Chapter 116: The Slash
In the distance, a ship approached across the ocean, and on its deck stood a figure.
He was a towering man, over two meters tall, dressed in a black open-front long coat adorned with white patterns and yellow edges. He wore training pants, with strips of cloth wrapped around his legs.
A white cloth was tied around his waist, his head was bare, and his muscular arms exuded an aura of strength.
"They're here."
Nico Robin's voice rang out as she watched the ship draw closer, her eyes narrowing.
"Is that him?"
Xiaqiu propped herself up, gazing into the distance with a lively expression; this was the target she was meant to eliminate.
"His strength is formidable. Heart Point. Do not initiate an attack."
Nico Robin said softly, "If he disagrees with our actions, we will wait until he enters the sea before taking him down."
"Understood."
Xiaqiu nodded, suppressing her urge to attack.
The sea vessel gradually approached the coast. Once it was close enough, Daz Bonis leaped from the bow of the ship and landed steadily on the ground.
Nico Robin took a small step back, positioning herself beside Xiaqiu's head, her hands clasped behind her back.
Daz Bonis walked toward them step by step until he stood before Nico Robin and said gently, "Vice President."
"Just call me by my code name," Nico Robin said with a light laugh.
Daz Bonis nodded, then looked around curiously and asked, "Why did you choose to meet here, issa11sunday?"
This was a deserted island near Alabasta, quite remote and uninhabited.
Nico Robin smiled and said, "I wonder if you've heard any news about my identity."
"Of course."
Daz Bonis looked at Nico Robin and said, "Nico Robin, the Demon Child, who just killed one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Crocodile."
Nico Robin sighed and replied, "The Navy is tracking my whereabouts; I can't meet you in Alabasta."
"I understand."
Daz Bonis nodded and curiously asked, "Am I the only one who came?"
Nico Robin confirmed, "That's right. The only person I'm looking for is you."
Daz Bonis asked with curiosity, "What is it that issa11sunday wants to instruct me?"
Nico Robin looked at Daz Bonis and explained, "Because of Crocodile's death, the second phase of the Ideal Nation plan can begin. So r will temporarily not be distracted by Baroque Works. Moreover, I've exposed my whereabouts; most members of Baroque Works have recognized me, and I am the only one who knows who r is. This could potentially affect him. Therefore, starting today, I will be responsible for all matters concerning Baroque Works, including conveying orders and arranging missions."
"Are you saying that r won't give me orders anymore? You'll be the one to relay mission information?" Daz Bonis asked as he looked at Nico Robin.
Nico Robin nodded and said, "That's correct. r will focus entirely on the Ideal Country Project from now on, so you will need to follow my commands."
Nico Robin intended to directly transfer r's authority.
One reason Nico Robin could not approach Alabasta now was that she dared not delve deeper into the situation. Among those she could interact with, there was no suitable candidate to disguise herself as.
The second reason was that she wanted to test the other party.
As the longest-serving member of Baroque Works, his strength was second only to Crocodile, and he had always held the first position in the serial number since joining Baroque Works.
So, did he know Crocodile? Was there another way to contact him?
Thus, she did not engage in pleasantries but instead commanded him directly. If he was unwilling, she would find an opportunity to eliminate him.
When Nico Robin planned to test him and regarded him as Trouble, she would subconsciously harbor doubts about him.
Therefore, she would use a more trustworthy approach to assess him.
Daz Bonis shook his head and said, "Sorry, issa11sunday. From the moment I joined Baroque Works, I could only accept direct orders from him, whether by phone or written instructions. He even told me that he would never let anyone else convey his commands."
Upon hearing this, Nico Robin's heart skipped a beat, but she maintained her composure and replied, "I certainly understand that. But the situation is different now; he has no intention of managing Baroque Works. Moreover, I have personally delivered commands before."
"But when you provided me with the plan, he used a Transponder Snail to notify me and shared the agreed-upon code."
Daz Bonis looked at Nico Robin and said, "So, I will only follow his orders and will not heed anyone else's commands."
"Is that so?"
Nico Robin raised an eyebrow and asked, "What if I have him contact you personally?"
"That works."
Daz Bonis nodded and then added, "As long as he gives me the order."
"Then you should go back."
Nico Robin waved her hand and said, "I will go find R."
"Alright."
Daz Bonis turned around and walked towards the B Ship.
Nico Robin glanced at Xiaqiu and nodded slightly.
Xiaqiu immediately understood, planning to wait until he entered the sea before striking him down.
However, just as Daz Bonis reached the edge of the Sea Vessel, he suddenly raised his hand and slashed forward.
With a whoosh.
In the next moment, a crack appeared on the B Pirate Ship's front, slowly splitting apart into two halves.
"Hmm?"
Nico Robin's expression changed abruptly as she looked at Daz Bonis in confusion.
Xiaqiu immediately stood up straight, staring intently at Daz Bonis.
Swish, swish, swish.
Daz Bonis grasped the air with both hands; before the Pirate Ship could fall, the entire vessel suddenly transformed into countless small cubes, densely packed together.
Inside, everyone had turned into shattered corpses.
"A sea vessel was shattered into pieces." Nico Robin was astonished, a wave of panic washing over her; such destructive power was completely beyond her imagination.
"Indeed, it's quite strong."
Xiaqiu wasn't as alarmed. In the original story, he had sliced through multiple floors that Zoro had thrown at him, so cutting apart a pirate ship was naturally not a problem.
But he was different. The impact toughness and fracture toughness of fish scales were stronger than iron, with hardness surpassing that of rock. His muscles were robust, and his bones were as resilient as alloy.
The harpoon capable of piercing a sea beast's skull merely left a fine crack on Xiaqiu.
Unless one could slice through iron, their attacks would not inflict significant damage on him.
"What are you doing?" Nico Robin squinted and asked.
"Destroying the ship, so that when I kill you later, I won't be interrupted by them," Daz Bonis replied lightly, his gaze somewhat indifferent.
"Why do you want to kill us?" Nico Robin asked with a grim expression.
Daz Bonis said, "Because he cannot allow anyone to command me. Even if he dies, if I am not contacted for a while, I will leave on my own. But if someone tries to command me, it means rebellion, and traitors must be killed."
"Is that so?"
Nico Robin couldn't help but clench her right hand. She had anticipated this outcome but hadn't expected him to be this strong.
Even if his physical attributes were better than Feng's, combined with the abilities of the Swift Slash Fruit, she felt confident that she and Qiu could defeat him on solid ground.
But now, his performance left Nico Robin with not a shred of confidence.
In that instant, Xiaqiu suddenly charged forward, opening its mouth wide to bite.
"I've killed countless beasts like you."
Daz Bonis snorted coldly, crossing his arms and striking forward.
The edges of his arms transformed into blades, and with a swing, two Wave Slashes shot out.
Such Wave Slashes could cleave a beast in two.
Daz Bonis anticipated that Xiaqiu would be split in half by him.
Clang, clang.
But with the sound of impact, the two Wave Slashes struck Xiaqiu's teeth, leaving two fine marks on the surface but causing no significant damage at all.
How could this be?
Daz Bonis was momentarily stunned, unable to believe it.
"My teeth are the hardest part of me."
Xiaqiu sneered.
Teeth are the hardest parts of the body; enamel has an extremely high hardness, rated at 7 on the Mohs scale, close to quartz and topaz.
Moreover, Xiaqiu's teeth had been reinforced countless times, making them incredibly resilient.
Especially the sharp teeth in the front row, resembling those of a Tiger Fish, are incredibly hard and possess excellent strength and toughness, akin to Tungsten Steel with a Mohs Hardness of 9, even surpassing that of steel.
While they may not match the hardness of diamonds, their toughness is far superior.
Your Wave Slash cannot break my teeth.
Xiaqiu hesitated slightly but continued to charge forward, aiming to bite Daz Bonis.
"Those teeth are tough; attack elsewhere."
Daz Bonis thought as he swiftly dodged Xiaqiu's attack and prepared to strike from the side.
Xiaqiu's scales are highly resilient but lack hardness, unable to fully withstand Daz Bonis's Wave Slash.
Just a few strikes to Xiaqiu's neck would leave him severely injured.
However, Daz Bonis did not manage to evade.
Arms emerged from the ground and reached out from behind him, grabbing his feet and locking his joints.
With a swift motion, Daz Bonis transformed his body into a blade, instantly slicing through those arms.
"Ah!"
In the distance, Nico Robin's expression changed dramatically, but she gritted her teeth and waved her hands.
"Forty Flower Wheels, Two Trees."
Two massive arms swung toward Daz Bonis.
Thud, thud.
Daz Bonis waved his hands, and the Wave Slash flew horizontally, slicing into Nico Robin's palm and advancing toward her wrist before abruptly stopping.
The arms that Nico Robin had grown were as strong as her original body. Although her original form was relatively weak, she could lift hundreds of pounds without issue before her training.
Now, they were even more resilient. The enormous tree formed by the convergence of twenty arms barely managed to withstand Daz Bonis's Wave Slash.
Thud.
But in the next moment, from a distance, Nico Robin's palm split open, blood flowing freely from the wound.
"Ah."
A piercing pain surged through her, causing Nico Robin's arm to tremble violently.
When a clone was injured, the original body felt all the pain and also received part of the injury's impact.
Nico Robin now felt as if her arms had been severed, excruciating pain radiating through her body and causing it to twitch slightly.
However, Nico Robin's two attacks had restricted Daz Bonis's movements.
Crack.
Xiaqiu swooped down and bit down on Daz Bonis.
"Get away from me."
Daz Bonis raised his hand, transforming his arm into a blade to block Xiaqiu's teeth.
Creak, creak, creak.
However, it was of no use; the immense biting force, combined with the sturdy teeth, bent Daz Bonis's arm as if it were made of rubber.
"Spiral Slash."
His arm suddenly morphed into a rotating blade, layers of circular blades appearing around him.
Crack.
But in the next moment, his arm shattered into pieces.
As his arm broke apart, Daz leaned back, and Xiaqiu's mouth snapped shut, grazing past his body.
Puff puff puff.
"Run!"
Daz's legs transformed into long blades, slicing through Nico Robin's arms. Her original arms sustained more and more wounds, blood gushing forth and turning her entire arms a deep crimson.
Yet she did not give up, continuously sprouting new arms to block Daz Bonis's escape.
Xiaqiu opened its mouth again, lunging at him.
"Ah."
This time Daz Bonis was unable to dodge and was bitten squarely.
Crunch, crunch.
Daz Bonis's head was bitten off, his body’s blade vanished without a trace as he fell, twitching.
Finally killed.
Seeing this scene, Xiaqiu let out a breath and spat the head aside.
His gums were cut open, blood oozing out; the injury was minor, just a slight wound.
It was still relatively easy.
Thud.
In the distance, Nico Robin collapsed heavily to the ground, her arms covered in blood, her face contorted in pain.
Such severe injuries.
She had sustained such wounds while desperately blocking Daz Bonis.
The reason he had it so easy was that Nico Robin had held him back, preventing his escape.
If he had managed to flee, Xiaqiu would have had no choice but to run away.
"Quickly."
Xiaqiu hurried over and knelt beside her, hoping she would get up so he could take her for treatment.
"Mm."
Nico Robin climbed onto Xiaqiu's back as Xiaqiu lifted its body and ran toward the coast, biting down on Daz Bonis's corpse before plunging into the sea.
The waves crashed and churned.
Xiaqiu swam powerfully into the distance, carrying Nico Robin toward the port city of Alabasta, Canola Flower.
