You Were Born a Nobleman, Chapter Sixteen: Intermittent Amnesia
The clan leader suddenly knelt down and shouted, “Divine Maiden has descended, worship Divine Maiden!”
Then, a crowd of people fell to their knees, with only Tang Zisu standing like a wooden post. “Divine Maiden? Descending from the heavens? Is she really not Little Dragon Girl?”
Beauty also looked at Tang Zisu: “Little one, obediently clean yourself up and wait to be my feast!”
What happened next was a blur for Tang Zisu. By the time she regained consciousness, she was back home, while Beauty sat across from her sipping Osmanthus Herbal Tea brewed by Softy.
The clan leader once again placed his hands on his chest in salute. “High Priestess, from now on, Divine Maiden will reside in the Shrine. You must take good care of her.”
Tang Zisu was delighted; she winked at Beauty, who didn’t even lift her eyelids. Her delicate face, so tender it seemed to exude moisture, was enveloped in the steam from the tea, giving her an ethereal quality.
The clan leader cleared his throat a few times and continued, “High Priestess, I kindly ask you to—um—vacate the main house for Divine Maiden.”
“Ah?” Tang Zisu was too busy grinning at Beauty to catch what the clan leader had said.
Softy became anxious: “Clan leader, how can that be? How can we occupy someone else's nest?”
The wrinkles on the clan leader's face twisted from smoothness into a crossroad: “Softy, do not be disrespectful to Divine Lady. From now on, you must serve her diligently.”
Tang Zisu finally understood: "It's fine, it's fine, Softy, I'll sleep with you." The two of them sleeping on the Divine Horse was both warm and cozy, it couldn't be better.
Lang Ye glared at Tang Zisu with wolf-like eyes, thinking that this foolish woman dared to disrupt their world of two; he could bite her to death in an instant.
Beauty elegantly placed the teacup on the table: "There's no need for such trouble, Chief. I'm just a mere mortal and would never dare to claim to be a Divine Maiden, nor can I take the High Priestess's residence. I am grateful for everyone's hospitality. If the High Priestess doesn't mind, I would be willing to serve by her side."
Upon hearing this, Tang Zisu was delighted: "No worries, no worries, Sister Goddess, then let's live together!"
Being able to live with Beauty and eat the meals made by the little beauty—how could crossing over be this enjoyable!
After arranging everything, the Chief took his leave. Tang Zisu generously reminded him without holding a grudge: "Chief, watch where you're going, the sacred tree."
The Chief nodded repeatedly but as soon as he stepped outside, he couldn't help but look up at the sky. Bang! With a loud noise, Tang Zisu and Softy both shrank their necks in unison. After several moments, Beauty slightly leaned forward to look outside, frowning slightly.
After a while, the Chief mumbled as he walked away. Softy took Lang Ye to cook, while Tang Zisu sat down in a way that was particularly un-priestess-like, spreading her legs and resting her chin on the back of the chair. Pouting, she asked: "Sister Goddess, do you have a name? Are you just called Divine Maiden?"
"Kong Xuan."
"That's a beautiful name! Then I'll call you Xuan Xuan. I'm Tang Zisu, and that little beauty who cooks is Softy."
Xuan Xuan repeated her name heavily as if throwing those two words on the ground could bruise two toes.
Tang Zisu asked: "Xuan Xuan, don't you remember me? We met at Peacock Mountain by Peacock Lake; you were bathing at that time. I thought you were drowning and wanted to save you, but I fainted myself."
"I don't remember. My memory is poor, and I often forget things, so please forgive me."
"Then where are you from? Where is your family? Who else is at home? Why were you caught by the giant eagle? How old are you? How tall are you? What is your weight? What are your measurements? What is your blood type? What is your zodiac sign...?"
Kong Xuan: ...........
Tang Zisu scratched his head foolishly, "Sorry, am I asking too many questions?"
Kong Xuan replied coldly, "I've forgotten everything I asked."
"What kind of illness do you have? It sounds like intermittent amnesia, quite mysterious. If you're sick, you need to get treated; don't give up on treatment."
Kong Xuan didn't respond but slightly curled his lips while looking out the window at the Shrine in the front yard. Tang Zisu hurriedly said, "That over there is the Shrine, where I make a living. It enshrines Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Do you want to go pay your respects?"
Kong Xuan's expression turned slightly cold. "No need; he isn't worthy of my worship yet."
