A loud roar suddenly silenced the room. Noticing the massive body pressing down on me had loosened, I seized the opportunity to push it away with all my strength.
Seeing me make a move, the large woman on top of me became furious and twisted her body, preparing to pounce on me again.
However, before she could act, she was grabbed by the hand by the man who had rushed back.
The woman was clearly displeased with this action and shouted at him, "Hey, Lu Bei. What’s wrong with you? Are you going to hit a woman?"
At her shout, Lu Bei paused his movements.
Lying on the bed, Ye Xiaohan couldn't help but roll her eyes repeatedly, silently complaining that Lu Yubei was too indecisive. She hoped that the large woman would leave soon so they could have some peace.
Seeing Lu Bei stop, the woman smugly shook her head and put her hands on her hips, shouting, "Lu Family Brothers, don’t say I didn’t warn you. What do you want with such a shameless and despicable person? I advise you to kick her out while you can. If you think it’s not right for a big man to take action, Sister Liu will help you out today. Just have that little wild rabbit thank me later."
When Ye Xiaohan had entered earlier, she noticed several wild rabbits hanging outside the door along with hunting bows and arrows. It seemed that the men of the Lu Family were hunters. Although she had just arrived in this era, it didn't mean she was naive. Hunting a few rabbits wasn’t easy in these times; it took guts for this woman to speak up like that.
If it weren't for her aching body and lack of strength, she would have definitely knocked that woman flat on her back.
Seeing Lu Bei remain silent and not rebutting her, the woman's confidence grew bolder as she charged toward Ye Xiaohan's position, swinging her thick arms as if to grab her.
Ye Xiaohan secretly tightened her grip on the fine needle in her hand. If that woman dared to make a move, she would stab the needle straight into her eye. Worst case scenario, they would both suffer; regardless of what happened, she refused to be bullied.
As the woman leaned closer, Lu Bei finally made his move.
In a flash, he grabbed the large woman and pulled her away from Ye Xiaohan before she even realized what was happening.
Lu Bei's face darkened, his expression solemn. Even Ye Xiaohan, who was used to seeing life and death situations, felt a chill run down her spine—let alone that village woman.
Sister Liu was intimidated by Lu Bei's presence and halted her actions, not daring to approach Ye Xiaohan.
Lying on the bed, Ye Xiaohan was also stunned. The murderous aura surrounding Lu Bei was unlike anything ordinary. Upon reflection, perhaps it was because he was accustomed to hunting that he exuded such an imposing presence.
A crowd of villagers gathered around, covering their mouths as they watched the spectacle unfold, exchanging laughter and insults directed at Fat Woman and Sister Liu. This made Sister Liu's face flush with anger, and she placed her hands on her hips, shouting at Lu Bei.
"Lu Bei, you think you can mess with me today? I'm telling you, if you don't let me deal with this shameless vixen properly, we won't be done with each other."
"You dare!"
A loud roar made the flesh on Sister Liu's face jiggle.
Lying in bed, Ye Xiaohan felt a flicker of warmth in her heart. She had inexplicably arrived in this era, facing beatings and curses from every eccentric person she encountered. Thankfully, she had met this rural hunter; otherwise, she would have been in real trouble. She silently vowed to repay this hunter once she got better.
"What are you doing here, you foolish woman?"
A rough male voice broke the standoff. A tall man in coarse blue linen burst into the room, his body reeking of sweat.
Ye Xiaohan could smell the foul odor even from her position on the bed and couldn't help but cover her nose in silence.
Seeing the newcomer, Sister Liu let out a wail and dropped to her knees, crying and cursing, leaving everyone present at a loss for words.
Lu Bei, being a big man, found it difficult to handle such a scene and suddenly felt quite awkward.
Feeling the man's gaze upon her, Ye Xiaohan's stomach churned uncomfortably, and she fought back nausea. From Fat Woman's earlier curses, she had gathered some context. She couldn't understand why her host had chosen to pursue this smelly man instead of Lu Bei.
She couldn't help but glance back at Lu Bei. Although his face bore a large scar that made him look somewhat intimidating, he was still far more appealing than that overwhelmingly odorous brute.
In an unexpected turn of events, Sister Liu stood up and shoved her man hard. The tall man stumbled forward and fell onto Ye Xiaohan. As he collapsed, the stench from his armpits hit her like a wave; she felt as though she might suffocate from the smell alone. Rolling her eyes in exasperation and feeling too weak to push him off, she could only look to Lu Bei for help.
Earlier, Lu Bei had noticed Ye Xiaohan glancing at Liu the Strong and assumed she was still interested in another man, which displeased him. However, seeing the disgust in her eyes now brought him some relief.
Ye Xiaohan could no longer hold back and pleaded earnestly with Lu Bei, "Help me!"
Lu Bei pulled Liu the Strong off Ye Xiaohan while Sister Liu continued to make a scene. Realizing that Ye Xiaohan was truly about to lose it, Lu Bei finally snapped. Grabbing a doorstop from nearby, he shouted at both of them, "Get out of here! Otherwise, don't blame me for being rough!"
Lu Bei was already quite robust, and now with the huge piece of wood in his hand, he exuded a fierce aura. The two people opposite him were intimidated, and it seemed Lu Bei had a keen eye; he took the opportunity to push them both out. Even the villagers who had gathered to watch were frightened by Lu Bei, and he seized the moment to close the door, ignoring Sister Liu's shouts and curses from outside.
The room fell silent, and Ye Xiaohan, lying on the bed with only half her breath left, felt a bit more at ease. However, she quickly sensed that Lu Bei was not in a good mood.
In this unfamiliar environment, for the sake of her safety, Ye Xiaohan naturally couldn't confront Lu Bei directly. She silently lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling without saying a word.
Faced with such a soft rebuttal, Lu Bei found himself at a loss. Under Ye Xiaohan's sparkling gaze, he inexplicably felt a bit hot and worried that if she continued looking at him like that, he might embarrass himself.
With a sudden movement, he stood up.
Seeing him move, Ye Xiaohan anxiously spoke up, "You..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Lu Bei interrupted her. "Stay put; I'll go prepare some medicine for you."
With that, Lu Bei stormed out of the room. Ye Xiaohan lay on the bed staring at the ceiling, recalling Lu Bei's image and quietly smiling to herself. This rugged man was rather interesting.
Bang!
A hard object flew toward Ye Xiaohan's head. She let out a startled cry just as she was about to curse when a childish voice beat her to it.
"You bad woman, I'll kill you..."
Hearing the innocent voice, Ye Xiaohan turned her head to look.
By the door stood a little girl about five or six years old. Her face was dirty except for her two round eyes that sparkled with spirit. In her small black hands were several stones raised as if ready to throw at Ye Xiaohan.
Noticing her movement, Ye Xiaohan shot her an intimidating glare.
Lu Xiaoqi shrank back at the look and dropped the stones on the ground, pouting as tears threatened to spill. That woman's gaze was too terrifying; recalling everything that had happened before made her feel scared.
"You bad woman, don’t bully my sister."
Before Ye Xiaohan could make a move, a young boy rushed out, positioning himself between the two and shielding the little girl.
Lu Xiaoqi quickly reached out with her dark hand, tugging at the boy while casting a wary glance at Ye Xiaohan. She whispered, "Second Brother, be careful. This woman could be dangerous."
Ye Xiaohan observed the boy. Though he was young, there was an air of determination about him. Given time, he might achieve something significant. She couldn't help but speculate about his identity.
"What are you two doing?"
Lu Bei's sudden appearance startled both children, who respectfully called out, "Elder Brother!"
Lu Bei nodded at them and handed the medicine to Ye Xiaohan.
The unpleasant smell of the medicine hit her, making Ye Xiaohan feel nauseous, so she refrained from reaching out to take it.
Seeing her hesitation, Lu Bei assumed she lacked the strength to drink it and proceeded to feed her directly.
This action not only surprised Ye Xiaohan but also left the two children in shock. They remembered how their wicked sister-in-law would jump at the slightest approach from their brother. Now she was actually allowing him to hold her—had she truly lost her mind?
Unaware of the children's thoughts, Ye Xiaohan would have stood up to confront them if she had known.
After feeding her the medicine, Lu Bei stepped outside, leaving the three of them staring at each other in silence. Ye Xiaohan decided to ignore the past grievances between her body’s former owner and the two children for now and closed her eyes to rest.
Unexpectedly, the boy took action first, stepping in front of Ye Xiaohan and narrowing his eyes as he coldly asked, "Who exactly are you?"
