Chapter One Hundred and Three: Changes
The cargo ship was laden with many goods; aside from the crew's supplies, most of the cargo remained on board, all of it consisting of alcoholic beverages.
Nico Robin first used her Devil Fruit ability to move the alcohol down, which amounted to over a dozen boxes filled with beer, wine, rum, and whiskey.
After unloading the alcohol, Nico Robin began to take out the items inside.
There were bed frames, food, fresh water, fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea leaves, tables, chairs, bedding and blankets, clothes, cups, pots and pans, umbrellas, seasonings, medicines, paper and pens, books, maps, compasses, and even the sails were dismantled by Nico Robin.
Most of the food and fresh water had been consumed during sailing, but what remained could sustain Nico Robin for quite a while; some cured meats could last a long time.
The vegetables and fruits were scarce and had a shorter shelf life; some were already rotting.
There was only a small amount of coffee and tea leaves, and the medicines were also limited.
In addition to these items, there were also entertainment goods like poker and checkers.
Nico Robin transported all these goods to the shore, placing some items inside the house.
By evening, Nico Robin had finished everything and approached the shore. She clapped her hands and said, "Black, this ship is about done. It's up to you to take care of the rest."
"Okay."
Xiaqiu dragged the ship out to a distant part of the sea. He bumped into it a couple of times until the sea vessel fell apart and slowly sank.
Afterward, he returned to the shore where Nico Robin had changed into a softer coarse linen outfit. It fit her well in length but was somewhat baggy.
Nico Robin was quite tall, standing at one meter. She was taller than both Zoro and Sanji. Before Franky joined in Water Seven, she had always been the tallest member of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Afterward, she joined by Franky, Brook, and Jinbei, each taller than the last.
However, while Nico Robin is tall, her figure is quite slender, with a bust size of only 6. She and Nami, two years later, both have similar cup sizes, which means her underbust measurement is only 675, which is somewhat unusual.
But a waist size of 6 is quite extreme.
For a woman who is 1.6 meters tall, a waist measurement above 60 centimeters is more normal; at 188 centimeters tall, one would expect a waist size above 7.
The Empress stands at 191 centimeters with measurements of 91, while Nami is 170 centimeters with measurements of 88; their waist sizes are both excessive. Aside from Nami, whose hip measurement is relatively normal, the others are also on the larger side.
This trend continues with other female characters as well; their waists are drawn quite slim, and since the women in One Piece are generally taller, this further emphasizes the point.
This clearly demonstrates that Oda has a preference for tall women with large busts and slim waists.
"For now, there’s nothing else needed."
Nico Robin set up a chair and table, heated fresh water from the ship in a pot, then brewed some coffee she had found. She poured it into a thermos and then into a cup.
Sitting at the table with her legs crossed, she held the coffee in her right hand and took a sip.
Next to her was a box containing several pieces of flaky pastries and some dried persimmons.
In the distance, the sun began to set, casting golden rays across the ocean.
At this moment, Nico Robin was enveloped in sunlight; although dressed simply, she exuded an air of elegance.
This elegance was not crafted through beauty or behavior but radiated from within—a reflection of her attitude toward life.
She was able to survive strongly in difficult environments while also finding joy amidst hardship, maintaining a longing for life.
What an outstanding woman she was.
Xiaqiu shook her head and slowly submerged into the ocean, resting at the seabed.
After acquiring these items, Nico Robin's standard of living improved significantly. She built another house to store her belongings.
Once the fresh water on the ship ran out, she boiled water from the island in a pot, ensuring that most bacteria and parasites were killed.
She constructed a bed from planks, covered it with bedding, and even had a pillow to sleep on.
Her clothes could be washed, and she had some soap to clean herself.
During meals, she could add some seasonings to avoid monotony.
Vegetables and fruits, as well as coffee and tea, were quickly consumed, but she planted the roots of the vegetables and the seeds of the fruits, although those attempts failed.
Nico Robin's life was somewhat dull, but it met her basic needs.
At the same time, she began teaching Xiaqiu knowledge as agreed upon.
Starting with biology and geography, she shared everything she knew with Xiaqiu and even drew pictures in a notebook.
She also covered history; aside from the blank century, she introduced world history and recounted the histories of certain countries she was familiar with to Xiaqiu.
In addition, she spoke about the works of this world, introducing some cultural figures, and recited books obtained from the Cargo Ship.
The information about the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the Four Emperors, Devil Fruits, the World Government, the Navy, and the Revolutionary Army was all meticulously shared with Xiaqiu.
Under her narration, Xiaqiu's understanding of this world deepened. This information would be very useful for her future, and more importantly, it was fascinating.
Just receiving the information itself was enough to excite Xiaqiu, and she could interact with Nico Robin.
Compared to the previous six years, Xiaqiu was no longer lonely; her life had been completely transformed.
To repay Nico Robin, Xiaqiu stole a ship every three months.
In six months, Xiaqiu had stolen two Cargo Ships—one filled with miscellaneous items and another with flour. The ship loaded with miscellaneous items contained coffee and tea leaves, including Nico Robin's favorite black tea.
During these six months, Xiaqiu maintained a steady diet of crocodile meat and finally began to see changes.
Her Pectoral Fins, Pelvic Fins, and tail fin bases had become robust and gradually lengthened to over a meter long, while the tips remained as fish fins.
She now had a total of six legs.
Not just the four legs of a crocodile, but six—located on her chest, abdomen, and rear.
Initially, Xiaqiu worried that if her Pelvic Fins and Pectoral Fins evolved too much, her hind limbs would develop into her abdomen, leaving her back half dragging along.
But now it seemed that having six legs would provide better support and greater speed.
It was certain that she could not support her body solely with her back half.
This change was not based on the number of fish fins on Xiaqiu's lower body evolving; after all, Pectoral Fins and Pelvic Fins were equivalent to limbs, while the tail fin had little relation to evolving limbs.
It should have been after consuming the Coelacanth near Narl Island that every fin began to grow a base. Now, having eaten a crocodile, it has developed legs from the base and spine as its core for growth.
It is quite powerful.
The legs that have grown are still short, but they pulse with immense strength, supported by robust muscles and hard bones, providing enough power.
Xiaqiu swings its legs; combined with the fins, it can generate even greater force. However, the Pectoral Fin is too large, making it somewhat troublesome to maneuver.
As long as the fins can transform into claws and develop joints, it will be able to come ashore.
This should take less than two years.
Xiaqiu looks forward to that moment.
