The great demon wolf Soul Seal is temporarily unharmed, so Grandpa and Grandma lifted the barrier. Xuan Xiaowei stood in the corner of the room, her shoulders trembling slightly as she involuntarily clenched her fists.
As for Xiao Bai, he turned back into the little cat with fur as white as snow, lying on the ground with narrowed eyes, looking a bit puzzled.
Grandpa and grandma stood at the other end of the room, their eyes intertwined, their expressions so deep that it was almost suffocating.
"In my lifetime, I never expected to see the existence of demons, and to think they are the spirit pets tamed by our own people. Truly, I have no regrets in this life," Grandpa's tone was filled with a mixture of astonishment and joy.
Grandma gently patted Grandpa's hand, her lips curling up slightly, but her gaze was as if probing into an unfathomable mystery.
"Is the prophecy left behind long ago really true?" Grandma asked, her brows furrowed, looking at the bronze box in her hand. She couldn't help but ponder, everything in these days seemed like a tangled spider web, intricate and puzzling.
Regarding the prophecy about the last descendant of goddess, the White Tiger, the awakening of the great demon, and the weakening of the seal... It seems that all the conditions may now be in place, with only the final step remaining—successfully activating the legendary prophecy array.
Grandma tightly held the talisman in her hand and whispered to grandpa, "This little tiger demon doesn't have any evil aura. It seems to be a benevolent demon. But why did it appear here, and why does it have such a deep connection with Xiao Wei?"
"I'm afraid this is fate's arrangement," grandpa sighed deeply. "We all know that the goddess bloodline and demons complement each other. As long as there are no more demons in the world, the goddess's bloodline will no longer be needed."
Grandma nodded slowly, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes: "Xiaowei's bloodline is already very thin. We thought the era of goddess had passed, but now it seems that things are not so simple."
Suddenly, Xiaowei let out a low growl, as if sensing the tense atmosphere in the air.
Xuan Xiaowei walked to his grandparents and said gently, "Grandpa, grandma, now is not the time to worry. We should think about how to proceed. Wolf Demon Soul has awakened, and I have a young Tiger demon by my side. Perhaps this is fate telling us that the goddess bloodline still has an unfinished mission."
Grandpa patted Xuan Xiaowei's shoulder and gave a kind smile, "Yes, we do need to activate the legendary prophecy array."
The atmosphere in the room suddenly became solemn, and everyone's gaze focused on the bronze box.
"The prophecy circle is located on the first floor. If all the conditions are met, then we can activate it. However, remember, once it's activated, there's no turning back," Grandma said solemnly.
Xuan Xiaowei looked at the bronze box intently, took a deep breath, and then glanced at Xiaobai and his grandparents.
"Since this is fate, let's go then," Xuan Xiaowei said finally.
Night falls, and the lights inside the temple tower are dim, giving off a solemn and mysterious atmosphere.
Xuan Xiaowei holds a white tiger in his arms, following closely behind his grandparents as they descend the wooden stairs.
Along the way, various small altar bottles and sculptures are placed on the walls on both sides of the stairs. What is particularly impressive is that they all have colorful tattered talismans affixed to their heads.
These talismans seem to have a life of their own, like beleaguered warriors tasked with suppressing the unspeakable things inside those jars. Some of the vessels even emit a low, buzzing sound, as if they are struggling to break free from their seals.
"These are..." Xuan Xiaowei couldn't help but speak, a sense of unease enveloping her, causing her voice to tremble slightly.
"Shh, don't speak. You'll understand in a moment," Grandpa replied, his voice filled with an unquestionable seriousness.
At the bottom of the stairs, Grandma stopped and approached a stone wall.
She suddenly bit her index finger, slowly writing a series of intricate symbols on the stone wall. After finishing, the stone wall seemed to be summoned by some mysterious force, slowly retreating to reveal a well-hidden passage.
"Let's go," Grandma said succinctly, then took the lead into the passage.
This passage describes a channel that is not like a typical one, but more like a long and narrow tunnel. The walls on both sides are stacked with stones, covered in moss and mold. The ground is paved with stones, and the top is supported by wooden beams. Soon, an ancient wooden door appears at the end of the channel.
The basement is as ancient as the temple itself, but it exudes an even heavier sense of mystery. In the center of the basement is a large magic circle, surrounded by various books, scrolls, and altar tools.
Xuan Xiaowei clutched the white tiger tightly as she followed her grandparents into this unknown space, feeling a vague sense of unease.
The passage is full of spider webs, and the air seems to be filled with an ancient and mysterious atmosphere, as if no one has been here for a long time.
Before long, they arrived at a spacious basement, with a finely drawn magic circle in the center, and a stone basin on each side connected to the circle.
Xuan Xiaowei's heart raced as she felt an indescribable energy in the air.
"What we need to do is to complete it here," Grandpa said in a deep voice.
Xuan Xiaowei followed closely behind, but her heart was filled with unease. When she stepped into another space, she was surprised to find a delicate magic circle. On either side of the magic circle were two small basins, like containers meant to catch something.
Grandma then took out a piece of purple fabric and laid it in the center of the magic circle.
"Sitting here, holding the white tiger," Grandma instructed, her face expressionless.
Xuan Xiaowei hesitated for a moment, but ultimately sat as instructed, holding the white tiger tightly in her arms, as if it could bring her some comfort. The white tiger seemed to sense some unease, letting out a faint growl.
"Everything is for you," Grandpa said, taking out a small knife decorated with various talismans and gemstones.
"Wait, what are you going to do?" Xuan Xiaowei felt a little uneasy.
They began chanting an ancient spell, and her voice resonated through the entire space, creating a magical resonance with the magic circle.
The next scene almost stunned Xuan Xiaowei. Grandpa and grandma each took out a small knife and cut their own fingers. A large amount of fresh blood gushed out, quickly flowing into the small stone basins on either side, and then flowing towards the magic circle.
Their faces revealed a deep and solemn expression, as if they were performing a very important ritual.
"Grandpa, grandma! What are you doing?" Xuan Xiaowei shouted, attempting to stand up and escape. "You must stop, you'll bleed to death if it continues like this!"
But as soon as she finished speaking, she felt a force holding her and the white tiger tightly in place, almost unable to move.
At this moment, she finally realized that this ritual was far more important and dangerous than she had imagined.
"This is our lifelong mission, dear granddaughter. Once you go over there, you must be cautious. Unless you successfully awaken the goddess bloodline, you must not come back, understood?" Grandma's voice carried a deep sense of sadness and determination.
Suddenly, the magic circle emitted a dazzling light, and with one final long howl from Grandma, it reached its climax. A deafening roar erupted, causing the entire basement to shake and dust to fly.
Everything seems to have come to a halt, with only the radiance of the magic circle growing brighter and brighter.
At this moment, the power of the magic circle erupts, and a tremendous energy surges from the bottom of the circle, reaching all the way to the top before condensing once again into a massive ball of light. The ball of light rapidly contracts and ultimately disappears into the bodies of Xuan Xiaowei and Xiao Bai.
Then, everything turned pitch black.
Xuan Xiaowei felt as if he were being sucked into a vortex by a tremendous force, his whole body spinning uncontrollably.
Her consciousness gradually became blurred, and her vision also began to blur. Before losing consciousness completely, the last image she saw was her grandfather and grandmother lying in a pool of blood, their faces filled with deep regret and love.
Then, she couldn't see anything anymore.
