On the day the child turned one hundred, Lang Ye held a grand banquet, and Tang Zisu along with Horse Abdomen took the little baby to the Prairie.
They arrived a day early, and Softy and Lang Ye came out to greet them from afar. Tang Zisu and Softy hadn't seen each other for quite some time, and now both had changed in each other's eyes. With a smile exchanged, it seemed they shared all the sweet and bitter experiences of the years.
Tang Zisu took the child from Horse Abdomen's hands to let him bow to Lang Ye. Although the child was only five years old, he had a head full of long black hair. Tang Zisu gathered all his hair up and tied it into a high ponytail with a white ribbon, revealing a fair and plump forehead along with a small widow's peak. Despite his young age, his face already showed defined features; beneath his dark brows were bright green eyes that appeared clear and indifferent, resembling a miniature version of Kong Xuan. He bent down to kneel and called out "Uncle" clearly and crisply, prompting Lang Ye to pull him into his arms.
The child furrowed his brow slightly when held by Lang Ye; he seemed to dislike being close to others. He shrank back but suddenly saw Tang Zisu shaking her head at him, so he raised his arm and patted Lang Ye's shoulder.
Softy whispered, "This child not only looks like Ming Wang, but his temperament is similar too; they truly are father and son."
Tang Zisu replied, "You haven't seen his grandfather Phoenix; this Brat is just like him. Kong Xuan is cold on the outside but warm on the inside, while this child seems icy both inside and out. At just five years old, he’s already distant from me; nowadays, he clings to Vine Lily all day."
At this moment, the child had already wriggled out of Lang Ye's embrace and stepped back to stand beside Horse Abdomen. The two of them wore similar blank expressions.
Tang Zisu shook her head; she was nearly driven mad by these two treasures. She took Softy's hand and said, "Come on, let's go see your children. I have gifts prepared for the little ones."
Softy chuckled awkwardly, "If the clothes and shoes you prepared are for them, they won't need them; they don’t wear clothes."
Tang Zisu had known this all along. She smiled and said, "Now you’ve got your wish fulfilled; you used to only like one Ahei, but now there are three little Aheis."
Once children were mentioned, mothers always had endless topics to discuss. The two women linked arms and chatted away without pause. Upon entering Wolf Fortress, Lang Ye immediately served tea that was neither too hot nor too cold—his work was truly commendable.
However, Softy couldn't be bothered with tea and immediately led Tang Zisu to the back hall to see the children. Tang Zisu reluctantly dragged Little Mian Tan along.
On the soft couch in the room lay three little wolves and a baby sleeping soundly with their heads together and paws in the air. The little wolves had perked ears, small black noses, and their soft fur was shiny black. In contrast, the baby was as pure white as snow—a soft bundle resembling Softy—except for a small tail; otherwise, he looked like an ordinary child.
As Softy leaned down to give them a sweet kiss, the three little wolves suddenly opened their eyes.
Softy gasped, covering her chest, and quickly hugged the baby close. At the same time, the awakened little wolves sparkled with excitement, howling and tumbling over each other in a playful frenzy.
Feeling embarrassed, Softy immediately wanted to take Tang Zisu outside, but Noodle Stand was stunned and refused to move.
Softy smiled wryly and said, "It’s like this every day. For them, three months is equivalent to three years. They’re either causing a ruckus or biting each other all day long. It’s really annoying. I just don’t know when they’ll be as well-behaved as your baby."
Tang Zisu laughed and replied, "They’re so cute! Look at them, that little appearance is adorable. Baby, do you like them?"
Noodle Stand nodded and looked up at Tang Zisu, asking, "Can I touch them?"
Softy immediately took his hand and said, "Come on, touch them! They will definitely like you, this good child."
"What are their names?"
Softy sighed again, "Speaking of names, what good names can you come up with for them? Lang Ye can only name them A B C D or Little Ding."
Noodle Stand gently reached out to one of the little wolves' chins and said, "That sounds nice. I don’t have a name."
Softy looked up at Tang Zisu, who shook her head. This naming issue had troubled her and the child for a long time. However, she preferred to call him 'baby' rather than give him a name because doing so would mean admitting that Kong Xuan could not be found again.
Noodle Stand still had the heart of a child; he quickly began playing with the little wolves. They all climbed onto him, nuzzling and licking him affectionately.
Tang Zisu and Softy exchanged smiles, knowing that when they grew up, they would be a group of good brothers.
The next day was the banquet for the children's hundredth birthday.
Tang Zisu originally didn't want to go to the front, but Lang Ye said that some deities would be arriving soon, and they might know the whereabouts of Kong Xuan. So, Tang Zisu took Horse Abdomen and Little Mian Tan and sat down in an inconspicuous corner.
The guests gradually arrived. Although Tang Zisu didn't recognize most of them, it was clear that the one with a big belly fanning himself barefoot was the Footloose Immortal.
The Footloose Immortal was talkative and fond of drinking; after a few cups, he became quite chatty. He said to a Daoist beside him, "There have been many joyous events lately. After we finish drinking at Wolf Fortress today, we will go to Snow Mountain tomorrow to celebrate Celestial Maiden's wedding."
Tang Zisu immediately perked up at the mention of Celestial Maiden.
The Daoist asked, "Is Celestial Maiden getting married again? Didn't she marry Kong Xuan, the Great Ming King? Who else would want her now?"
The barefoot man leaned closer and whispered in his ear, "It's still Kong Xuan."
The Daoist exclaimed loudly, "Wasn't it said that Kong Xuan had already perished? How could he be marrying again?"
The barefoot man smacked him lightly with a large fan and said, "Keep your voice down! I heard that on that day, before Kong Xuan's soul completely dissipated, he used a Good Soul Bottle to collect his soul for Celestial Maiden. He even found the Five-Colored Stone from Nuwa to replace his heart. Now he's doing well."
The Daoist slapped his thigh and said, "If that's the case, I must go see for myself."
After hearing all this, Tang Zisu felt uncertain whether to be sad or happy. She sat there in a daze, holding her wine cup as if she were a stone statue. Noodle Stand shook her arm and asked, "Mother, what's wrong with you?"
Tang Zisu came back to her senses and looked seriously at her child. "Tomorrow we are going to Snowy Mountain."
The child asked, "What are we going to do at Snow Mountain?"
"Find your father!"
---
On Jade Brush Peak on the Snowy Mountain, it resembled a pen inserted into the top of the mountain. Tang Zisu looked up and said, "It's right above, dear. Are you ready?"
Little Mian Tan's face was pale, but she bit her lip and nodded vigorously.
Tang Zisu urged the clouds beneath her feet to fly up to Jade Brush Peak.
Here, the sky was as clear as water, and the snowy mountains sparkled brightly, but as they ascended higher, snowflakes began to flutter down.
It was red snow, drifting like the petals of a begonia.
The Celestial Maiden Palace at the summit was filled with festivity; in such a cold place, it was adorned with flowers of various colors, showcasing its extravagance.
Tang Zisu arrived a bit late; the drums and music had already played. Lang Ye, who insisted on coming along, said, "Could it be that they have already entered the bridal chamber?"
Tang Zisu shook her head and led the child inside.
Of course, according to the script, there must be no one blocking their way and no bridal chamber present.
As Tang Zisu entered, she saw the newlyweds in full red attire preparing for their vows.
All Tang Zisu could see was a sea of red. The red house, the red wedding hall, and the red-clad couple blurred her vision with their brightness. She shouted, "Wait a moment!"
Hearing the voice, the groom, who was about to bow in marriage, suddenly straightened up and looked at Tang Zisu in confusion.
Dressed in red with black hair and green eyes, her dark brows high nose and cherry lips resembled spring flowers at dawn. Her figure was ethereal and graceful, with an unmatched demeanor. In the three realms, there was no one like her except Kong Xuan.
Tang Zisu opened her mouth but felt as if asphalt had been poured into her throat, unable to make a sound.
Little Mian Tan gazed at the beauty in red and suddenly felt a swelling in her heart and tears welling in her eyes.
The wedding hall was silent, all the guests holding their breath to witness this long-awaited gossip.
Celestial Maiden Rika hurriedly lifted her red veil and looked at Tang Zisu, who was dressed as a woman, gritting her teeth and saying, "It's you!"
Tang Zisu couldn't see her at all; her eyes were only on the man in red.
After an unknown amount of time, Kong Xuan smiled and spoke, "Auntie, who are you looking for?"
Auntie? How could you call such a young, fair, beautiful woman an aunt? Kong Xuan, you really learned from Xue Rengui!
Little Mian Tan looked at her mother, who was too stunned to speak, and shook her hand, saying, "Mother, he called you aunt."
Tang Zisu cleared her throat a few times before managing to get her voice back. After such a long pause, she felt that the blood in her body finally flowed smoothly. She looked at Kong Xuan and asked, "Are you getting married today?"
Kong Xuan's face was filled with joy as he nodded. "Yes, I'm getting married today. Auntie should stay for a drink to celebrate!"
Before Tang Zisu could respond, Lang Ye suddenly rushed forward, grabbing Kong Xuan by the collar and angrily shouted, "Kong Xuan, what the hell are you pretending for? Your wife is right there; you are not allowed to marry this shameless woman!"
Kong Xuan's fingers rested on Lang Ye's wrist, effortlessly disarming him. He took two steps back and said, "Brother, today is a joyous occasion for me. If you're happy, have a drink; if not, please leave and refrain from insulting my Wife."
Lang Ye looked at him as if he were a stranger. "Kong Xuan, what's wrong? Don't you recognize me? It's Lang Ye, your best brother, Lang Ye."
"Brother, I am Kong Xuan, but I don't know you. Perhaps your friend shares my name."
"You're talking nonsense. We traveled a long way to find you, and you dare to pull this stunt? Kong Xuan, I curse your ancestors!"
Kong Xuan frowned, clearly displeased. "Friend, if you continue like this, don't blame me for being rude."
"Come on! If I don't beat you to a pulp today, I'm not the Wolf King."
Tang Zisu suddenly shouted, "Lang Ye, enough!"
Lang Ye turned around. "Tang Zisu, you don't need to interfere. This fool must have been drugged; I'll knock some sense into him."
"No need for that. He isn't the Kong Xuan we're looking for; you've made a mistake. Let's go!" Tang Zisu took the child's hand and turned to leave the hall. Her eyes were red but she held back her tears.
Little Mian Tan followed her out, his small frame in a white robe standing straight, but he couldn't help but glance back at Kong Xuan.
Kong Xuan watched as the woman’s figure grew more distant. It seemed as though her delicate shoulders bore the weight of a great mountain; each step she took was so difficult. Suddenly, he felt an unbearable pain in his chest that nearly made him unable to stand.
Kong Xuan reached out toward Tang Zisu's retreating figure and called out weakly, "Wait."
