Chapter 24: Zhang Qiu's Revenge
Uncle Thief, who had just gotten up from the ground, fled with his accomplices but was immediately intercepted by police officers rushing in from another direction. The other three escaped across the greenbelt onto the main road, where a police patrol car came speeding in. The imposing Public Security Officers quickly jumped out of the patrol car and surrounded the three men.
Zhang Qiu remained standing in place, watching the police officers approaching him from a distance, a relaxed smile appearing on his face. Liu Hua, patrolling the area with his team, noticed a fight and approached, only to realize that Zhang Qiu was also involved.
"What happened? Why are you fighting?"
"Comrade Police, this guy hit me."
As soon as Liu Hua asked, Uncle Thief retaliated by accusing Zhang Qiu, one hand still clutching his stomach while he grimaced in pain.
Zhang Qiu did not refute this; he quietly observed Liu Hua. Liu Hua looked back at Zhang Qiu and waved his hand. "Take them all back to the station."
Rui Rui shouted, "Officer, we are the victims here."
"We'll sort it out back at the station."
One patrol car was insufficient to transport so many people. Liu Hua took out his walkie-talkie to call for backup. Soon after, two vans marked with police insignia arrived with flashing blue and red lights. The officers brought by Liu Hua loaded both Uncle Thief and Zhang Qiu's group into the two vans. After instructing others to continue patrolling, Liu Hua got into the van with Zhang Qiu.
The police vehicle slowly started moving. Liu Hua looked at Zhang Qiu and asked, "What happened?"
"I just returned from Nanlan County. On my way there, an aunt suddenly screamed..." Zhang Qiu instinctively began recounting his story again. "When I got back and exited the station, I was stopped by those guys, and it almost turned into a fight."
Liu Hua chuckled. "It seems like it already turned into one."
"We exchanged a punch," Zhang Qiu replied with a smile. "If you hadn't arrived in time, it would have really escalated."
"Yesterday, Director He suddenly ordered a crackdown on public security throughout the county, especially in areas with large crowds like stations and parks." Liu Hua shook his head in reflection. "No wonder he can be the director; he truly has foresight."
The van drove directly into the courtyard of the police station. The door swung open, and the officer jumped out briskly, shouting, "Come out, come out."
Uncle Thief and the other five got out of the vehicle, their eyes filled with despair. When they saw Zhang Qiu, anger flared in their eyes. The police station was a terrifying place for them, all because of Zhang Qiu!
After a brief understanding of the situation, Zhang Qiu was separated from the thieves for questioning. The officers reviewed the surveillance footage from the station and its vicinity, confirming that Zhang Qiu's account matched the facts. The five thieves were detained, and Uncle Thief continued to shout until he was locked in a cell, "Why aren't they arresting him too? He hit someone!"
Liu Hua escorted Zhang Qiu and the others outside and said seriously, "In this society, it's better to report things to the police rather than handle them yourself. One misstep could lead you to cross legal boundaries. Just like this time when you hit someone; even if he was stealing, if you had seriously injured him, you would still face legal consequences."
"Okay, I understand. Thank you once again."
Liu Hua hesitated to speak but Zhang Qiu smiled and said, "I'll mention today’s incident to my uncle. Now, take me to see Sister Lan. Is she around?"
Liu Hua shook his head. "She isn't here today."
Just as they stepped out of the police station's door, Rui Rui grabbed Zhang Qiu and asked, "Zhang Qiu, do you still have contact with the police?"
"What? Aren't you calling me Brother Qiu anymore?"
"Stop joking; I'm being serious with you."
"So before, you weren't serious at all?"
"Hmph, I'm not asking you anymore."
"Alright then, my uncle is He Jun, the director of the Public Security Bureau in Beilan County."
"My uncle is He Jun too; Brother Leopard and Biao Ge both know about this."
"Wow!" Rui Rui was genuinely surprised and looked at Zhang Qiu with deep meaning. She finally understood why Biao Ge arranged for a high school student to oversee things; there were deeper reasons behind it.
The repairs at White Day Fire were progressing quickly. By the time Zhang Qiu and the others arrived, the hall had been completely transformed. All the tables, chairs, and sofas had been replaced, the central projector upgraded to a more advanced model, and the sound system was now professional-grade, with instruments also upgraded. Zhang Qiu couldn't help but exclaim that this was what wealthy people were like.
After spending the evening at the bar, Rui Rui approached and said, "Let's go home. We're not open for business, so leaving two people to watch over is enough. Once the door is closed, no one can get in."
"You go ahead; I want to sit here for a while longer," Zhang Qiu replied, wrapping his arm around Jiang Xue. Jiang Xue's face turned red; she lightly pushed him away twice but then obediently nestled into Zhang Qiu's embrace.
Rui Rui smiled knowingly and said, "I'm leaving, I won't disturb you two. See you tomorrow." No one noticed that as Rui Rui turned away, there was a hint of loneliness in her eyes. Her rental apartment was nearby, but she didn't want to return to that desolate place.
Jiang Xue playfully complained from Zhang Qiu's arms, "What are you doing? There are other people here."
Zhang Qiu gently kissed Jiang Xue on the forehead and smiled, "If I don't do this, how will she leave?"
Ten minutes later, Zhang Qiu made a phone call. Jiang Xue looked at him in surprise and said, "I want to go too."
Zhang Qiu firmly refused, "No way; it's too dangerous."
"Is it not dangerous if you go alone?"
"Be good and listen."
"No! I'm Sister Zhang; I want to fight alongside my brother."
Unable to resist Jiang Xue's insistence, Zhang Qiu reluctantly agreed to take her along. They hopped on an electric vehicle and turned left and right into a hidden alley. Zhang Qiu whistled, and immediately a group of people emerged from the darkness.
"Brother Qiu!"
As they got closer, Jiang Xue recognized Yang Yu, Gao Zhi, and Zhao Pingchuan. They also saw Jiang Xue behind Zhang Qiu and were all surprised, saying, "Boss, why did you bring your sister-in-law along?"
"What? It's the twenty-first century, and you still look down on women?"
"No, no, Boss, I was just worried."
"Alright, I'm not teasing you anymore. Did you bring everything?"
Wang Zhengxiang clapped his hands on his bag and said, "Boss, it's all here. Gao Zhi and I spent the whole afternoon searching every shop in the county town."

Exiting the alley led them to a wide and straight main road, which was the most bustling market in Beilan County's East District. Commercial buildings lined both sides, with cars driving down the broad center of the road and pedestrians bustling along the sidewalks. Street vendors set up stalls, filling the long street with people stopping to browse. The headquarters of Lin Tao's subordinate Chen Hu—Blue Rose Entertainment City—was located on this street.
Zhang Qiu held Jiang Xue's hand and walked straight in. The polite attendant at the entrance guided them forward while asking, "What would you like to order?"
"Two cocktails; let's sit for a while and wait for others."
"Sure, please hold on for a moment."
Zhang Qiu and Jiang Xue sat down on a sofa in a corner. Jiang Xue asked, "Why didn't the others come together?"
"They're coming in batches; you and I are the first group." While speaking, Zhang Qiu surveyed the situation inside Blue Demon Entertainment City. The overall decor of Azure Blue Rose was better than White Day Fire. The lobby was bustling with people, and what caught everyone's eye were the waitresses dressed in bikinis. Each one had an elegant figure and flowing hair, moving toward any crowd while casting flirtatious glances at every customer who looked like they had a full wallet.
On the left side of the lobby, stairs led to the second floor. The deep blue carved railings reflected dazzling light under the illumination. At the foot of the stairs stood two men in black vests on either side; their bulging biceps were exposed to the air, exuding strength.
A few minutes later, Yang Yu also entered and sat down next to Zhang Qiu. He said, "Brother Qiu, when Gao Zhi and Wang Zhengxiang come in, we will make our move. Zhao Pingchuan is outside coordinating with the Brothers."
"Alright." Zhang Qiu nodded and calmly took a sip from his glass.
The Azure Blue Rose was filled with singing and dancing, the loud music vibrating people's eardrums. The leering men watched the female attendants coming and going, looking for their prey for the night. The Brothers overseeing the venue stood at various positions, smiling with relaxed expressions, unaware of the impending danger.
"Brother Qiu, they are here."
Zhang Qiu looked over; Wang Zhengxiang and Gao Zhi walked into Blue Demon Entertainment City and were led by an attendant to a corner table. Zhang Qiu checked the time—it was 9:18 PM. He opened WeChat and whispered, "Let's start."
Hundreds of kilometers away, Chen Kun, a third-year computer science student at a key university in the capital, sat at his desk in the dormitory. His laptop was already open, and he was typing furiously on it. The screen instantly transformed to show the situation inside and outside Blue Rose Entertainment City. With a press of the enter key, several display screens went completely dark.
Zhang Qiu's phone chimed with a text message: Done!
"Make your move." As soon as Zhang Qiu spoke, he pulled out a lighter from his pocket with his left hand holding a secret weapon he had prepared earlier. He lit it and threw it directly into the center of the hall. At the same time, Yang Yu, Gao Zhi, and Wang Zhengxiang threw their own secret weapons from different positions. A thick cloud of colorful smoke erupted with a hissing sound, instantly transforming the hall into a kaleidoscope of colors.
The guests who had been leisurely enjoying themselves just moments ago immediately panicked and rushed toward the exits. The Brothers overseeing the venue were caught off guard by this sudden turn of events; their vision was completely obstructed. Even more terrifying was that they had no idea what this colorful smoke was—was it poison? Many of them momentarily forgot their duties and joined the chaotic crowd in fleeing. The spacious hall suddenly felt narrow; once they escaped outside, they realized it was the same scene—colorful smoke was spreading from all directions.
