Chapter Fifty-Six: The Arrival of Navy
After making up his mind, Xiaqiu began the process of taming Moo Moo.
He did not attack Moo Moo but instead slowly descended in front of him, remaining motionless.
"Hmm?"
Seeing Xiaqiu approach without attacking, Moo Moo straightened up and, after observing for a while, slowly wandered off into the distance.
But in the next moment, Xiaqiu transformed into a massive shadow and charged at him, sending him flying.
Moo Moo lay on the ground crying again, while Xiaqiu ignored him and rested nearby.
This time, Moo Moo remained calm for a long while. However, half an hour later, he got up again, glanced at Xiaqiu, and planned to leave.
Xiaqiu charged at him once more, delivering another beating. Finally, Moo Moo understood that he was not allowed to leave.
What was he trying to do?
Not eating him or attacking him—what was the purpose?
Was it possible that he wasn't hungry now but would eat him when he got hungry later?
Moo Moo trembled in fear but dared not run away.
After a while, Xiaqiu slowly got up and wandered off into the distance, disappearing from sight.
Had she left?
Moo Moo sensed that the other had moved beyond his range of perception and quietly slipped away.
However, he hadn't gone far when Xiaqiu returned.
Seeing Xiaqiu, Moo Moo immediately obediently returned to his original spot.
Then Xiaqiu left again.
Three minutes passed, then five.
Xiaqiu still hadn't come back, and Moo Moo hesitated. He wanted to escape but was afraid that Xiaqiu would leave for good.
But at the seven-minute mark, he straightened up again, trying to make a run for it.
The result was simple: Xiaqiu charged over once more, giving him a lesson before leaving again.
Moo Moo lay on the ground, waiting patiently. Ten minutes turned into fifteen, yet Xiaqiu's figure still did not appear.
"I won't run away."
Moo Moo chuckled coldly to himself, "You think I don't know you're waiting for me outside? This time I won't run, so you have no reason to hit me."
Time passed slowly, and after twenty minutes, Xiaqiu returned.
He had a massive Whale Shark hanging from his mouth, approximately ten meters long and weighing over six tons.
"Did you go hunting?"
Moo Moo was stunned, his expression turning to one of deep frustration. "He went hunting, and I should have escaped. But I'm so hungry."
Moo Moo stared at the Whale Shark, drooling.
However, Xiaqiu ignored him and walked over to begin devouring the Whale Shark.
"Ah, I'm so hungry. I really want to eat," Moo Moo said as he watched Xiaqiu eat, inhaling the surrounding scent of blood while his stomach growled with hunger.
Yet, due to Xiaqiu's threat, Moo Moo dared not move.
After Xiaqiu finished eating, he glanced at Moo Moo and slowly backed away.
"Not eating anymore?"
Seeing this scene, Moo Moo looked at the remaining Whale Shark, longing to go over and eat.
But he didn't dare, fearing he would be attacked.
Moo Moo lay there watching, feeling very hungry, but he did not dare to move an inch.
At that moment, some fish swam over and began to nibble at the corpse of the Whale Shark.
"No reaction."
Seeing that Xiaqiu showed no response, Moo Moo's eyes lit up. He slowly swam over, scaring the fish away, and then began to feast on the Whale Shark.
Moo Moo ate vigorously, devouring the front side completely and even crunching down on the fish head before swallowing it.
After finishing, he lifted his head and immediately saw Xiaqiu appear right in front of him.
Moo Moo shivered in fright, looking at the other with trepidation. However, Xiaqiu ignored him, taking a step back to continue resting.
Seeing that Xiaqiu did not attack him, Moo Moo let out a sigh of relief, realizing that he wasn't so violent after all.
But he also understood that Xiaqiu did not see him as food.
So why was he not allowed to leave?
Moo Moo didn't know, but he refrained from making any movements that might provoke Xiaqiu and quietly waited there.
The two of them settled here, with Xiaqiu occasionally going out to hunt. When he returned, Moo Moo would devour the leftover food.
"Following him means there's food to eat."
Moo Moo munched on the food brought back by Xiaqiu, then backed away a bit and lay down, saying, "As long as I don't hit myself, it's fine."
But at that moment, a tremendous tremor suddenly resonated from the surface of the sea.
...
"What was that?"
On the fifth floor of the tower at Arlong Park, Nami spotted a distant Naval Battleship, raising an eyebrow.
The Navy had sent people, and there were three battleships.
Nami picked up her binoculars to look into the distance, where she saw several numbers written on the ship's side: "77, 19, 16."
It seemed like the last time they came, it was the 16th Branch Base.
With three Branch Bases, there would be at least three colonels and around two hundred sailors. Plus cannons, they might be able to fight against Arlong and his crew.
"But Arlong and his gang are not here."
Nami frowned and said, "But with Moo Moo here, they will have a hard time getting close. Let's leave this place first to avoid getting caught up in it, and then we'll see how things go."
Thinking this, Nami ran down the tower and headed toward the back door.
...
"A Naval Battleship? Three of them."
On the beach, a villager from Cocoa West Village spotted three warships approaching in the distance, his face lighting up with joy.
"Everyone, the Navy is here to save us!"
He hurriedly ran toward Cocoa West Village, excitement evident in his expression.
"What? The Navy has come?"
Surrounding villagers rushed over upon hearing his words, encircling him.
"Yes, I saw the Naval Battleship out at sea," the villager shouted excitedly.
Aken frowned and said, "A Naval Battleship? One came two years ago and was driven off by Arlong's gang. The Navy might not necessarily be able to save us."
"It's not just one."
The villager shook his head and raised three fingers, saying, "Three ships."
Aken replied, "Three ships might just save us."
"But Arlong left this morning," a voice chimed in. It was a girl with short blue hair, around fifteen years old.
"That's right, Arlong and his crew left the island this morning," she confirmed.
Aken stroked his chin thoughtfully. "If the Navy defeats Arlong Park and leaves, Arlong might come back and vent his anger on us. We need to make sure they stay."
"And what about Nami? We don't know if she's around. If the Navy finds her..." Nokigao added from the side.
"Exactly, we can't let anything happen to Nami," Aken nodded. "I'll head to Arlong Park nearby. When the Navy arrives, I'll try to make contact with them."
With that, Aken set off toward Arlong Park.
"I'll go too," Nokigao said, following closely behind. The other villagers exchanged glances before deciding to accompany Aken as well.
“Is that a Naval Battleship?”
The four Fish Soldiers left to guard Arlong Park were the last to spot the Battleship, and they were taken aback by its presence in the distance.
“Three of them have come. With Arlong gone, we are no match for them. What should we do?” one Fish Soldier asked his companions.
“With three Battleships, we stand no chance. We should leave here; Arlong won't blame us for it,” another Fish Soldier replied. “If we stay on land, we might be searched and may not even last until Arlong arrives. Let's head to the sea and wait for him to come before we surface.”
“There’s also Moo Moo in the sea. If we find it, perhaps we can sink the Naval Battleship. We can strike when the opportunity arises.”
The Fish Soldiers reached a consensus and immediately moved to the edge of the pool, jumping into the water and switching to gill breathing as they set off to search for Moo Moo.
