Kashati is the only female among the nine contestants, which naturally gives her an advantage. At least most of the young audience members in the stands are fervently shouting her name, cheering her on.
"Kashati?" Bu Xin felt a sudden movement and turned his head, only to find himself locking eyes with Kashati, who was also looking at him.
This moment made Bu feel a bit awkward. He smiled sheepishly at her before quickly turning back.
Seeing Bu's silly expression, Kashati smiled lightly, feeling a sense of amusement. She gently brushed her fiery red hair by her ear, and as her gaze shifted, it seemed she had made some kind of decision.
To be fair, Kashati is quite attractive; while she may not be a top beauty, she is certainly pleasing to the eye.
With a pointed chin, delicate nose, and a pair of enchanting amber eyes, her most distinctive feature is her long, fiery red hair that dazzles and captivates. If not for her slightly sharp eyebrows and a few freckles on her face, she would truly be a stunning beauty.
As the three-minute preparation time ended, Sean Sterling called out softly, and Kozmo and Kashati stepped onto the Competition Platform simultaneously.
The two stood about ten yards apart; Kashati was tall and slender, while Kozmo appeared somewhat shorter and stockier.
At this moment, the audience on the Viewing Platform could no longer contain their excitement and began to shout.
"My Dwarf, just admit defeat already! You're not even as tall as my Kashati; there's no need for you to come out here anymore."
"Hey, look! How did my bench end up on the Competition Platform? Its four legs have turned into two!"
"Idiot! How can your bench be so thick-skinned? I just threw it up there; why doesn’t it know how to come down?"
"You broke two of its four legs; how can it come down now?"
The Viewing Platform was bustling with activity as many young people shouted insults back and forth, spitting words in excitement.
Outside was a lively scene filled with noise and chatter, while the two opponents on stage remained oblivious to it all.
Kozmo remained silent, his plump face appearing humorous but actually exuding an air of strictness. His eyes squinted into slits as he tightly gripped the black wand in his hand, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Most wizards are exceptionally intelligent individuals; they are calm and meticulous. Once a battle begins, they operate like the most precise machinery, calculating every step they take and even planning their next move in advance.
Seeing that the opponent did not initiate an attack, Kashati also refrained from acting rashly. Given her strength, each of the other eight participants was stronger than her. The initiative in battle depended on the opponent; otherwise, it would be like blindly crashing into a wall.
“Ice Path.”
Suddenly, a deep voice emerged from Kozmo. He swiftly pointed his wand at the ground, and a flash of light appeared. A blue and white alternating path of light surged along the ground, emanating a chilling aura as it rushed toward Kashati.
This bizarre attack came without any warning. As soon as Kashati heard the words leave his mouth, she saw the blue and white glow approaching rapidly from the ground, accompanied by a wave of cold air.
Startled, Kashati stomped her foot on the ground and leaped into the air like a fluttering butterfly, narrowly evading the attack.
“Blazing Flame Hand.”
In response to Kashati’s movement, Kozmo seemed to have anticipated it. He methodically unleashed his next spell without hesitation.
A surge of flames erupted, transforming into a giant flaming hand about five feet wide that slammed down toward Kashati, who was still airborne.
The flames blazed fiercely, sending waves of heat. Kashati’s delicate form resembled a moth drawn to fire, hanging by a thread.
The audience outside erupted in screams of shock.
The few weaker contestants present also showed signs of distress; Kozmo had gained the upper hand with just one move, demonstrating power far beyond Kashati. They couldn't help but feel anxious about facing him themselves—would they have any chance of victory?
Only Reynold, Bu, and Korrando remained unfazed; such an attack was not enough to trouble them.
At that moment, Kashati's figure unexpectedly twisted in the air again, like a butterfly weaving through a sea of flowers, skillfully avoiding the massive fiery hand that came crashing down.
This was simply unbelievable; without any leverage in the air, Kashati was able to change direction mid-flight solely based on her agility.
Bu was quite surprised by this. He had initially thought that Kashati would quickly be defeated after entering the arena, but he did not expect her agility to be so exceptional. It seemed that those who could stand out from the crowd of Ten Thousand were not easy opponents.
The passionate youths outside the arena roared with excitement, their faces flushed as they cheered for Kashati. The elderly spectators nearby shook their heads in admiration, remarking how youthful energy was so vibrant.
Kozmo frowned slightly. He had thought that with his Low-Level Blazing Flame Hand, he could easily take down his opponent, but to his dismay, his attack had yielded no results and wasted his energy instead.
The momentum of Blazing Flame Hand had dissipated, crashing into the ground with a thunderous impact, sending fiery serpents flying like exploding fireworks, which quickly faded away. The Competition Platform made of Black Basalt was incredibly sturdy; such a powerful energy impact could hardly cause any damage to it.
Kashati gracefully landed on the ground, holding her short swords in a defensive stance. Her fiery red hair shimmered alluringly as she stood several dozen yards away from Kozmo.
She did not choose to approach him. Although close combat was the best way to deal with a mage, she knew her strength was insufficient to defeat him. If she rashly closed the distance, she would likely suffer from his torrential attacks and be defeated in an instant.
If it were just a matter of exchanging blows for a moment, there might still be a chance for a draw.
Seeing her defensive posture ready for a tough battle, Kozmo understood her intentions and sneered coldly in his heart. His plump face remained calm and solemn. Since she was unwilling to approach, he would cast spells from a distance and reduce her to ashes; giving a mage time to cast spells was simply foolish.
An obscure incantation rumbled forth as seven or eight fireballs the size of fists appeared beside Kozmo. The fireballs floated in the air, swirling around and crackling as they burned—Low-Level magic: Rapid Fireballs.
Kashati's expression changed dramatically; her fingers gripping the swords turned pale from tension.
Unlike Blazing Flame Hand, Rapid Fireballs did not possess the same level of destructive power, but they had an accuracy that the former could not match. The caster could even slightly guide them using Mental Power to alter their trajectory.
Kozmo smirked coldly, showing no mercy. With a flick of his wand, the seven or eight fireballs surrounding him shot out in an instant, their intense heat causing violent fluctuations in the surrounding air.
A series of seven or eight fireballs linked together resembled a straight laser of flame, its speed comparable to that of a flying arrow.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The rapid fireballs, carrying a terrifying wave of heat, rushed towards her at high speed.
With a clench of her silver teeth, Kashati held her swords in both hands, suddenly leaping into the air as if propelled by a laser. The rapid fireballs grazed past her toes, the intense heat scorching the soles of her shoes, creating a perilous situation.
Many youths on the Viewing Platform secretly breathed a sigh of relief; however, before they could fully relax, the fiery laser unexpectedly split into seven or eight fireballs, resembling flame spirits with minds of their own. The fireballs formed a net-like pattern and surged towards Kashati, who was slowly descending.
This scene caused many to gasp in shock at the terrifying control over magic!
Kashati was not surprised. As soon as she landed, she rolled low to the ground with agility akin to that of a raccoon. Before her heels had even settled, a muffled thud sounded as one fireball struck the spot where she had just rolled, exploding into a burst of sparks.
Kozmo's sneer grew wider as he waved his wand, sending the remaining fireballs splitting into two streams to attack.
Just as Kashati regained her footing, she felt a wave of hot wind rushing towards her. Startled, she quickly raised her hands; two short swords gleamed brightly as they traced arcs in the air, activating her skill Gale Blade.
With several sharp sounds, three fireballs collided against Kashati's dual swords in succession. The flames blazed brightly and waves of heat surged forth. With each fireball shattered, Kashati was forced to retreat several steps until all three fireballs were finally destroyed and dissipated. At that moment, she was drenched in sweat.
Kozmo's eyes sparkled with mocking amusement, as if he were playing with a mouse.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The sound of fireballs slicing through the air echoed continuously, an unending barrage.
Kashati found herself at a moment when her old strength had just waned and new strength had yet to arise. This relentless assault left her exhausted; gazing at the three fireballs hurtling towards her, she felt utterly powerless.
"I concede."
As soon as Kashati's soft voice fell, the three fireballs that had been approaching suddenly froze in mid-air. The scorching waves of heat dispersed violently, and the red flames flickered like bombs about to explode.
The audience outside was in an uproar, as yet another competitor conceded defeat. Although they understood that the gap in strength between the two was inevitable, the lingering feeling of unfulfillment left them uncomfortable.
Many young men supporting Kozmo were also dissatisfied, but they directed all their frustration at Kashati, hurling insults that were increasingly harsh.
"Kozmo wins, earning one point, total score one point; Kashati loses, losing one point, total score negative one."
Sean Sterling's voice echoed through the arena.
Kozmo casually adjusted his collar and turned to leave, not uttering a single word throughout the match. His nonchalant demeanor only fueled the crowd's anger further.
Watching Kozmo's retreating figure, Kashati sighed softly and quietly returned to her seat.
Given her abilities, reaching this stage was already a significant achievement.
Bu turned his head to glance at Kashati's delicate and fragile silhouette, his gaze carrying a hint of encouraging warmth. Regardless of the outcome, it was remarkable for a woman to reach this level and stand on such a prominent stage; she had earned everyone's respect.
As if sensing the gaze upon her, Kashati turned to look at Bu. She saw the encouragement in his eyes, and this heartfelt blessing helped alleviate her feelings of disappointment.
She smiled back in response, her alluring red lips curving into a captivating smile.
