A new day begins, but despite the pleasant words, Qing Luan was completely stunned when she saw the mess filling the room. 0

"Who are you...?" As Qing Luan resigned herself to tidying up the chaos with Qin'er, something blocked the dim doorway, plunging the space into darkness. A trembling voice broke the silence, causing both Qing Luan and Qin'er to turn and look at the person who had suddenly appeared. 0

An old, hunched man held the hand of a little girl, around four or five years old. He gazed at them with wary, nervous, and fearful eyes, but there was no hostility. 0

"Old man, do you live here?" Qing Luan asked, noticing the obvious concern in his eyes and vaguely guessing what might be troubling him. 0

"I... I... The village chief said my granddaughter and I had no place to stay, so he let us live here," the old woman explained cautiously, her tone suggesting she felt pressured by the village chief. 0

"Ah..." Qing Luan understood her implication and recognized what she feared. "Old lady, I am the owner of this house and will be living here from now on," she said. Seeing the old woman hold her breath in tension, she smiled and continued, "There are several rooms in this hut. You and your granddaughter can stay just as you did before; I won't chase you away." 0

It was better to clarify things to prevent her from overthinking. 0

"Then... then..." The old woman's tension didn't ease; instead, she became even more reserved. 0

"And you won't need to pay any money," Qing Luan added, feeling exhausted. 0

"Thank you, young lady! You are truly a kind person!" The old woman began to kneel with her granddaughter, but both Qing Luan and Qin'er stopped her. 0

Through their conversation with the old woman, Qing Luan learned some details about her life. The old woman's surname was Liu (from now on referred to as Liu Grandma), and her little granddaughter was named Tide. Tide was an orphan born after her parents had passed away under tragic circumstances. 0

Originally, the Liu family was considered well-off in the village. Liu Grandma's husband had died early on, leaving her to raise their son through hard work. Her son was dutiful, and his wife was kind; they lived happily together. However, her son's job as a fisherman meant that their livelihood depended on a small boat. They had enough to eat until a few years ago when her son went out fishing and never returned. At that time, his pregnant wife gave birth to Little Tide in a state of fear and anxiety but also passed away shortly after. Now only they remained, relying on each other for support. 0

Without a head of the family, Liu Grandma was bullied by her relatives. The house and fields gradually slipped away from her grasp, until she had nowhere to live. It was the village chief who couldn't bear to see this, stating that since the Chen Family had not sent anyone to take care of the place, they likely no longer wanted it. He allowed Liu Grandma to stay here with her granddaughter. 0

After hearing Liu Grandma's story, Qing Luan's eyes turned red with emotion. She felt deep sympathy for Tide—a child without parents, like a rootless weed destined to suffer. 0

"Miss," Qin'er said after searching around and feeling somewhat troubled, "there's nothing to eat here..." 0

Upon hearing Qin'er's words, Qing Luan took out a banknote from her sleeve and handed it to her. "Go buy some necessities." 0

"Yes!" Just as Qin'er was about to take the banknote, she was stopped by Liu Grandma. 0

"That's not allowed, that's not allowed," Liu Grandma exclaimed anxiously. 0
