Chapter Seventy-Five: Lionheart Pirates
"A pirate ship is approaching!"
On the island, near the harbor, there was a watchtower where a young man stood. Upon spotting the pirate crew, he picked up a horn and blew into it.
Wooooo.
As the sound of the horn echoed, the townspeople of the island began to stir, emerging from their homes and gathering at the town entrance.
Among the crowd, a burly elder stepped forward and shouted, "Werner, take that stinky oak torch and lead the elders and children to the cave at the foot of the mountain."
"Aisley, gather everyone to move all the oak boats to the back mountain and drive the Sea Serpent forward."
"Bill, you take charge of the cannons and aim them at the sea. When the Sea Serpent arrives and they show signs of weakness in battle, fire at them."
"The rest of you, grab your firearms and weapons and follow me to confront them."
"Be cautious. If the Sea Serpent is easily killed by them, do not attack. We will negotiate."
Once the burly elder finished speaking, the villagers began to spring into action.
...
"Captain Leon, we will reach the island in five minutes at most."
Onboard the massive lion warship, a plump man shouted as he gripped the helm tightly.
"Record the first magnetism point captured by our instruments. It seems this is one of the starting points for one of the routes in the Grand Line's Seven Routes."
Not far behind the helmsman stood a towering figure, about six feet three inches tall with bulging muscles—Leon, captain of the Lionheart Pirates.
He looked at the distant island, smiling as he said, "Our journey through the Grand Line as the Lionheart Pirates is about to begin here."
"The island doesn't look very big. Hehehe, I wonder if there are any strong characters on it," said a man with short white hair, dressed in a black coat, arms crossed and two curved swords hanging at his waist.
"We still need to be cautious; after all, this is the Grand Line."
Leon waved his hand and declared, "Everyone, prepare for battle."
The fighters of the Lionheart Pirates immediately grabbed their weapons and gathered by the ship's railing, waiting for the ship to approach the island.
But in the next moment, with a loud crash, the Pirate Ship shook violently.
"What’s happening? Did we hit a reef?"
Leon furrowed his brow. The ship rocked violently, yet he seemed undisturbed as he strode toward the railing. Looking down, he saw nothing beneath the waves.
"Over there! It's a sea fish—a gigantic Black Fish!" The White Man stood on the other side, gazing into the distance where a massive Black Fish was charging toward them underwater.
"A fish over forty meters long won't sink our ship. No need to worry. Raise two more sails and head toward the island," Leon said nonchalantly.
But just then, a Boatman rushed out from below deck, shouting loudly, "Captain, we're taking on water!"
"Taking on water? Are you sure? Did we get our ship wrecked by that fish?" Leon frowned and replied, "This ship is made from ironwood from the South Sea; how could it be damaged by a sea fish?"
"And three compartments are damaged. If we take two more hits like this, our ship will sink," the Boatman yelled.
"That can't be possible."
Just recently, this ship had been rammed by a ten-meter dolphin and had come out unscathed.
The sea fish appeared to be less than fifty meters long, and yet it had already smashed through three compartments.
Boom.
The ship was struck again, trembling violently.
"Damn it, you take a team to patch up the compartments. The rest of you get ready to fire the Spear Gun," Leon shouted, stepping aside to grip the massive Crossbow. He asked, "Where is the sea fish now?"
"It's at the Port," a soldier replied. Leon immediately pushed the Crossbow toward the Port position, gazing out at the surface of the sea.
A gigantic Black Fish was charging toward them, its head skimming the water's surface.
Perfect.
Leon adjusted the Crossbow, aiming at the Black Fish.
The enormous Crossbow had bolts that were one and a half meters long, with heads made of steel. With the power of four bowstrings, it could pierce through walls.
Even the head of a Sea Beast would not withstand a Crossbow Bolt.
Moreover, the back of the bolt's head featured fine barbs; once it pierced, it would firmly latch onto its target, making it impossible for the bolt to come loose.
"Die," Leon said as he slightly pressed down on the mechanism and suddenly pulled the massive trigger.
Clang.
A massive Crossbow Bolt shot toward the distant Water Surface, aimed directly at the mouth of the Black Fish. However, the Black Fish continued to advance, and the bolt could penetrate its skull, driving straight through the bone and into its brain.
But in the next moment, the sea creature suddenly lifted its head.
Clang.
The enormous arrow struck the forehead of the sea fish, where a large horn produced a resounding noise.
"Got it."
Leon swung his hand suddenly, knowing that the opponent was in dire straits.
Yet in the next instant, with a plop, the arrow slowly slid from Xiaqiu's head and fell into the sea, while the sea fish charged forward once more.
"Too light."
Xiaqiu opened its mouth wide, revealing its fearsome teeth. The massive arrow had hit its forehead, precisely at the location of its horn.
Through continuous evolution, Xiaqiu's horn had grown larger and larger, resembling a combination of a Sperm Whale and an Arowana's forehead.
It protruded above the upper jaw, forming an arc that flattened out as it extended over its head.
The arc was less pronounced than that of an Arowana but rounder than that of a Sperm Whale.
The outer layer of the horn was covered in scales, beneath which lay muscle, and further down was a thick layer of hard bone.
After being struck, Xiaqiu's horn dented inward. For a brief moment, it held firm before shattering into pieces.
The arrow continued to strike, breaking through muscle; however, the tough muscle absorbed much of the force, preventing the arrow from advancing further.
Having penetrated only an inch, the arrow was halted, with more muscle behind it and not even touching the hard bone.
The arrows capable of piercing the Sea Beast's skull only managed to damage the outer layers of scales and flesh on Xiaqiu.
Boom.
Xiaqiu continued its charge toward the Pirate Ship.
"It... it didn't work."
The White Man was stunned. The Crossbow Bolt had indeed struck, hitting the creature's head, yet it caused minimal damage.
"Is it useless?"
Leon’s expression darkened. He had already rammed into the Pirate Ship twice; just one more hit would sink it.
There was no time to replace the Crossbow Bolt and try again, and even then, it might not be effective.
He absolutely could not wait for the Pirate Ship to sink.
Puff Puff Puff.
The Spear Gun fired a series of spears, most missing their targets, while a few barely grazed the fish in the sea.
Leon watched as the Black Fish drew closer, its head partially exposed.
Narrowing his eyes, he shouted, "If I fall into the sea, pull me up quickly."
"Boss, you want to..." The White Man looked at Leon upon hearing this.
In the next moment, Leon's form suddenly expanded, tearing through his clothes. Golden fur sprouted across his body, and his head transformed into that of a lion.
His arms grew thick and muscular, fur bristling, while his hands became enormous with sharp claws extending from his fingertips. His legs bent backward, and his feet morphed into powerful lion paws. A long tail sprouted from behind him.
He was originally 1.9 meters tall, but now he had transformed into a towering 2.5-meter tall Lionman.
"Cat-Cat Fruit, Lion Form, Lion Form."
He leaped onto the ship's railing, crouching down as Xiaqiu approached the vessel. With a powerful push from his legs, he launched himself off the side.
Boom.
The section of the ship he landed on cracked under his weight as his body shot downward, aiming for Xiaqiu.
His claws extended forward with the force of his leap, gathering air pressure at his fingertips, creating a thunderous sound as the air exploded around him.
Lion's Hunt.
Leon’s claws struck toward Xiaqiu's head.
In that split second as he descended, Xiaqiu caught sight of him. Instead of continuing to charge forward, it suddenly lifted its head and collided upward.
Boom.
Leon's claws met Xiaqiu's horns with a tremendous impact, producing a deafening noise.
Crack.
Xiaqiu's forehead muscles tore apart as Leon's claws struck its bone, leaving deep fissures on its surface.
But in the next moment, there was another crack.
Leon's arms bent under the pressure, splintering as Xiaqiu's head, fueled by immense force, continued to slam into him.
Thud.
Leon's sternum caved in as he spat out a mouthful of blood into the air, hurtling backward and landing on the deck of the ship, gasping and coughing up blood.
"Captain! Boss!"
The surrounding Sailors rushed towards Leon.
But the broken rib had pierced Leon's Heart, and with a tilt of his head, he lost all signs of life.
Leon, who had used Lion's Hunt to attack Xiaqiu, was now nothing more than a corpse.
