"That's different," Liu Yang said as he sat down to enjoy his porridge. "The White Maiden is so pitiful. She's been harmed so badly, and now that we've saved her, we should treat her a little better."
Ye Xiaohan nodded in agreement. "That's true. If the people around her express friendly intentions, it will help her recovery."
After breakfast, Ye Xiaohan went to groom Bai Rong'er and bring her food, while Liu Yang went to rouse Liu Qi from bed. At that moment, Aunt Zhang arrived to lend a hand.

After the recent disturbances, the restaurant had been damaged but was now ready to reopen after some repairs. They needed to arrive a bit earlier to prepare.
They conducted final arrangements with the staff who had come along and got everything started.
It was only a brief disruption, not long enough for customers to forget about Cup Mo Ting Restaurant. On the contrary, due to all the commotion surrounding the establishment, it attracted even more patrons.
This could be considered a blessing in disguise. Ye Xiaohan stood at the counter, checking orders while occasionally glancing at the bustling restaurant, which was busier than before. Along with his happiness, there was also a hint of helplessness.
If Boss Yan knew about this outcome, he might just spit blood in frustration, Ye Xiaohan thought with a smirk as he clicked his abacus.
However, Boss Yan was still locked up and likely unaware of the situation. But there was someone else who was furious.
That person was Liu Susu, who had schemed against Ye Xiaohan and had even sought out Boss Yan's cooperation to stir up trouble for him.
She originally thought she had found a way to catch Ye Xiaohan off guard.
As long as Boss Yan caused a scene, even if he couldn't reclaim the shop, he could ruin Ye Xiaohan financially. She believed that destroying the restaurant would leave Ye Xiaohan with nothing.
Moreover, she had secretly instructed some thugs to be ruthless and take down anyone who got in their way; she would bear the consequences.
Unexpectedly, what she thought was a foolproof plan ended up having flaws, allowing Ye Xiaohan to escape unscathed.
“Bitch! Bitch!” Liu Susu swept everything within reach to the ground, shattering items into countless pieces.
Why would the Third Prince stand up for Ye Xiaohan? That Bitch, has she hooked up with the Third Prince again?
Liu Susu paced around the room, biting her thumbnail until it was ragged, with some parts even bleeding.
“No way, I can’t let this go! I can’t let that Bitch get away with it!” Liu Susu's mind raced with malicious thoughts, wishing to see Ye Xiaohan kneeling before her, crying and begging for mercy.
After a while, Liu Susu stopped, her expression twisted, looking as if she were both laughing and crying at the same time.
“Ye Xiaohan, don’t think that just because you have a man backing you up, you can rest easy! This time, let’s see who can save you!”
Fueled by jealousy towards Ye Xiaohan, Liu Susu quickly set her plan into motion.
Meanwhile, Ye Xiaohan returned home as usual before dinner. The tavern would stay open a bit later in the evening, but as a married woman, she rarely stayed out late; it was usually the staff who took turns working late shifts.
She walked down the same street she had traversed countless times before; she could find her way back even with her eyes closed.
However, halfway there, an instinct made her feel uneasy. She sensed that someone might be following her.
This feeling didn’t last long. As Ye Xiaohan noticed pedestrians on the street, she thought they wouldn’t dare do anything and considered whether to take a detour through a side street before heading home.
Just then, the footsteps behind her suddenly quickened and soon were right on her heels.
Before Ye Xiaohan could react in surprise, she felt a sharp pain at the back of her head as darkness enveloped her.
In those last few moments of trying to stay conscious, she realized she had been attacked.
The world faded into dim darkness, gradually giving way to threads of pain. After the initial sting of pain appeared, it surged back like a spider web creeping all over her body.
It hurts.
Ye Xiaohan let out a groan, realizing something was off. It seemed she had woken up?
She closed her eyes for a moment and then, with great effort, tried to slowly open them.
As she managed to crack her eyes open just a bit, she saw several pairs of different feet in front of her. There were people nearby!
She remained still, continuing to pretend to be unconscious while quietly observing her surroundings.
The first sensation was that her mouth was stuffed with something foreign. From the texture, it felt like a wad of cloth.
Next, she attempted to move her limbs and quickly realized, from the numbness in her body, that her hands and feet were tied.
Squinting through the small gap, she could see enough to deduce that there were at least five men around her based on the sounds they made.
It seemed there was no need for further reasoning; she understood her current predicament.
She had been kidnapped.
By whom? The obvious method of operation indicated that someone had orchestrated this. If she had simply crossed paths with random thugs, they wouldn't have had the audacity to knock her out and abduct her in broad daylight.
They would have likely forced their target into a more secluded corner first to make their move.
Ye Xiaohan felt incredibly unlucky. What had she done to deserve this? All she wanted was to live a stable life, yet from the very beginning, things had been anything but stable!
She merely wanted to earn some money and enjoy life before thinking about her future path. She hadn’t offended anyone at all!
As Ye Xiaohan silently screamed in her mind, the thugs nearby grew impatient.
"Why isn't this woman awake yet? Is she going to be beaten to death?" one voice said. "I've told you all before, don't go too hard! You all forgot what happened last time when we nearly killed her and didn't get the ransom?"
"As if you weren't involved!" another voice retorted. "You're so skilled at controlling your strength, why don't you do it yourself? You just stand by and criticize while we do the work. Do you think you're so special?"
Are they turning on each other? Ye Xiaohan felt a surge of hope; as long as they were fighting among themselves, her chances of escaping would increase significantly.
But her hopes were dashed quickly.
Seeing the two arguing, several others rushed over to mediate.
"Stop arguing, we're all brothers here. There's no need to get worked up over a small matter!"
"Right, right! Don't fight. Let me check; this woman was still breathing earlier, she won't die so easily. I'll take a look."
Ye Xiaohan was startled and immediately closed her eyes, trying not to give anything away.
Footsteps approached her closer and closer until a kick landed on her body.
In that moment of impact, Ye Xiaohan slightly twisted her body so that the kick hit her arm instead of her chest or abdomen.
"Cough, cough!" Ye Xiaohan pretended to cough a couple of times and slowly opened her eyes.
"She's awake!" The thugs gathered around as soon as they saw Ye Xiaohan open her eyes.
"I told you I wasn't dead!" The same voice stepped forward and kicked Ye Xiaohan again, seemingly enjoying the victim's pain.
Ye Xiaohan felt a surge of anger and wanted to break this person's leg, but she was tightly bound and couldn't move at all; she could only endure the torment.
She feigned a look of terror, trying hard to remember the features of these thugs so she could take revenge on them later.
She struggled like an ordinary victim, making whimpering sounds.
Her reaction seemed to greatly please the thugs, successfully lowering their guard against her, giving her more opportunities to escape.
One thug, seemingly unsatisfied, pulled the cloth from Ye Xiaohan's mouth and said, "My dear, don't blame your brothers. If you must blame someone, blame yourself for provoking the wrong people."
"Why waste time with her? Let's get on with the important business; we were paid for this!" Another thug pushed the first one aside and shoved the cloth back into Ye Xiaohan's mouth.
Although Ye Xiaohan wasn't a germaphobe, she had never had the habit of picking up food from the ground! She felt nauseous at the thought and nearly vomited.
However, even more terrifying things were yet to come. Just as Ye Xiaohan was feeling unwell, one thug grabbed the corner of her clothing and yanked it hard, tearing a large part of her outer garment and exposing what lay beneath.
Ye Xiaohan was startled. Did these people have intentions beyond just kidnapping her for ransom? Was it not enough to beat her up for no reason; did they want to do something even more horrific?
No matter how calm Ye Xiaohan tried to be, facing the possibility of a tragic fate made her heart race with anxiety.
Could it really be as she feared?
As if amused by the panic in Ye Xiaohan's eyes, one thug squatted down, patted her face, and grinned wickedly. "My dear, your brothers will soon come to take care of you. Just don't cry or make a fuss. If you get too loud, your brothers might get angry!"
