"This is cotton," Qing Luan explained, suppressing her excitement. "A-Song, I can't tell you what this cotton is for yet, but you'll understand in the future. By the way, when we get back, you can share what we found earlier, but this—never tell anyone, okay?" 0

"I understand!" A-Song nodded seriously, his expression grave. He knew that the young lady trusted him enough to bring him up the mountain. If he couldn't keep such a secret, how could he ever earn her favor in the future? 0

Previously, he had been a hidden guard for Hu Lingyun, living in the shadows. But after following the young lady, not only had she treated him well, but he also experienced the warmth of a home where he didn't have to watch anyone's face. So he silently vowed to protect her well. 0

After marking the spot where they found the cotton, Qing Luan led A-Song deeper into the mountains. In this remote area, few people ventured, and their arrival startled birds into flight and rabbits into a swift retreat. The once quiet forest suddenly became lively, leaving Qing Luan both amused and exasperated. She had only come to see what resources the mountain held but hadn't expected such a commotion. 0

"Miss," just as Qing Luan was getting annoyed by the startled birds, A-Song suddenly leaned closer and gestured for her to lower her body. "Shh!" Once they were hidden in the bushes, he signaled her to remain silent and fixed his sharp black eyes on a nearby rustling branch. 0

"What’s wrong?" Qing Luan silently asked, captivated by A-Song's tense expression. It was her first time seeing him so serious and commanding; she felt that having A-Song with her might lead to unforeseen troubles. 0

A-Song didn’t speak but gently shook his head, leaving her unsure whether he meant he didn’t know or wanted her to stay quiet. Seeing this, Qing Luan followed his gaze into the distance, frowning as she wondered if A-Song was being overly cautious. What kind of bloodthirsty creature could possibly be in this forest? 0

The sound grew closer, causing Qing Luan's palms to sweat with anxiety at the thought of encountering danger. But when a white figure suddenly dashed towards her and pounced, she froze completely—whether from fear or surprise, she couldn't tell. After being knocked down, she lay there dumbfounded and speechless. 0

A-Song was equally bewildered by the scene before him. He had been vigilant all along, but the speed of the small creature left him no time to react. 0

Qing Luan lay awkwardly on the ground, instinctively wrapping her arms around the little creature that had jumped on her. Blinking in disbelief at its brown eyes filled with fear, she absentmindedly stroked its snow-white fur as her mind went blank. 0

"Woof woof..." The strange scene shifted with the dog's barking. Mechanically turning her head, Qing Luan spotted a large figure rushing towards them from a distance. Her heart skipped a beat as she scrambled to her feet in a panic but still held onto the little creature tightly. 0

"A-Song," she said as she looked at the dog baring its teeth and showing its fierce demeanor. Qing Luan hesitated; all of her earlier courage vanished as she clutched the whimpering little creature and retreated behind A-Song. 0

Seeing the young lady's timid demeanor, A-Song felt a flicker of comfort in his heart; otherwise, he truly wouldn't know what use the young lady had in buying him. He shielded her behind him, narrowing his eyes as he calmly stared at the growling Black Mastiff before him, whispering to the person behind him, "Miss, you should leave first." Without the young lady behind him, he would have no worries. 0

"Mm!" At this moment, Qing Luan nodded decisively, showing no hesitation. 0

The fierce black Wolfdog, realizing its prey had been snatched away, immediately crouched down, its eyes filled with bloodthirsty ferocity, creating a tense atmosphere. 0

"A Wolf," a low and gentle voice suddenly interrupted the standoff. A boy around fourteen or fifteen years old stepped forward, commanding his beloved dog, "Stay still and lie down!" 0

Upon hearing its owner's command, the dog obediently lay on the ground without moving. 0

The stalemate was instantly resolved. Qing Luan noticed A-Song's tense expression relaxed as well; it was clear he had been quite nervous just moments ago. 0

"Who are you?" The boy wore a fitted green outfit clearly designed for hunting. His sun-kissed face glistened with a layer of sweat, and his handsome, defined features were complemented by a golden headband that accentuated his noble and imposing aura. Even in his gentle inquiry, there was an air of authority. 0

Qing Luan observed him discreetly, thinking that this person was either wealthy or of high status—most likely the latter. The innate nobility radiating from him could make even true royal family members feel inferior. "Why don’t you introduce yourself before asking for someone else's name?" 0

Xuanyuan Rui looked at her with surprise at her unpretentious boldness, puzzled about whether she was male or female—he had clearly seen earrings on her ears and assumed she was a playful girl from a fishing family who had come to the mountains with her brother. He hadn’t expected her to possess such spirited grace. 0

"Hey, my young... master is asking you a question; are you mute?" A-Song growled fiercely at Xuanyuan Rui, who had been staring intently at the young lady. He completely ignored the air of nobility surrounding Xuanyuan Rui. Having not encountered many people before and following Hu Lingyun solely for protection meant he was unaware that this ignorance could actually be beneficial. 0

"Heh heh, I am Shui Moli," Xuanyuan Rui replied nonchalantly with another name and smiled as he asked, "May I ask how to address you?" 0

"What are you doing here?" Qing Luan did not answer; she was now a wild child and didn't need to adhere to many formalities. 0

"Hunting!" Seeing her hold onto her prey and ask so matter-of-factly, Xuanyuan Rui could only look up at the sky in disbelief, feeling utterly speechless. 0

"Who allowed you to come hunting in the mountains? Where did you come from?" This mountain was his property, and he hadn't noticed any signs of passage when he arrived. She must have entered from another place. He thought to mention it to the village chief later; this area was now hers, and others should be prohibited from entering to avoid damaging what was on the mountain. 0

To her, the treasures of this mountain were worth far more than the expensive young master before her. 0

"Uh!" Xuanyuan Rui's forehead was covered in black lines as he struggled to keep up with her rapid-fire questions. His mind felt a bit frozen, and after a long hesitation, he finally explained, "This place has no owner; no one needs permission. As for how I got here... anyone with feet can come up." After so many days here, today was definitely the most interesting. 0
