When Ouyang Zixin returned to Yun Residence, the sky was already faintly brightening. She stood alone at the entrance, lost in thought; tonight, she seemed a bit unlike herself. Whether it was due to worrying about Yun Tianmo's safety or not, she felt that she had been overly harsh in handling matters tonight. It wasn't until this moment, with the Bright White Stone in her hand, that she realized this.
Recalling the time when "she" had just appeared, filled with so much hatred, Ouyang Zixin had remained unaffected. What had changed now?
Without that negative version of herself, why had her temperament shifted?
If it weren't for her father's protection, would a bloody incident really have occurred tonight? She couldn't say for sure.
Ouyang Zixin opened her palm and looked at the Bright White Stone quietly resting there. Its faint glow and slight warmth gave her hope that this item would truly be useful for Yun Tianmo. She tightened her grip again and pushed the door open to enter.
"Back?" Rong Yi asked without turning around, his tone indifferent. "Did you get what you needed?"
"Yes." Ouyang Zixin replied tersely as she walked straight to the bedside. Seeing Yun Tianmo still with his eyes tightly shut and cold sweat on his forehead made it clear that he was not in a good condition.
Rong Yi stood up and moved aside, quietly observing the two young people. He couldn't help but feel that the changes in circumstances had come too quickly for him to react.
"How can you be sure this thing will help him?"
Ouyang Zixin shook her head and said, "I'm not certain, but the three words that flashed through my mind at that moment compelled me to try."
With that, she placed the Bright White Stone beside Yun Tianmo's pillow. But what should she do next?
Ouyang Zixin and Rong Yi waited silently, but unfortunately, after a cup of tea's time had passed, neither Yun Tianmo nor the Bright White Stone showed any signs of change.
"What should we do?" Ouyang Zixin asked with trembling lips, her eyes filled with desperation as she looked at Rong Yi.
"The box?" Rong Yi sighed. Now they could only treat a dead horse as if it were alive; if the Bright White Stone had been taken from a small box, perhaps that box played an important role as well.
Yes, the box!
Ouyang Zixin did not get up herself; a glimmer of light flew from her forehead as she summoned Nameless, who went to retrieve the small box left by Dream Nation's Grandmaster.
The appearance of Nameless made Rong Yi feel a slight disturbance in the air, which startled him. "What is that?"
Immediately, Ouyang Zixin placed the Small Stone Box beside Yun Tianmo's pillow and quickly explained what had happened with Nameless.
Before she could finish, the small box and Bright White Stone suddenly reacted. She widened her eyes in surprise. "Uncle, look!"
The Small Stone Box and Bright White Stone emitted dazzling light simultaneously, responding to each other—
No, it was a trio responding!
Nameless was also reacting!
Nameless's nearly transparent form began to materialize under the glow, showing signs of absorbing the light from the Small Stone Box and Bright White Stone.
"What is happening?"
Rong Yi and Ouyang Zixin spoke in unison.
Nameless shook his head in confusion. "Nameless doesn't know what's going on either, but there’s a feeling that something that originally belonged to Nameless is coming back."
Since his existence began, Nameless had always felt incomplete. Even after following Ouyang Zixin for so long, he still couldn't understand why. There were several times he had been inexplicably sealed without knowing the reason. So this time, he was even less likely to know.
While the three were puzzled about the situation, Yun Tianmo, lying on the bed, suddenly groaned twice, and the sweat on his forehead began to recede, as if his condition had improved significantly.
"Could it be that it's not Bright White Stone or the small box that's useful, but Nameless?" Ouyang Zixin speculated.
Rong Yi stood aside, pondering for a moment before nodding in agreement with Ouyang Zixin's speculation. "However, his effect should be based on the completeness of these two items."
But why was Yun Tianmo's condition only alleviated and not fully awakened?
Was there still something missing?
Ouyang Zixin racked her brain, recalling her encounters with Nameless, the small box sent by the Dream Nation's Grandmaster, and obtaining the Bright White Stone. Was there any detail she had overlooked in between?
Like an ant on a hot pan, Ouyang Zixin paced back and forth in the room, repeatedly muttering—Nameless, small box, Bright White Stone—these three items.
"Small Stone Box, Master, is it the Small Stone Box?" Nameless suddenly reminded her.
She remembered that in the Millennium Ruins, Nameless had been freed from some unknown seal and had not been sealed again since. If it was because of the Millennium Ruins, then could the Small Stone Box brought out from there also be related?
Prompted by Nameless's reminder, Ouyang Zixin recalled and hurried to the cabinet. She opened it and took out a Small Stone Box from an unwrapped package.
This Small Stone Box had not been touched since Ouyang Zixin emerged from the Millennium Ruins.
Ouyang Zixin first handed the Small Stone Box to Rong Yi. Its origins were unclear, and whether it would be useful was still a guess; she couldn't take any risks.
However, Rong Yi examined the Small Stone Box closely for quite some time but couldn't discern anything significant. He only noted that this item had a long history and was nourished by blood.
"Then, shall we give it a try?" Ouyang Zixin hesitated.
Rong Yi's expression turned serious. "Let me handle it."
With that, he pushed Ouyang Zixin aside, gathering Mysterious Energy around him to prevent any potential conflict between these items. He then carefully placed the Small Stone Box next to Yun Tianmo's pillow alongside the small box.
Strangely enough, as soon as the Small Stone Box was set down, the dazzling light that had been present suddenly vanished.
The two exchanged glances, then turned to look at Nameless, only to find that Nameless was also unresponsive.
Could it be that they guessed wrong?
Outside the window, the first rays of dawn streamed in...
In that moment, everything in the room seemed to come to a halt, with only the air around Nameless and Ouyang Zixin swirling violently, as if two small tornadoes had enveloped them.
Rong Yi was startled and reached out to grab Ouyang Zixin, but he was thrown back by the strange tornado, blood immediately flowing from his palm and dripping onto the floor.
Tap, tap, tap...
Despite the wind swirling violently, it was eerily quiet; the sound of blood dripping was exceptionally clear.
Rong Yi stared solemnly at the scene before him, neglecting Yun Tianmo who lay on the bed.
When the small tornado dissipated, Ouyang Zixin and Nameless were unharmed, which finally allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.
"You?!"
Ouyang Zixin was still dizzy, but Rong Yi noticed that Yun Tianmo, who had been lying on the bed, had somehow sat up. His tightly shut eyes slowly opened, revealing a hint of crimson. (To be continued.)
