Chapter 43: Unexpected Developments
The massive Naval Battleship slowly approached the Coast where the Pirate Crew of the Evil Dragon was stationed.
“Boss, it’s bad news! It’s the Navy!” a Fishman rushed into Arlong Park, panic evident on his face.
“The Navy?”
Arlong's expression darkened. “They actually found us here. Which branch is it?”
“The number 16 is written on it. It’s the Battleship from the 16 Branch Base,” the Fishman replied quickly.
Jiu raised an eyebrow. “The 16 Branch Base? Isn’t that responsible for this sea area? I remember Rear Sand Town and Cocoa West Village are both under their jurisdiction.”
Beside him, Crocboy asked, “Arlong, should we engage them?”
Arlong waved his hand dismissively. “Not yet. They are in charge of this area. If we can bribe them, it could save us a lot of trouble.”
After a moment of thought, Arlong continued, “Let’s send someone to negotiate with them. As long as they ignore us, we can offer them two million Berries upfront and then share a portion of our monthly earnings with them—one hundred thousand Berries each month. If they refuse, we’ll just eliminate them.”
Arlong scanned the surroundings, intending to find someone to send for negotiations, but at that moment—
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Cannon fire roared as cannonballs were launched; three cannonballs came hurtling toward them.
Bang! A Cannonball struck the wall, smashing through it.
Splash! A Cannonball hit the Water Surface, sending a massive splash into the air.
The third Cannonball aimed at Arlong, who opened his mouth and bit down on the Cannonball.
Crunch.
Arlong's teeth closed together, crushing the Cannonball effortlessly.
"It seems they don't want to negotiate. Then let's kill them," Arlong spat out the fragments of the Cannonball, his voice filled with malice.
As he spoke, a group of Fishmen stood up and gathered around him.
"No need for so many," Arlong waved his hand dismissively. "Crocboy and Jiu, take two Fishmen each. Can you handle them?"
"Jiu and I are enough," Crocboy replied calmly.
"Leave it to us," Choo said with a teasing smile on his face.
"Go ahead."
Arlong waved his hand, and Crocboy along with Choo each picked two Fishmen and jumped straight into the water.
Choo was the fastest, shooting out like an arrow. He quickly reached the side of the ship, leaping up to appear next to it, and with a splash, he unleashed a water cannon.
Bang.
A sailor was struck by the water cannon, blood erupting from his chest as he fell to the ground, lifeless.
Some sailors drew their swords in caution, while others raised their rifles, aiming at Choo.
"Fire."
The colonel in Naval Officer attire waved his hand.
Bang, bang, bang, bullets flew from the guns.
But Choo darted around, evading the gunfire and dodging all the bullets.
However, the subsequent gunfire forced him into a position where he could not retaliate.
"Damn it."
Chou sensed trouble, but at that moment, a loud crash echoed as the ship trembled and tilted slightly.
The sailors leaned to one side, and Chou seized the opportunity to unleash a few water blasts, knocking several sailors down.
At that moment, two Fishmen emerged from the depths, one on the left and one on the right, lunging toward the sailors.
"Kill them."
The captain drew his sword and charged at Chou. However, Chou swiftly dodged his blade and fired another water blast.
Bang.
The captain was hit directly, staggering backward and collapsing onto the deck, severely injured.
"Too weak."
Chou scoffed and continued his assault.
Meanwhile, underwater, Crocboy led two other Fishmen deeper into the sea.
Rip.
Crocboy gripped the ship's board tightly, his feet planted firmly on the vessel as he exerted all his strength to tear the board away and drift toward the distance.
The other two Fishman held chisels, striking the side of the ship.
But at that moment, Crocboy's expression changed dramatically as he shouted, "Get down!"
"Huh?"
The two Fishman paused for a moment upon hearing this. One of them reacted quickly, pushing off the ship with his feet and retreating swiftly.
The other Fishman was a beat slower, but that delay ultimately saved his life.
Boom.
A massive shadow surged forward, initially aimed at the ship, but in the next instant, it twisted its head slightly and turned just enough to bite down on the Fishman who had distanced himself from the Sea Vessel, capturing him in its jaws.
Crunch.
The teeth closed together, and the Fishman was reduced to a pulp.
Then Xiaqiu continued its charge, its body gliding past the side of the ship.
"It's it."
Seeing the massive Black Fish, Crocboy was reminded of the fish that had killed four Fishmen six months ago. He never expected it to appear at this moment.
"Kill it."
With a powerful push from his legs, Crocboy shot toward the Black Fish and, as he got closer, delivered a kick.
The ocean currents surged beneath him as he aimed for the fish's underbelly.
This kick carried immense force, targeting Xiaqiu's lower abdomen.
However, Xiaqiu had been using sound waves to pinpoint his location, with a time lag of up to 5 seconds. Almost every one of Crocboy's movements was detectable.
As Crocboy approached, Xiaqiu lunged forward while simultaneously twisting its body, swinging its tail directly at Crocboy.
Boom.
The tail fin collided with Crocboy's leg, sending waves crashing and churning in the water.
Crack.
Two of Xiaqiu's tail spines snapped off upon impact, a result of Xiaqiu shortening its attack distance.
At the same time, a sharp pain shot through Crocboy's leg.
"Such great power."
Crocboy felt a sharp pain in his right foot as the sea creature charged off into the distance.
"Boss, what should we do?" another lucky survivor, Fishman, looked at Crocboy.
"Keep destroying the ship. If it dares to come back, we'll kill it," Crocboy replied fiercely, moving closer to the ship's hull to continue his destruction.
Before long, he squinted and said, "It's coming. You hide under the ship."
"Got it."
The Fishman immediately swam toward the bottom of the ship while Crocboy prepared for the creature's charge.
Boom.
Xiaqiu surged forward with tremendous force, opening its massive jaws to bite down on Crocboy.
"Die!"
Crocboy crossed his arms over his chest and spun upward just in time to evade Xiaqiu's jaws, delivering a powerful kick downward.
“Fire Blossom Heel Strike.”
Crocboy's foot slammed directly onto Xiaqiu's horn.
Bang.
After a muffled sound, a tremendous vibration occurred, causing the sea to surge wildly.
Crack.
Xiaqiu's scales shattered, and the hard bone of its horn developed cracks, its massive form momentarily halted.
Boom.
Crocboy was sent flying backward, his right foot's bone fracturing upon impact.
The force was overwhelming.
Crocboy's expression darkened; he hadn't anticipated such immense strength from his opponent. Despite delivering a downward kick, the counterforce was too much for him to bear.
Moreover, Xiaqiu possessed a gigantic and extremely hard horn that could absorb some of the impact.
Otherwise, with that kick, even if he had more power, he could have seriously injured a fish in the sea.
It hurts.
Xiaqiu felt the pain of its broken horns, but did not stop, charging once more at Crocboy.
"Hmph."
Crocboy narrowed his eyes. "Strong, but still just a fish. I won't meet you head-on."
With a powerful push of his legs, Crocboy shot to the right, narrowly avoiding Xiaqiu's massive jaws as they swept past his head.
At the same time, Crocboy propelled himself forward, curling his arms, with the scythe-like fins on his arms aimed at Xiaqiu's side, targeting its Pectoral Fin.
Mermaid Karate, Wrist Blade Slash.
I'll sever your Pectoral Fin.
But just as Crocboy dodged Xiaqiu, the latter spun to the left, exposing its belly to Crocboy.
Trying to evade?
Seeing Xiaqiu's movement, Crocboy squinted. "Then I'll cut open your belly."
With a sinister grin, Crocboy lunged forward, but in the next moment, his eyes widened in shock. "What is that?"
In the next moment, Crocboy charged into Xiaqiu's Tentacles area, his wrist blade striking the Tentacles.
With a splat, two of Xiaqiu's Tentacles were severed and fell directly downward, but Crocboy's forward momentum came to an abrupt halt.
The remaining eight Tentacles slowly closed in, wrapping around him and binding his form.
"What am I seeing?"
After being ensnared, Crocboy's expression was filled with disbelief. "Fish actually have tentacles?"
