"Quickly arrange for the personnel to return to the residence and find Liu Yang. Tell him everything," Gu Bei instructed.
Upon hearing this, Liu Yang was taken aback, followed by a wave of regret. "It's all my fault! I noticed something was off with Sister-in-law's schedule earlier. She should have been back by now. I thought she was just having a spat with Big Brother and was deliberately coming back late!"
If only he had realized sooner, Ye Xiaohan could have been saved earlier.
"This isn't your fault. The ones who harmed Xiao Han will pay for their actions!" Gu Bei said firmly. "You stay in touch with my people in the Gu Family. If they come looking for you, don't panic."
After giving Liu Yang his instructions, Gu Bei dashed into the night; Ye Xiaohan was waiting for his rescue, and he couldn't afford to waste any time.
Meanwhile, inside the palace, Murong Jing was interrogating Shangyang Princess, trying to extract information from her.
Shangyang Princess was already feeling guilty, and after Murong Jing caught her in a lie, she stammered and struggled to cover it up but ultimately failed to keep it hidden.
"Alright, I'll tell you!" In the end, Shangyang Princess had no choice but to reveal that Liu Susu had come to see her and that she had captured Ye Xiaohan.
Murong Jing was nearly driven mad by his foolish sister. He poked her on the head forcefully. "Have you even thought this through? Why do you believe everything others say? Do you know what kind of person Liu Susu is? You've been sold out by her and are still helping her count the money!"
Although Liu Susu's clandestine activities were suppressed under the Liu Family's control and hadn't spread widely, it didn't mean that no one knew about them. Those who needed to know were all aware.
Murong Jing was certainly one of them. He had a very low opinion of Liu Susu and had never been keen on seeing his sister associate with someone like her.

"That's why I think you're foolish!" Murong Jing exclaimed angrily. "Do you really believe Liu Susu would be so kind? Helping you vent your frustrations and come up with solutions is just a way for her to shift the blame onto you. Her true aim is to deal with Ye Xiaohan!"
The Shangyang Princess was taken aback. She couldn't imagine Liu Susu being that kind of person, but her elder brother wouldn't lie to her about such matters.
"What... what should we do?" the Shangyang Princess asked nervously, glancing at Murong Jing. "I didn't mean to do anything serious to her; I just wanted to teach her a lesson..."
Murong Jing grabbed the Shangyang Princess and pulled her outside. "What else can we do? We need to hurry over there as fast as we can! If something really happens to Ye Xiaohan, just wait and see if Gu Bei won't kill you with a single sword strike!"
"Oh, oh!" The Shangyang Princess hurried ahead, leading the way. "I remember where that warehouse is; I'll take you there!"
As everyone anxiously searched for Ye Xiaohan's whereabouts, her efforts finally bore fruit.
The hairpin had fallen at Ye Xiaohan's feet amidst the chaos. Seizing the moment when no one was paying attention, she struggled to pick it up and activated the mechanism inside.
The commotion in the warehouse prevented those inside from hearing the sound of the signal flare shooting into the sky, but everyone saw the bright light streaking past.
Before they could react, an explosion echoed through the air, and this time they heard it loud and clear.
Following the explosion, dazzling fireworks erupted in the sky. They weren't particularly large but were exceptionally bright, causing everyone present to instinctively close their eyes against the blinding light.
Ye Xiaohan let out a sigh of relief; the signal flare had been fired, and Gu Bei would soon come to rescue her. She just needed to hold on a little longer.
"Smack!" Liu Susu finally reacted and angrily struck Ye Xiaohan. "Bitch, what is this? Who are you trying to send a message to?"
Ye Xiaohan sneered. "If you're curious, feel free to stay here and see who comes."
A sarcastic smile appeared on her lips. "But looking at what you've done, you're like a rat crossing the street—absolutely too afraid to expose yourself in front of others! Don't worry; I won't miss a single thing you've done. I'll make sure to spread everything you've done far and wide!"
What does it matter if it's the Liu Family? Can they protect Liu Susu for a lifetime?
"Bitch!" Liu Susu glared at Ye Xiaohan, then anxiously looked up. The signal flare had already disappeared, leaving only a faint smell of gunpowder lingering in the air, drifting around the warehouse.
At the moment the signal flare exploded, Gu Bei noticed.
"Over there! Pass the order down, hurry over, prioritize the safety of the hostage!" Gu Bei commanded as he galloped towards the direction of the signal flare.
On the way, Murong Jing and Shangyang Princess also saw it. Shangyang Princess pointed towards the signal flare and shouted, "It's that way! Ye Xiaohan is locked up in an abandoned warehouse nearby!"
Murong Jing urged his horse forward while feeling a chill in his heart. He recognized that this was Gu Bei's signal flare and was shocked at how much Ye Xiaohan weighed in Gu Bei's mind.
Liu Susu had seen many valuable things before and could naturally tell how rare this item was. That kind of bright light could probably be seen throughout the city.
No matter who gave this thing to Ye Xiaohan, it wouldn't be an ordinary person. Based on Liu Susu's speculation, it was either Gu Bei or the Third Prince. Either one was someone she couldn't afford to offend.
"Master, should we leave quickly?" a subordinate asked fearfully. They didn't know where the signal flare came from; just that bright light had frightened them.
Liu Susu was unwilling to give up; she was so close to making Ye Xiaohan completely disappear from this world. Was she really going to let it slip away?
"Ye Xiaohan, don't get too smug," Liu Susu said as she pulled a dagger from her pocket and stepped closer. "Even if they see it and rush over, they will need time. In that time, I have enough opportunity to kill you several times!"
Ye Xiaohan stared at her and replied, "Are you sure? Perhaps you've miscalculated a bit. If you kill me and can't escape in time, what will you do? If someone sees you with a weapon, covered in blood, caught red-handed—what then?"
"Shut up! That won't happen! You're just trying to buy time; I'm going to kill you!" Liu Susu gripped the dagger tightly, raising it high as she prepared to stab down.
In that instant, Ye Xiaohan even caught a glimpse of the sharp blade glinting coldly in the light.
Is it too late? She never expected to die at the hands of such an insignificant person; it was a disgrace in her life! However, she was powerless now, only able to stare at the dagger while silently praying for Gu Bei to arrive a little faster.
"Sister, it's bad! Someone is coming! They're riding a horse and will be here soon! Sister, we need to go!" At that moment, a maid rushed in, panic-stricken.
Liu Susu was startled, and the dagger fell from her hand, barely grazing Ye Xiaohan as it clattered to the ground.
"Idiot!" Liu Susu cursed, not even sure who she was cursing. She lacked the courage to pick up the dagger again. While she would have been pleased to kill Ye Xiaohan, she wouldn't agree if it meant risking her own life. Ye Xiaohan was just a worthless life; how could she be on equal footing with her?
"We're leaving!" Faced with personal danger, Liu Susu immediately abandoned the thrill of killing Ye Xiaohan. "Don't think this is the end. If I can catch you once, I can catch you a thousand times! Ye Xiaohan, this is a fight to the death between us!"
After throwing down her threat, Liu Susu led her group away through the pre-planned escape route under the cover of darkness.
Once Liu Susu and her group disappeared into the night, the warehouse fell silent again, leaving Ye Xiaohan alone to kneel on the ground in exhaustion.
"A fight to the death?" Ye Xiaohan mulled over those words and couldn't help but let out a cold laugh. "Indeed, it will be a fight to the death, but you will be the one who dies!"
"Ye Xiaohan!" The door of the warehouse was suddenly slammed open with great force. The already rickety old door flew off its hinges and crashed to the ground.
Murong Jing burst in from outside, followed closely by Shangyang Princess.
