Chapter Seventy-Two: Azure Hawk
Half an hour later, the poison took effect, and Xiaqiu felt the Tentacles weaken, gradually losing control.
An hour later, the toxicity increased, and Xiaqiu sensed a distinct weakness at the base of the abdomen, with a more pronounced numbness.
Xiaqiu began to consume sea fish, generating Evolutionary Energy to repair the damage.
After an hour and a half, the weakness at the base of the abdomen persisted, but it had not spread.
After two hours, the condition at the base of the abdomen remained stable.
Xiaqiu ate again, and the numbness at the base slowly faded away, restoring control.
After two and a half hours, the Tentacles began to recover.
After three hours, Xiaqiu consumed more sea fish, and the Tentacles were fully restored.
"The poison is quite potent."
Xiaqiu felt the changes in the toxin; it took three hours for his body to recover.
The venom from six or seven Sea Serpents was neutralized, which accounted for four feedings of Evolutionary Energy, though each feeding was not at maximum capacity.
This was complemented by a robust physique and an immunity to toxins.
If a sea fish, or a Sea Beast, or even Sea Kings lacked the ability to devour and evolve...
It was difficult to resist such a spread and the subsequent recovery.

With the evolution of Heat Flow and the development of an anti-venom, the size of the sea fish could be increased to one hundred fifty meters or even more.

Xiaqiu rested for over an hour, and after confirming that nothing was amiss with Tentacles, he began to take action.
He slowly moved, heading towards Ocean Cliff.

Moo Moo raised his head, watching as Xiaqiu swam toward the cliff, recalling the Sea Serpent from earlier.
Is Big Brother going to fight the Sea Serpent?
Trouble is brewing.
Moo Moo immediately followed, keeping a distance of about ten meters behind Xiaqiu, not daring to get too close.
As Xiaqiu approached the cliff, the water depth increased from six hundred to three hundred meters.
However, he noticed that there were very few Sea Serpents near the seabed.
The water was too deep.
Sea Serpents lived in the ocean but typically at depths below one hundred meters; those found deeper than that were rare.
There were openings in the cliff; even if they could dive to three hundred meters, they would likely remain active in the upper layers.
Xiaqiu slowly ascended, nearing the Surface of the Sea, and charged toward the direction of the Sea Serpent while simultaneously emitting sound waves.
It has arrived.
Xiaqiu noticed the Sea Serpents swimming towards him and quickly turned around.
Puff puff puff.
One by one, the Sea Serpents lunged at Xiaqiu, beginning to bite.
Xiaqiu ignored the attacking Sea Serpents and waited until several of them were ensnared by his Tentacles. Once they were entangled, he immediately chose to leave.
Boom.
Xiaqiu swiftly distanced himself from the cliff, pulling away rapidly.
As he moved forward, most of the Sea Serpents that couldn't harm him were dragged down with him.
After swimming over a thousand meters, the Sea Serpents caught in his grasp were suffocated. He released his Tentacles, and one by one, the Sea Serpents fell away.
Xiaqiu dove down, swallowing the Sea Serpents whole, patiently waiting.
After more than half an hour, the poison began to take effect.
Xiaqiu continued to feed, resisting the spread of toxins. After more than three hours, the toxicity faded away.
However, the Evolutionary Energy did not bring any noticeable changes to his body, or perhaps the changes were simply not apparent.
His body was too large, and his teeth were many times bigger than those of the Sea Serpent. Only the venomous fangs of a forty-meter Sea Serpent could rival his size.
However, Xiaqiu could feel the Heat Flow gathering near his mouth, indicating that it was having an effect, though the Evolutionary Energy was still too low.
It seemed he needed to continue feeding on the Sea Serpent.
Xiaqiu thought about it; today he had no intention of hunting. If the toxins were not completely eliminated and remained in his system, it could lead to some Trouble.
Eating twice was just the right frequency.
Xiaqiu dove toward the seabed, planning to find a place to rest. However, there weren't many locations that could accommodate both him and Moo Moo. There was a sunken ship nearby, but it was only slightly larger than Xiaqiu himself.
After searching for a while, Xiaqiu found a patch of underwater rocks. Unfortunately, the gaps in the rocks were too small for him to enter; he could only lean against them from a distance, using them as cover while he rested.
Sleeping in the Grand Line was dangerous. Large marine creatures' Attacks and changes in ocean currents posed threats to Xiaqiu.
He had two ways of sleeping. One was his fragmented sleep, allowing him to rest briefly and relieve physical fatigue for just a few minutes at a time.
The second method was derived from dolphins—an ability gained after consuming one. Of course, this ability did not allow Xiaqiu to remain fully alert while half-asleep; the so-called left-right brain switch meant one side of his brain was in deep sleep while the other remained drowsy.
In this state, he could control his breathing, move slowly through the water, and sense vibrations and dangers around him.
This way, he could maintain a high level of safety.
But what about you?
Xiaqiu looked at Moo Moo, who was leaning against him and sleeping soundly, and gave it a slap in frustration.
"What happened? Are enemies coming?"
Moo Moo immediately woke up, raising its head to look around, finding no enemies in sight.
Did my brother hit me?
Moo Moo glanced at Xiaqiu, who remained still.
It seemed that my brother was just dreaming.
Time to sleep, time to sleep.
Moo Moo lifted its pectoral fin and patted Xiaqiu before lying down again, resting against Xiaqiu and falling back asleep.

In the morning, Xiaqiu fed on some sea fish, surfaced, and basked in the sunlight, warming his body.
The ocean near the island was relatively calm; the sun shone down on Xiaqiu, making him feel warm and cozy.
Xiaqiu enjoyed the brief moment of tranquility but suddenly jolted awake.
What was that?
Xiaqiu watched as several black dots appeared above the mountains on the island, one of which grew larger and charged toward the Surface of the Sea.
With a splash, as the black dot approached the ocean, Xiaqiu could see what it was.
It was a massive Azure Hawk, entirely black with a long beak.
Its size was enormous, with a wingspan of over twenty meters and giant, sharp talons.
The cave above the mountains turned out to be the nest of the Azure Hawk.
With a roar, the Azure Hawk dove into the ocean, instantly landing on the water, its massive claws plunging into the sea.
Boom!
The Azure Hawk soared upward, pulling away from the Surface of the Sea. In its grasp was a Sea Serpent nearly eight or nine meters long; one claw held onto the serpent's head while the other gripped its midsection.
The Sea Serpent tried to bite back at the Azure Hawk, straining to turn its head but could only manage to clamp down on the hawk's legs.
However, the Azure Hawk's legs were covered in thick layers of keratin, and the Sea Serpent's biting force was insufficient to penetrate that armor.
The Azure Hawk continued to ascend higher and higher, carrying the Sea Serpent back to the cave at the mountain peak.
Apart from this Azure Hawk, there were two more Azure Hawks circling in the sky, waiting for an opportunity to attack.
Xiaqiu curiously observed these Azure Hawks. Their numbers far exceeded that of the Sea Serpents. Counting those in their nests, there were probably fewer than ten, while the Sea Serpents numbered at least a hundred, possibly reaching two to three hundred, with some measuring thirty to forty meters long.
In terms of overall strength and high-end capabilities, the serpents were clearly superior.
However, the Azure Hawks primarily hunted Sea Serpents that were mostly around seven or eight meters long, or about ten meters.
They had excellent eyesight and attacked when a Sea Serpent surfaced to breathe. Typically, they would catch one at a time before returning to their nests.
When encountering larger Sea Serpents, they would refrain from attacking.
After watching for a while and noticing the Azure Hawks returning to their nests, Xiaqiu slowly dove down and began heading toward the Serpent's Den.
