"Enough, don't say anything more." I interrupted her, "I've made the arrangements, and I'm in charge."
With that, I called a taxi, loaded my luggage into the trunk, and got in.
My sister-in-law was stunned for a moment before she screamed, "Wang Zixuan, stop right there!"
My brother looked displeased as well. "Sister, this isn't right. We're here on vacation; of course, we should stay together as a family."
"Exactly." My sister-in-law's eyes were red, tears brimming. "Wang Zixuan, you're just trying to make things difficult for us."
"Alright, stop crying." My brother coaxed her, "Sister, apologize to your sister-in-law. We'll stay at the Youth Hostel together."
I took a deep breath to suppress the anger bubbling inside me. "I said I’m not used to sharing a room with others."
"You can stay by yourselves," I declared.
With that, I got into the car, closed the door, and left.
"Wang Zixuan!" My brother shouted angrily as he rushed over to pull open the car door and yanked me out.
"Slap!"
A hard slap landed on my face.
I covered my cheek in disbelief as I looked at him.
My brother's face turned pale with rage. "Wang Zixuan, you've gotten bold, haven't you?"
"Don't think you're impressive just because you've made some money."
"In our Wang family, I am the one who makes the decisions."
"Your sister-in-law is only looking out for you. Apologize to her and we can forget this whole thing."
My sister-in-law stood behind him with a smug expression.
I trembled with anger. "You’re being unreasonable."
"What reason do you want?" My brother sneered. "Wang Zixuan, this is your sister-in-law; you need to apologize to her."
"Right." Our parents had also come over:
"Zixuan, your sister-in-law is considering the family. Why are you being so inconsiderate?"
"Apologize to her."
I took a step back, looking at them, feeling a chill deep inside. This was my family. The closest relatives I had grown up with, relying on each other. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, I had calmed down.
"Forget it, if you want to stay at the Youth Hostel, go ahead. I'm not going."
"What?" My brother exploded in anger. "Wang Zixuan, what do you mean?"
I looked at him expressionlessly. "That's exactly what I mean. You do your thing, and I'll do mine."
"I am not staying at the Youth Hostel."
With that, I turned and got into the car, leaving.
"Wang Zixuan, come back!" My brother's furious shout faded behind me.
Forty minutes later, I arrived at the hotel room on the top floor.
Standing on the balcony, I saw my parents standing on the balcony of the Youth Hostel, their faces filled with worry.
During our video call, I pointed the camera around the entire room.
My parents gasped when they saw the living room and bedroom. "Zixuan, how much does this hotel cost?"
"Not expensive, twelve hundred a night," I replied with a smile. "My company has been busy lately, and I didn't have time to travel, so I let your brother take you out for fun."
"I've already transferred two hundred thousand to your brother to take full responsibility for this trip."
My parents looked a bit awkward.
Feigning confusion, I asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," they said with forced smiles. "Staying at the Youth Hostel is fine too."
"Right, the Youth Hostel is fine," I nodded in agreement.
After hanging up the video call, I couldn't help but laugh.
I know they are worried about money. My parents are just ordinary workers, and their retirement pension is not much. My brother doesn't have much either; I was the one who paid the bride price when he got married. As for my sister-in-law, it's even more complicated. She comes from a rural background, and her family has three younger brothers who are counting on her to support them. So when they heard about a hotel that costs twelve hundred for one night, they definitely couldn't afford it. But they didn't want me to look down on them, so they had to put on a brave face.
