Chapter One Hundred and Five: An Unexpected Encounter
"What on earth is going on, so mysterious?"
After seven, Nami followed Aken toward the Coast. As they approached, Nami suddenly froze in place.
The Coast was filled with people, but what surprised Nami was not the crowd, but what was on the sea.
"What is this?"
Nami hurriedly ran through the crowd to the shore, staring blankly ahead.
There, on the surface of the sea, a sea vessel was docked. It was about twenty meters long and six meters wide, shaped like an orange with a windmill perched on top.
"This is your gift for going out to sea. What do you think?" Aken stood at the front of the villagers, smiling.
"This is for me?" Nami blinked in surprise and then asked, "But this ship must have cost a lot of money, right?"
She had refrained from buying a large sea vessel for two reasons: first, her savings were insufficient; she didn't have enough money to buy a sea vessel.
The second reason was that she was currently operating in East Blue; with her current ship, it was sufficient for now.
In three years' time, when the agreed period was up and she received money from her friend, she would look for an opportunity to head to the Grand Line and find a larger ship.
But she never expected that the villagers would gift her a ship.
"Each household contributed a little, and it was enough."
Aken smiled and said, "This is our heartfelt gesture, representing us. We may not be able to go out to sea ourselves, but we can still accompany you in spirit."
"Everyone."
Nami's eyes were a bit red.
"Don't refuse. Five years ago, you joined the Evil Dragon Pirate Crew at just ten years old, solely to save the village, quietly giving your all."
Aken said seriously, "Today, let's support your dream."
Nami hesitated, "But..."
"Nami, accept this ship."
"Without Arlong around, we've saved quite a bit of money."
"That's right, it's not much."
Aken added, "After Arlong was captured, a lot of treasure was discovered. Brigadier Blinblin returned some to us. We pooled our resources and asked Marcel to buy this ship for you through the Merchant Association. We even contacted the shipyard for some temporary modifications before delivering it today."
"Thank you."
Listening to the voices around her, Nami wiped away her tears and said, "Okay, I accept. I will sail this ship and fulfill my dream."
"Nami, why don't you give this ship a name?" Marcel said with a smile.
"A name?"
Nami thought for a moment and gently said, "The ship is an orange, and there's a windmill, so let's call it Orange Windmill."
“Orange Windmill? That name is a bit simple, but it's sufficient,” Dr. Naga said with a smile.
“Come on board and take a look.”
“Yes, yes, hurry up and get on the ship.”
Amidst the crowd, Nami boarded the Sea Vessel, exploring it and feeling quite satisfied with the ship.
This vessel was more than capable of setting sail.
With the new ship allowing for more supplies, Nami took some extra time to prepare.
Three hours later, Nami planned to depart, while the villagers and Brook loaded the prepared items onto the ship.
Standing on the shore, Nami hugged everyone one by one before boarding the Sea Vessel, waving to them, “Goodbye, everyone.”
Brook swiftly raised the sails with his six arms and then took control of the helm as the Orange Windmill slowly set sail.
“Goodbye.”
The people on the shore waved at Nami, watching as the Sea Vessel gradually drifted away.
But suddenly, a voice rang out, “Where's my wallet?”
“My wallet is missing too!”
“It must be Nami.”
"This thieving cat, we bought her a ship, and she still steals our things."
The crowd cursed Nami, but smiles lingered on their faces.
...
"It's so hot, and we're out of water. We need to find an island to dock."
On the East Sea, Ace sat on a ship wearing a hat, tilting his head back to pour from his water bottle, but nothing came out.
"Where can I find water?"
Ace gazed at the vast ocean, with no sign of an island in sight. He pulled out a map and then a compass.
"Ah, there's an island called Zoumeida Island not far from Loguetown, but it's still quite a distance away. Just hold on until we get there."
As Ace contemplated heading to Zoumeida Island, he spotted a sea vessel in the distance, sailing at an angle toward another direction.
"A ship."
Ace's eyes lit up. "We can borrow some water."
He quickly adjusted the sails, steering the ship toward the distant sea vessel.
As they drew closer, Ace saw the sea vessel was shaped like an orange, with a windmill spinning wildly atop it as the ship moved forward.
"This ship looks quite peculiar."
Ace slowly approached the vessel, where a young girl was perched on the railing.
The girl was quite young, probably only around fifteen years old, but she was very beautiful, with golden hair and striking eyes that were curiously fixed on him.
"Hi."
Ace moved closer to the Sea Vessel and said to the girl, "Hello, could you please ask your guardian to come out?"
"Guardian?"
The girl smiled and replied, "There's no need to look for anyone else; I am the captain of this ship. You can talk to me."
"Captain?"
Ace was slightly taken aback and asked the girl, "You are the captain of this ship?"
"Of course! This Orange Windmill is my ship," the girl said proudly.
"Really?"
Ace seemed a bit skeptical and remarked, "You don't look very old."
"You don't look much older than me," the girl retorted. "If there's nothing else, I'm going back."
"Oh, I want to borrow some Fresh Water from you. We're out of water on the ship," Ace said, shaking the water bottle.
"Alright."
The girl nodded and shouted into the distance, "Ba, stop the ship."
"Got it."
The vessel slowly came to a halt. The girl looked at Ace and said, "Hand me the water bottle."
"Oh."
Ace raised his hand, picked up all the water bottles on the ship, and handed them over.
The girl stretched her hand with all her might, but there was still a gap she couldn't reach.
Whoosh.
Suddenly, Ace stepped firmly on the deck and leaped onto the ship's railing.
"Here you go."
Ace passed the water bottle and pouch to the girl, smiling as he said, "If you can, please fill it up for me."
"Sure."
The girl nodded and disappeared from the deck with the water bottle and pouch.
"What is that?"
Ace jumped off the ship and stood on the deck, suddenly narrowing his eyes as he looked toward the position of the mast, where a Fishman with six arms was busy handling the sails.
"A Fishman?" Ace asked in surprise.
"Hello, I'm Eight," the Octopus Fishman greeted with a smile.
"This is my first time seeing one," Ace said, somewhat astonished. He glanced around and noticed that it was just him and a girl on board, so he curiously asked, "Is it just you two on this vessel?"
Eight nodded and replied, "It's just me and Nami."
"Only two people on such a big ship?" Ace was taken aback. The ship was over twenty meters long; at least five or six people would be needed to maintain steady sailing and handle emergencies.
However, this Fishman had six arms, and Fishmen were known for their strength, so one person could manage lowering sails and steering.
Still, having just a Fishman and a girl on a ship seemed a bit odd.
"What is your relationship? What are you doing?" Ace asked curiously.
"I'm the crew member, and Nami is the captain."
After lowering the sails, Ba wrapped the ropes to one side and said, "We are charting the sea map, the map of the East Sea."
"Are you a navigator?" Ace asked, intrigued.
Ba shook his head. "I'm not the navigator; Nami is."
"That girl?" Ace's eyes widened.
"Nonsense," Ba replied. "Don't underestimate her; her navigation skills are better than many navigators in the Grand Line."
"Better than Grand Line navigators?"
Ace's eyes widened further as he asked, "Are you sure?"
"Of course."
Ba patted his chest and said, "I used to be a member of the Sun Pirates, sailing alongside Tiger. Even in the Grand Line, it's rare to find a navigator like her."
"Sun Pirates?"
Ace had indeed heard that name before. One of the former captains of the Sun Pirates was none other than Jinbei, one of the current Seven Warlords of the Sea.
This news had caused quite a stir six years ago, hailed as a model for racial peace and a typical example of coexistence between humans and the Fishmen Tribe.
"You were actually a member of the Sun Pirates?"
Ace's gaze fell on Ba's waist as he asked, "Are you a swordsman?"
"Of course."
Eight proudly declared, "I am the Second Swordsman from Fishman Island."
"Fishman Island? The island where Jinbei, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, is from?" Ace's eyes widened in surprise, then he fell into deep thought.
"Your water."
At that moment, Nami came up with a water jug and handed it to Ace.
"I don't need the jug," Ace suddenly said.
"What's wrong?" Nami looked at him in confusion.
Ace grinned, revealing a set of white teeth, and said, "Actually, I have something else I want even more."
"Join me as my companion. Nami, Eight."
