John quickly turned to Taktron and gestured for him to display the reconnaissance footage and gathered intelligence from their underground city. "Governor, this is the video we captured in the underground city and the intelligence on the cult organization. This is not fiction, but a reality happening on our planet. The threat of Skaven is real."
Taktron swiftly operated, and a series of images and data appeared on the projection screen in the conference room, showcasing the scale of the underground city and the activities of the Skaven. In the images, the appearance of those alien creatures was clearly visible, and their organization and equipment presented an undeniable threat.
The people in the conference room watched the images, their expressions changing from initial confusion to shock and fear. Governor Reynolds stared at the images, his expression growing serious. "Is this... is this real? Do these creatures truly exist?" His voice held a hint of uncertainty.
John nodded, his gaze determined. "Governor, what we have seen and heard is the truth. The existence of the Skaven is not only a security threat, but an imminent crisis. We must take immediate action to protect the planet Yakhanix from greater disaster."
Governor Marcus Reynolds' gaze slowly swept through the conference room, his cigar burning and releasing a faint smoke, seemingly symbolizing the current tense and uncertain situation. His voice was deep and powerful, each word echoing in the conference room, as if to ensure that everyone heard his seriousness and determination.
"Recently, the subsidence problem on the planet Yakhanix has indeed caught our attention. We have always believed that this may have been caused by rebel forces or natural phenomena. But if, as these mercenaries claim, these so-called Skaven exist and have already built an underground city, this will be a completely new threat that we are facing," the Governor's voice revealed his concern for this unknown threat.
At this point, the bespectacled elder statesman stood up again, his voice carrying obvious doubt: "Governor, how can you trust the words of these people? Skaven have never appeared in our history or scientific records. All of this could just be lies fabricated by them to conceal their true intentions."
Another tall military officer stood up, supporting the elder statesman's viewpoint: "I agree, how can we make significant decisions based on these unsubstantiated claims? These so-called rat people sound more like creatures from mythology."
Governor silently listened to their questioning, then took a deep puff of his cigar and exhaled smoke rings slowly. His voice remained firm: "Regardless of whether these Skaven are real, we cannot ignore the recent abnormal phenomena in the capital. These ground collapses and cult activities should not be taken lightly. We will conduct a comprehensive investigation, and if necessary, I will personally command the army to intervene."
Tension spread in the meeting room, John's voice carrying unmistakable anxiety and determination. His gaze locked onto Governor Marcus Reynolds, as if trying to directly convey his sense of urgency to the capital's leader.
"Governor, our time is very limited," John's tone revealed urgency. "The forces of the Skaven may not seem strong, but they have an astonishing numerical advantage and some individuals with powerful chaos abilities. If we continue to hesitate, giving them more time and opportunity, they will become even more difficult to control."
John's voice rang out in the conference room, drawing the attention of those present. "We need to take action now. I strongly recommend that you mobilize the army immediately, prepare for defense and counterattack. Only then can we effectively control the situation before the Skaven pose a greater threat."
Governor Marcus Reynolds's face revealed a hint of contemptuous smile, and his sharp gaze drilled into John's eyes. The governor's voice carried obvious dissatisfaction and authority, showing his confidence and power as the leader of the Yakhanix star.
"Do you dare to teach me how to do things?" The governor's words carried a sense of contempt and sarcasm, and his eyes showed disdain for John, the mercenary captain. "Do you think I will fully accept your advice? Just because I am here calmly talking to you, do you think I will unconditionally accept every one of your opinions?"
The governor's words echoed in the conference room, making the previously calm atmosphere tense once again. He took a big puff of his cigar, exhaled slowly, and continued, "I will certainly take into consideration the intelligence you have provided, but that does not mean I will act entirely according to your opinions. I have my decision-making team, I have my strategies, and we will evaluate the situation ourselves and make the most appropriate decisions."
The governor's attitude clearly indicated his reservation towards outsiders meddling in Yakhanix affairs. John stood there, acutely aware that despite bringing important information, the ultimate decision-making power still rested in the hands of the governor and his team.
John's tone carried a hint of seriousness as he looked directly at the governor, his voice filled with solemnity and earnestness: "Governor, the warnings and suggestions I have made are all out of goodwill. Have you considered that once the Empire discovers traces of chaotic forces on your planet, and these forces are causing widespread destruction and chaos, what kind of attention do you think this will attract?"
There was a sense of concern and urgency in John's words as he continued, "The Empire's eyes are everywhere, they are extremely sensitive to any chaotic activities. If we do not take immediate action, this will not only be a threat to Yakhanix star, but it may also become the focus of the entire Empire. By then, the Empire's intervention may occur in a way that none of us want to see."
