Chapter Sixty-Seven: Forward
The vast ocean was swept by fierce winds and dark clouds.
Between the clouds and the sea, a gigantic Black Fish moved through the water like a black submarine, freely exploring its depths.
At times, it would expose its head above the Water Surface, and at other times, it would dive beneath the waves, gliding swiftly along the Surface of the Sea.
It charged toward the waves, shattering the spray; it faced the torrential rain, unafraid of the raging winds.
It never flinched, nor did it ever stop.
In its eyes, one could see exploration, hope, and excitement.
The clouds hung lower, resembling heavy walls that leaned toward this side.
Lightning struck down from above, leaving a bright glow that illuminated the path ahead.
Amidst the rumbling Thunder, the Black Fish surged forward.
Closer now.
The towering Reverse Mountain appeared before it, like a massive curtain that enveloped this stretch of sea.
The Black Fish raced toward the mountain, drawing nearer and nearer.
A wide Waterway stretched along the mountainside, reaching into the open sky.
Boom.
Xiaqiu surged into the Waterway, swept up by the sea, rushing upward along the Waterway.
Moo Moo followed closely behind, also entering the Waterway.
At the entrance of the Waterway, massive stone doors flanked either side, appearing at intervals, with more than a dozen in total. Each pillar of the stone doors was engraved with images of Ugly Fish with sharp teeth.
The pillars were thick, each measuring four to five meters wide.
This is bad.
Xiaqiu charged too fiercely and collided with a stone pillar.
Turning around.
Xiaqiu slightly adjusted its body and continued to surge forward, moving straight along the Waterway.
But at that moment, a loud crash echoed from behind.
Bang.
Moo Moo crashed into the stone pillar, its body tilting as it slid downward.
That fool.
Xiaqiu was filled with frustration.
Moo Moo slid down, flapping its massive Pectoral Fin, only able to slow its descent.
Thud.
Moo Moo fell into the ocean, letting out a painful howl.
The current of the Waterway was swift and spacious, but unlike a Sea Vessel, Xiaqiu and Moo Moo could not harness the wind.
They could only rely on momentum, the power of the water, and their own body movements to propel themselves upward.
Once their bodies stalled, relying solely on the current would not lift their massive forms.
Helplessly, Xiaqiu had to stop and let itself fall, coming alongside Moo Moo, who looked up at it with pitiful eyes.
"Follow me."
Xiaqiu decided to swim backward, with Moo Moo closely following.
Together, they faced the waves and swam back for a distance before turning into the current, accelerating once more.
Xiaqiu moved quickly, pulling away from Moo Moo. Seeing this, Moo Moo hurried to increase its speed.
This time, their speed was even faster than before.
Boom.
Xiaqiu and Moo Moo once again charged into the Waterway, heading upstream.
Xiaqiu was about fifteen meters ahead of Moo Moo, which was why he had created some distance, to avoid blocking Moo Moo's line of sight.
Charge, charge, charge.
Soon, Xiaqiu and Moo Moo surged past the stone gate, their momentum unyielding as they continued upward.
Xiaqiu swayed his body, riding the current higher and higher.
Moo Moo followed closely behind, showing no signs of descending.
Boom.
Xiaqiu shot up through the Waterway, reaching the summit.
Here, the seawater began to converge towards another Waterway.
At Reverse Mountain, there were five Waterways—four above and one below.
The upper ones led from the Four Seas, while the lower one entered the Grand Line.
Upon reaching the summit, there was no need for much effort; one could simply flow down with the sea currents from the Waterway.
However, Xiaqiu braced against the rocky wall, wedging itself in place.
The current at the peak wasn't too strong and was relatively flat, allowing Xiaqiu to hold on.
Had Moo Moo made it up?
If he couldn't make it, Xiaqiu would have to go down to help him.
Just as Xiaqiu hesitated, there was a sudden thud as Moo Moo reached the summit and collided with Xiaqiu.
Moo Moo flattened his body, leaning forward, and upon charging up, he bumped right into Xiaqiu.
The sharp Horn of Moo Moo jabbed into the tail of Xiaqiu.
With a sharp sting at its tail, Xiaqiu felt a sudden pain and, along with Moo Moo, began to slide down with the current.
Moo Moo led the way while Xiaqiu followed closely behind, gliding down the Waterway at an increasing speed.
Below Reverse Mountain lay Abu; they needed to avoid crashing into him.
Whoosh, whoosh.
Xiaqiu and Moo Moo were moving faster, getting closer to the Surface of the Sea.
What was that?
Xiaqiu spotted a massive whale rising from the ocean below, its head towering above the water.
Island Whale Laboon.
He was born in the West Sea, originally a social creature, but after encountering the Rumbar Pirates, he followed them to the Grand Line.
However, due to the dangers of the Grand Line, the Rumbar Pirates left Laboon at Twin Cape, promising to return in three years.
Yet, fifty years passed without a sign of the Rumbar Pirates.
Among them, only Brook, who had consumed the Underworld Fruit, survived.
Laboon was enormous; one of his eyes was several times larger than Merry's, with a diameter of at least thirty meters.
Based on the size of his eye, his body length exceeded one thousand meters, making him an undeniable giant.
In fact, there was a lake on his belly, known as Heart Island.
This lake could accommodate a giant squid about thirty meters long; including its tentacles, its total length exceeded sixty meters.
Despite his size and strength, he was inherently gentle and would not attack unless provoked.
"Don't touch him."
Xiaqiu thought as he leaped into the water, suddenly twisting his body.
Drifting.
Xiaqiu's body moved sideways toward Laboon, but just as he had covered less than half the distance, he halted his downward motion. Then, he swung his body and swam toward the tail of the fish.
But just when Xiaqiu thought he was safe, there was a loud bang.
Moo Moo's horns pierced directly into Laboon's body.
It's over.
Seeing this scene, Xiaqiu's mouth dropped open.
You bastard, you actually hurt him.
Splashing sounds followed.
Moo Moo slowly backed away, and from the wound, two jets of blood immediately shot out.
Moo Moo glanced at Island Whale, then at Xiaqiu, and swam over in this direction.
"Wooohhh."
But in that moment, Laboon opened its mouth and let out a loud sound before slowly submerging its body.
This is bad.
Xiaqiu saw this scene and quickly swam towards Laboon.
"Hehe."
Moo Moo, seeing Xiaqiu approaching, happily ran over to nuzzle against Xiaqiu.
Idiot.
Xiaqiu dashed to Moo Moo's side, swiftly moved sideways, and gave Moo Moo a sharp slap with its tail before swimming away into the distance.
Moo Moo understood immediately what Xiaqiu meant after being hit and hurriedly followed.
Xiaqiu swam close to the Island Whale's body, gliding in an arc towards the back of the Island Whale.
Gurgle.
The Island Whale slowly submerged into the water, gradually opening its mouth wide to gulp in water.
Rushing seawater flowed into its belly, and all the marine creatures around were drawn into its mouth.
Xiaqiu stayed close to its body, avoiding the front, but the immense suction still dragged it along.
Xiaqiu swung his body, unleashing a tremendous force that countered the pull and propelled him forward for a short distance.
As long as he avoided Front, the remaining attraction was not to be feared.
But just as Xiaqiu was thinking this, Moo Moo was retreating. He kept flapping his body, still being pulled back.
Moo Moo was positioned further back, right in the diagonal line of Island Whale, where the suction was stronger.
His own strength was relatively limited, making it impossible for him to escape.
That fool.
First injuring Laboon, and now getting sucked away.
Xiaqiu didn't want to stand by and do nothing, but he had no good solutions.
What to do?
Watching Moo Moo being pulled back, an idea suddenly struck Xiaqiu.
But it was too dangerous.
If he didn't execute it properly, he could end up in trouble himself. Although being swallowed might offer a chance to escape.
But...
Was it worth the risk to help Moo Moo?
Xiaqiu gritted her teeth and suddenly relaxed her body.
Whoosh.
In an instant, Xiaqiu slid backward, and in just a moment, she reached Moo Moo's position and continued to move back.
At the moment she fell behind Moo Moo, Xiaqiu suddenly lowered her Pectoral Fins and Pelvic Fins, bracing against the water flow. She twisted her body and surged forward.
Move forward.
Xiaqiu's body erupted with powerful strength, resisting the immense suction.
Bang.
Xiaqiu broke free from the constraints of the seawater and shot out, colliding with Moo Moo.
Moo Moo immediately halted, sensing Xiaqiu's assistance. It swung its Pectoral Fins with all its might, lowering its body as it swam forward.
Just a bit more, a little further ahead.
Xiaqiu pushed hard, inching forward.
Ah!
Xiaqiu pushed against Moo Moo, moving forward little by little, but the distance gained was minimal, and Xiaqiu's strength was rapidly depleting.
Hold on, just hold on a bit longer.
Xiaqiu swung his body vigorously, hoping to advance even a little.
His strength was waning, and he could no longer move forward; in fact, he was slowly being pulled back.
But just as Xiaqiu began to retreat, a loud bang echoed.
With a resounding noise, Laboon's mouth closed, and the suction force vanished.
Boom.
Xiaqiu, with all his might pushing against Moo Moo, felt them both drift away from Laboon.
Splashing sounds filled the air.
As they swam further and further away, Xiaqiu finally stopped after covering some distance, feeling utterly exhausted.
I'm dead tired.
Xiaqiu slowed down, keeping a wary eye on Laboon while taking a break.
Noticing that Xiaqiu had stopped, Moo Moo also came to a halt, walking over to Xiaqiu and resting its head on Xiaqiu's body.
Woo woo woo.
Moo Moo let out a sorrowful sound, continuously nudging Xiaqiu with its head.
Sigh.
Xiaqiu, who initially wanted to teach it a lesson, shook his head. Tentacles extended out gently, patting Moo Moo's body.
There, there, don't cry anymore.
