish, swish.
Three Wave Slashes appeared, enveloping Lafitte. However, Lafitte flapped his wings and moved sideways. Just as he landed, Eight lunged forward, delivering three swift strikes.
"Tornado."
The three strikes intertwined, transforming the Wave Slashes into a Tornado that surged toward Lafitte.
"No time to hypnotize."
Lafitte swiftly thrust his longsword downward with his right hand, shattering one of the sword waves, but two more blades were still coming at him.
In the next moment, two white wings suddenly surged forward, launching two Wave Slashes.
Bang! Bang!
The Wave Slashes collided with each other and shattered.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Lafitte flew backward, once again entering a stalemate.
"I need to pick up the pace."
Eight sensed the strength of his opponent; it was formidable. If it had been two years ago when he first arrived at Fishman Island, he would have likely been unable to contend with him.
What about the others from Blackbeard's Pirate Crew? Can they hold their ground?
I must go help them.
With that thought, Eight narrowed his eyes, already having made up his mind. He slashed three times, unleashing three Wave Slashes that transformed into a phoenix, sweeping toward Lafitte.
"Phoenix Wing."
Faced with this attack, Lafitte dodged, but before he could steady himself, Eight was already upon him, three arms slashing out.
Lafitte had been prepared and leaped back.
However, Eight relentlessly pursued him. Taking advantage of Lafitte's moment of adjustment, the other three arms wielding swords continued to strike.
Clang, clang, clang.
Lafitte blocked the three strikes with his sword but felt an ominous sensation.
The force was too light.
In that fleeting moment of hesitation, Eight suddenly opened his mouth and sprayed toward him.
"Ink Cloud."
In the next instant, a dark cloud of ink enveloped Lafitte.
"Not good."
Lafitte understood why he needed to ease his strength; it was merely to restrain him and prepare for the next attack.
Lafitte flew backward, but Eight held onto the blade, and Six Blades swiftly converged, launching six Wave Slashes toward Lafitte.
"Dark Octopus Can."
As Lafitte dodged the edge of the ink, the six Wave Slashes suddenly sliced through the ink and charged at him.
Lafitte retreated, using the sword in his hand to block the Wave Slashes.
Crack, crack.
One by one, the Wave Slashes shattered.
Just as Lafitte destroyed the last Wave Slash, a massive figure appeared behind him.
"Octopus Door."
The Six Blades instantly closed in. Lafitte's expression changed as he spread his wings; the Wave Slashes struck two of the blades.
Then, with a swift thrust of his longsword, he blocked two more blades.
But there were still two blades remaining.
Lafitte was unstoppable.
As the long knife struck his body, a gunshot suddenly rang out.
Bash froze for a moment, hit by a bullet. Then, with a swift motion, he swung the long knife to deflect the second and third bullets.
Lafitte seized this opportunity to thrust his sword forward.
Bang.
Lafitte's left wing was hit, causing him to stagger. He quickly turned and retaliated with his sword, blocking two more bullets.
...
On the other side, Van Auga noticed that Bashas was in an increasingly dire situation but did not assist Heckler because his speed was too great; he might not even be able to hit him.
However, the situation was different on the other side.
When Van Auga realized that Bash had the upper hand from a distance, he suddenly fired three shots at Bash.
In that instant of movement, Christmas reacted and aimed to attack Van Auga.
But at that moment, two apples appeared between them.
Boom.
The bullet from Christmas struck the apple, causing it to explode in a burst of intense flames.
In that instant, Christmas realized the situation and refrained from firing again. Instead, she opened a door in another direction, aiming at Lafitte and fired three shots.
These three bullets forced Lafitte, who was planning to take advantage of the moment to attack Eight, to retreat.
At the same time, she searched for Van Auga again, intending to strike him. However, Van Auga ignored her completely and charged towards Lafitte while shouting, "Switch opponents."
Lafitte immediately fell back and rushed towards Van Auga.
Eight wanted to pursue but Van Auga had already fired his weapon.
Clang, clang.
Eight deflected Van Auga's bullets with two swift strikes of his blades, halting his advance.
Meanwhile, Christmas fired two shots, but Lafitte had already reached behind Van Auga and deftly parried the bullets with his longsword.
As Van Auga moved, he continued to attack Eight.
Eight remained on high alert, carefully monitoring the direction of Van Auga's gunfire to block the incoming bullets.
Lafitte was similarly focused; his single-handed strikes were slightly faster than Eight's but still limited in speed. However, he managed to evade Christmas's attacks by skillfully dodging.
"Then let's attack from behind."
Christmas immediately closed the door and maneuvered through the Interdimensional Space, planning to approach from the side.
But at that moment, Lafitte flew away, darting off into the distance, dodging left and right.
His speed was impressive, and with his constant movement, it was difficult for Christmas to catch up to him, forcing her to open a larger door.
However, once Lafitte determined the direction of her shots, he could easily defend himself.
Whenever Christmas tried to circle around, Lafitte would start running again. In the Interdimensional Space, Christmas simply couldn't outrun Lafitte.
After Van Auga's adjustments, what had originally been an advantage for eight had now turned into a balanced situation for four.
...
"His speed is incredible."
Cecilia watched as Heckler suddenly burst forth with speed, her expression showing surprise.
This speed surpassed her own; in her Half-Orc state, she could only manage a quick dash but couldn't match Heckler's current pace.
It seemed she needed to step up her game; she couldn't let her only advantage slip away.
Just as Cecilia thought this, gunfire rang out. Before she could react, Poison Q's basket suddenly tipped over, sending a portion of apples flying toward Cecilia.
"Um?"
Cecilia immediately lifted her foot and struck, shattering the first apple upon impact, which then exploded.
The explosion of one apple triggered a chain reaction, causing the surrounding apples to detonate.
Cecilia quickly stepped back, creating some distance as she transformed into her Half-Orc form.
"Hehehe."
Poison Q jumped down from his white horse and then unfastened the package on his back, revealing a strange weapon aimed at Cecilia.
...
Heckler relentlessly attacked Bashas, who continuously blocked but was still hit slightly, blood beginning to trickle from the corner of his mouth.
Thud.
Bashas's right leg buckled, and he knelt on one knee.
"This is the moment."
Heckler suddenly appeared ten meters above Bashas's head, his right fist clenched tightly. His right arm bulged as his body weight surged to ten thousand kilograms, crashing down with tremendous force.
"Ten-ton Iron Fist."
The body of Heckler fell from above, crashing down onto Bashas.
"Unsinkable Fleet, elbow strike."
Bashas suddenly stood up, driving his right elbow upward.
Boom.
The fists and elbow collided with each other.
