Chapter Fifty-Five: Bold Ideas
After devouring Arlong, Xiaqiu immediately set off in pursuit of Eight.
Eight was an Officer in the Arlong Pirate Crew, second only to Arlong in strength.
Xiaqiu had no intention of letting his Enhanced Energy escape.
So, after swallowing Arlong, Xiaqiu began the chase. Five minutes later, the Heat Flow within Xiaqiu, fueled by the fine Heat Flow provided by the Fish Soldiers, surged powerfully.
This energy was incredible.
Xiaqiu could feel the immense and scorching Heat Flow, far surpassing that of Crocboy and Jiu combined.
Such power caused Xiaqiu's body to emit faint sounds, a long-forgotten sensation of pain spreading throughout him.
It was predictable that after consuming Arlong, his physical capabilities would improve significantly.
Xiaqiu allowed the Heat Flow to transform his body as he continued his pursuit.
After another six or seven minutes, having traveled about ten kilometers, he approached Zoumeida Island. At that moment, a Fishman appeared before him.
Who was that?
Xiaqiu recalled the Fishman who had stealthily fled during his battle with Arlong and Eight.
He had actually made it here.
But where was Eight?
The Fishman had left two or three minutes earlier than Eight, and with Arlong's ten-minute delay, it took about twenty-five minutes for him to catch up.
At Eight's speed, he would definitely be able to catch up.
Moreover, there was no sign of Eight within a thousand meters in front of him.
Could it be that he wasn't here?
Xiaqiu charged toward the Fishman and, amidst the creature's painful wails, devoured him in one bite.
Afterward, Xiaqiu continued to swim toward Zoumeida Island.
After traveling a distance, Xiaqiu felt the Heat Flow in his body beginning to weaken.
He could sense the immense energy surging within him.
Boom.
Xiaqiu's body swayed, and the entire fish surged forward, increasing its speed even more.
His muscles grew stronger, his scales became harder, his bones tougher, and his physical power surged to new heights.
Having consumed Arlong, Xiaqiu's strength had increased yet again.
Now, Xiaqiu's power far surpassed Arlong's, elevating him by two tiers.
Arlong's strength was considered exceptional among the regulars in the East Sea.
His status was relatively high. In the cabin of the Sun Pirates, Fischer sat in the main seat, flanked only by Jinbei and Arlong.
However, Arlong's strength was limited. When Luffy fought him, it was relatively easy and could not be considered a life-and-death struggle.
In Loguetown, Luffy was easily captured by Smoker, who was accompanied by Sanji and Zoro.
Arlong's strength on land was a considerable distance from that of a Marine Colonel. (Smoker was stationed in Loguetown but counted as part of the Marine headquarters.)
Within the Navy, the Four Seas division was weak. Oda had previously mentioned in the SBS that the ranks in the Four Seas were three levels lower than those at headquarters, with Commodore being the highest rank in that division.
Essentially, a Colonel was equivalent to a Captain, and a Lieutenant Commander to a Lieutenant.
Arlong was about two ranks lower than Smoker on land.
Fishmen had significantly enhanced abilities underwater, allowing them to defeat many Devil Fruit users; however, Colonels were not solely composed of Devil Fruit users.
In the future, Dasky would master Six Styles and Armament Haki while holding the rank of Colonel.
Koby would also learn Six Styles and Observation Haki, achieving the rank of Colonel.
Pern could kill enormous Sea Kings and easily slice through Pirate Ships.
These three Colonels did not possess Devil Fruits and could easily defeat Arlong on land. Their strength underwater would diminish significantly, but they might not necessarily be defeated.
Comparing his own strength to theirs on land, he should be at the same level.
However, their underwater abilities were far inferior to his own. Not only Colonels but even Commodores from headquarters would find themselves outmatched by him underwater.
Only Major General could perhaps fight against himself in the water.
Xiaqiu thought as he approached Zoumeida Island, searching for the traces of Ba. At that moment, his echolocation detected a massive Sea Beast.
“Moo Moo.”
Xiaqiu's eyes lit up. “Right, there’s you.”
He had once driven it away, but it had sneaked back.
However, Xiaqiu paid it no mind and slowly moved closer, stopping five hundred meters away. He began to search along Zoumeida Island for any signs of Ba.
Nothing.
After searching for a while, Xiaqiu found no traces of Ba around Zoumeida Island.
Had he not come?
According to the timeline, he should have arrived here. The fact that he hadn’t meant he hadn’t come in this direction at all.
Unable to devour Ba, Xiaqiu felt a deep sense of regret.
But it wasn’t over yet; next, he would wait near the Harbor to see if Ba would show up.
Before waiting, however, Xiaqiu had one more thing to do: find Moo Moo.
The two had fought more than once.
The first time you tried to kill me, we exchanged injuries, and I drove you away.
The second time, I knocked you out with a slap, but you played dead and escaped.
This time, I won't let you get away.
Xiaqiu charged toward the opponent, but as he got closer, Moo Moo spotted him and immediately bolted in the opposite direction.
Trying to run away?
Xiaqiu closely followed, steadily closing the distance between them.
Moo Moo was fast, swinging his massive Pectoral Fin, his body undulating as he fled into the distance.
But two years ago, Xiaqiu was faster than him, and now he was still faster. With a burst of speed, he continued to shorten the gap between them.
Whoosh.
After chasing for two thousand meters, Xiaqiu surged past Moo Moo and collided with his side.
Boom.
Xiaqiu crashed into him, sending Moo Moo flipping over in the water. He rolled for a moment before crashing onto the seabed. As he tried to get up, Xiaqiu was already standing in front of him.
Moo Moo looked ahead; Xiaqiu was right there, showing his sharp teeth in a menacing grin.
"How terrifying."
Moo Moo shuddered.
At this moment, Xiaqiu, measuring forty-one meters in length, was not much smaller than Moo Moo, though it lacked the same height.
Having fought against Xiaqiu twice before and lost both times, Moo Moo dared not engage in battle again.
"Woo woo woo."
Moo Moo immediately lay down, its eyes turning red as tears welled up and mingled with the sea water.
"Crying."
Xiaqiu was momentarily taken aback by the sight; it was the first time he had seen a Sea Beast cry.
Afraid?
Xiaqiu slowly approached, but Moo Moo sensed his presence and trembled uncontrollably.
Slap.
Xiaqiu turned around slowly and lifted his tail, striking Moo Moo across the face.
You wanted to attack me, you wanted to bite me, you wanted to crush me.
Xiaqiu continued to slap Moo Moo's face.
After two hits, Moo Moo let out an angry roar, opening its massive jaws and lunging at Xiaqiu.
Bang.
Xiaqiu swung its tail again, striking Moo Moo on the cheek and knocking it to the ground, causing its face to swell immediately.
Still dare to resist?
"Woo woo woo."
Moo Moo lay on the ground once more, crying loudly.
Xiaqiu walked over and gave it a few more whacks. After venting its frustration, it approached Moo Moo and opened its mouth wide.
But then Xiaqiu noticed the ring in Moo Moo's nose and suddenly had a bold idea.
This nose ring was put on by Arlong's gang when they captured and tamed it. If Arlong could tame it, could I tame it too?
It was a formidable fighter, at least in the sea; its combat ability was not inferior to that of an Officer.
More importantly, I am too lonely.
Having been in this world for over four years, my life has revolved around eating, resting, and fighting.
There was no one to talk to, and I didn't know how to communicate either.
This kind of life was far too dull. I had felt incredibly bored even before leaving Narl Village.
It was only when Arlong's gang arrived here that I managed to hold on, living with the belief of annihilating them.
But now, the Evil Dragon Pirate Crew was basically wiped out, and aside from waiting for Eight, there was no idea what to do next.
I don't want to live that old life anymore.
Xiaqiu looked at Moo Moo and thought he would make a perfect pet.
Hehe.
Xiaqiu grinned and gave Moo Moo a friendly smile.
"Woo woo woo."
However, the next moment, Moo Moo saw Xiaqiu's smile and got so scared that he covered his head with his Pectoral Fin, trembling uncontrollably.
