The elderly doctor with a white beard was so furious that his goat-like beard seemed to bristle. He didn't even bother to pick up his medicine box as he clasped his hands in farewell. "My lord, I am but an unworthy old man and fear I am powerless against your daughter's condition. It would be best to seek someone more capable!"
"Doctor, wait..." Liu Chancellor tried to retain him, but the doctor had already left.
Watching Liu Susu still inside the room, throwing things and cursing at her maids, Liu Chancellor could only sigh deeply before seeking out another renowned physician.
This was already the fifth doctor driven away in anger. At this rate, it seemed that no physician in the capital would dare take on the hot potato that was the Liu family.

However, when Gu Bei heard the servant announce that Liu Susu had arrived, he merely scoffed.
"Let her in." He wanted to see what face this woman had left to show before them.
Clearly, Gu Bei was experienced on the battlefield, but he had yet to fully grasp the depths of some people's shamelessness.
Not only did Liu Susu dare to come, but she also chattered incessantly about Ye Xiaohan's faults.

"Save that for yourself; you are more suited to hear it than anyone else!" Gu Bei was not eloquent, but that didn't mean he couldn't express his thoughts. "If you weren't trying to harm others, that poison wouldn't have appeared in the first place. Now you've shot yourself in the foot and can't bear the pain?"
Liu Susu refused to back down. "That's right; I am not a good person. I am malicious and intent on harming others! But what about her? After she knew I wanted to harm her, didn't she go to great lengths to retaliate against me? What difference is there between us?"
Why should she be scorned for making a small mistake while Ye Xiaohan, who had ruined her appearance and reputation, could still stay by Gu Bei's side and one day become the high-ranking general's wife?

Gu Bei's eyes were devoid of warmth as he replied coldly, "She harmed you, so she must accept punishment? What about you? You've harmed her so many times; don't you think you should pay a price?"
"How could that be? Haven't I already paid a little interest on my price?"
Just as Gu Bei finished speaking, a voice came from outside the door, taking over the conversation. Then, a figure slowly walked in with an elegant demeanor—if one could overlook the enormous food box she was carrying.
“Xiao Han!” Gu Bei exclaimed in surprise as he stepped forward. “What brings you here? You’re so busy; if you needed to tell me something, just let me know and I can come over.”
Ye Xiaohan handed him the food box she was carrying. “I noticed you haven’t been eating well lately, so I brought you some food. Eat up while it’s hot.”
“Great!” Gu Bei took the food box and opened it. “It’s all my favorites. Thank you!”
Ye Xiaohan helped take out the bowls and chopsticks, smiling as she said, “No need to mention it; I just whipped it up quickly, didn’t take much time.”
Gu Bei looked at the chicken soup that had simmered for only a few hours, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
The two of them were completely engrossed in their affectionate display, completely ignoring Liu Susu nearby, who was fuming with anger, her eyes turning red.

Liu Susu tried to advance again, but Gu Bei stood firmly in her way. In the General’s residence, with the home advantage, there was no way Liu Susu could gain the upper hand.
